  1. add exceptions to your current AV. you will be happy you did. hey max. i put money on zonealarm being the issue.
  2. since this thread is 11 months old, you should start your own thread and attach your logs.
  3. i suggest getting the VD sorted and test. the errors only mention the VD. the VD just happens to be something the oculus needs. there were other problems with oculus after one of the DCS patches. the issue was supposed to be fixed after last DCS patch. if the fix of VD does not completely clear your issue, then reinstall the oculus apps.
  4. i believe this has something to do with oculus quest vr.
  5. hello again in the latest log there is a line 2024-04-18 13:31:58.721 ALERT DX11BACKEND (8864): Error: Can't find precompiled shader for effect animator/gpu_animated_model.fx:DIRECTX11=true;MAX_ANIMATIONS_STACK_SIZE=100;MAX_ARGUMENTS_SIZE=3;NUM_NODES=77;USE_DCS_DEFERRED=1;. this is still a shader issue. whether it is the cause, that is still to be told. when you renamed the saved games dcs folder, this should have recompiled everything. the latest log does indicate it. also see these type of messages Recompilation process will take some time, please wait (this situation should not occur on end user PC, if there is no manual shader editing)
  6. there have been reports that either or both nvidia and DCS settings get wiped or corrupted after updates. perhaps it is that?
  7. hello. MP missions especially need a lot of memory. Ram is definitely the best way. it is literally the easiest thing to upgrade. you just have to make sure you purchase the correct type for your system. i got my computer 3 years ago with 128 GB. it was well worth it. i am glad you are working again, and i am glad to help. if you want to pursue RAM for your computer, let me know.
  8. to add to @Flappie, @Hiob, and @Ithronwise state. after all, MS has a unique perspective on their OS and what affects it. MS AV is to the point of being as good as any of the others one has to buy. and it is totally free.
  9. hello. just before your crash you get this line 2024-04-17 18:45:50.955 ALERT EDCORE (8784): Out of memory in ed_malloc for 5592592 bytes. you should increase your pagefile since you have only 32 GB of RAM. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/increase-page-file-size-virtual-memory-windows also you can lower your preload radius within DCS options.
  10. hello. i believe you are having terrain shader issues. i suggest renaming the DCS folder in Saved Games to DCS.BAK. then rerun DCS to let the folder be recreated. also you need to be patient and let the shaders compile. it may take awhile. also add exceptions to your AV software. i run defender and these are the folders i exclude from scanning.
  11. hello. i am not experiencing this issue. do you have any suspicions of what the message is or what is creating the message? maybe it is an outside application? that is what it sounds like to me. are you able to capture a video of the anomaly? it will be difficult to reproduce.
  12. i boresight on my own airfield. i take off and go to several miles away, circle back and boresight on something on the base. this fixes the issue of the desert being devoid of objects.
  13. hello. what size is your drive? how much free space? how much room is the current install using? my DCS is using 528 GB.
  14. hello. please attach your DCS.LOG. have you done a repair? have you checked if AV is blocking anything during the update? also remove unofficial mods before the repair.
  15. to add to what @rob10 and @The_Nephilim stated, check to see if you have FAST STARTUP enabled. if it is enabled, turn it off for testing. a restart and shutdown/restart react differently. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/setup-upgrade-and-drivers/updates-not-install-with-fast-startup just a thought.
  16. hello. save a track to share here to see if others get same results. also see if you can share mission. it looks like you are using the gazelle. not everyone will have this module. we can switch out to an AC we have to take a look.
  17. most definitely. the best choice is to get as much physical RAM as possible. when i bought this system, during COVID, i maxed everything. i was saving at least $1000 a year in gas working from home.
  18. these are the recommended folders to your exclusions. this is my defender settings. null this is what i could find. i do not use mcafee. unsure of its validity. https://download.mcafee.com/products/webhelp/5/affid/756/1033/GUID-BA648B78-244A-47F1-8AD6-4A57BA8955BC.html
  19. hello. when in options on whatever AC you have shown, doubleclick on the joystick column header. then type whatever you want. then save.
  20. as @Rudel_chw mentioned, add the DCS folders to the exceptions in ESET. there are a few folders to add to exceptions detailed in this YT video. this will also make the game load faster.
  21. hello. if you are using a quest headset, this is your issue. planned DCS patch tomorrow will fix.
  22. hello. check this post. the last error prior to the crash 2024-04-08 14:54:40.653 WARNING BACKENDCOMMON (4456): Need to reprocess [DDS] image '/textures/iso_container_n.dds' doing the rename will effective cause DCS to recompile shaders.
