  1. and current in progresss with the skids null
  2. just to see what it look like with out skids. , my take on the earler protype.
  3. Allot is working guages are working the cockpit is being redone in higher pbr and the model is also just low standin we using, also being redone in high pbr textures. So it will get allot higher quality when release to public as a wip.
  4. ok here some more info for ya, now that it's out of the bag, I am working on 3d model and attached a test flight I did in G2 VR for the Cobra AH1G, and my partner is brains he is working on EFM, flight dynamics , NASA etc, and the code and all flight cockpit stuff, guages, click pit etc. So just the two us us, we have been working on it since Dec 2022, and we are also following the offical manufactures ,plans, service /test manuals and data , we do not have scas system yet, yes the cobra had a scas, like the ah64, future plans , so this all brute force stick, rudder and lots of trim . this is the first mod of any aircaft we have ever done or ae doing and pretty much all from scratch accept the model you see in video is low quality stand in, we are also doing out best to make it as real as possible , to the original cobra based as possible, as the manuals allow us to do that, so we are planning on wip release later this year no date yet as we have allot of work to still do till we get to the first public wip. and we also have other plans for other aircraft models in the future, that ED or dcs will never make for many years to com, we also have more modern cobra ah1-w and other models planned in the future. Enjoy. check us out on discord. https://discord.gg/HKet7sjf 2023-02-17_17-53-40.mp4 2023-02-17_17-53-40 (1).mp4 2023-02-17_17-33-42.mp4 2023-02-17_17-27-00.mp4
  5. I have been on VR long time and it's not easy to deal with all the issues and changes you run into if your new to VR or a veteran Vr player. But if you enjoy it keeps you going as it's something back in 80's as a kid we didn't have vr and now we do. For me VR is amazing , but it's not always workings. So it takes big time commitment to vr. I have been struggling with DCs VR issues since 2014 and I tell you it's not been easy trip it's a technology that's still in development. sometimes you need to take a break or play something else as main issue is not VR but really dcs world it's still in development so it's a beta. If you like flying, check out other flight sims on steam, msfs2020, il-2 with ww1 and WW2 add-ons, race cars, fantasy, sifi space fighters and expand your horizons in VR. DCs can be major pain in VR. most other VR apps and games don't have DCs VR problems. I only play on weekends. As I find VR fatigues me if I play to much. Ya VR is DCs is allot of work, as updates break it. That's just what DCs is like. Those of us who play it in vr do it we enjoy it, and put up with all the crap. And we keep coming back as it's long term hobby dedication and for some can be costly for there controllers and rigs ,years for some , decades for others, something breaks you fix it VR is very time consuming not for everyone. It not like owning a game console, PC VR is allot more complex and time consuming and sadly , realistically its not plug and play it's hands on and requirements are learning allot of other skills to keep it running.
  6. Oculus only runs on its old or beta openxr with the toolkit or with out and or compatible openxr mods. Or steamvr old or it's beta openxr, toolkit vr menu or with out and VR compatible mods. Wmr openxr tools has no effect on oculus. I think I have that right, little complicated.
  7. I am testing this big flat styrofoam foam temp to see if it will cover the entire front cockpits for sizing and so don't bang my hand will trim the areas not used. And will glue on some black paper if tracking issues are issue, and card board on back for strength so don't get broke. I am planning a generic 3d printed front modular systems outline for any aircrafts or other VR flying games with leap motion, so a empty shell main panel ,holds small window box Mpd / switches area. frames that can slide or snap pegs anywhere on the main panel to match cocpits. Just for VR ,then will insert foam into the box panels for a permanent vr solution I hope. Also no issues with white color, only shiny/light that reflects into the leap motion camera effects the tracking and obviously blocking of the vr sensors if you've got them on tripods I have found.
  8. Ignore all the uninformed naysayers and none vr people and negative nannies about not using VR. If your playing just VR , Check out the leap motion hand tracking device!, see related posts on here or old video demo on youtube too see it in DCs. It's a full hand tracking camera some are using it like me and it's a blast for use in VR flying , ssd is requird+ extra ram is required, a good newer VR video card ,so gtx 3050+ if your using older latest gfx $1000+ card $$$$ is not required. So needed for the exta fps that is require over ontop of VR requirements, as there is fps drop. It works with any steam vr headset, I use a oculus rift/quest 2 VR. i use steam over openxr for that extra boost. and a simple more affordable hotas setup, like a cheaper thrust master setup is all I use. I recommend invest your into your PC mb/cpu/ video hardware instead, use your hands for all cockpit mpds and most switches that are reachable, accept axis stick and throttle. So all those exta expensive $$$$ hotas options are not needed in a vr cockpit , makes it difficult to use when you can't see them, and peaks threw visor are no answer or training your muscle memory or just a blind type keyboard ya right lol not for real vr. mine is just a simple thrustmaster has all extra keys ever needed 15 with just the slide throttle alone for vr ,no other issues that I couldn't resolve with my brain , throttle is fine for flight/hover/land with skill learning<> control for the ah64 is possible so if it can do that it can handle any aircraft. I use the alt/shift/ctrl with hat 4 way or any joy button not in the VR cockpit and for any extra key maps needed. I popup VR kneeboard also use a mini keyboard just for vr ,kneeboard so strapped on my knee for VR seat control repositioning, moving the cockpit in vr around to deal with any minor distance issues and just training your self at looking at the zone to touch in VR cockpit resolved lots of hand tracking issues and so no zooming out and glancing in vr leap motion because it has narrow fov vision, there are minor loss of hand issues but I find that are DCs issues, fix in future updates and system under performance issues or not knowing leap motion recommend to do, you can also un plug it plug it back in game with out leaving DCs game or vr. the size difference between VR and actual real world pc size do cause tracking issues. That's expected with new hardware. So you need to remove all tracking obstacles, reflections, I also flip up my arm rests on my game chair for side panels clicking startup, lights, shutdown etc. Also I modify my physical rig for VR and hand tracking. And with that then you can build a cheap $20 mock cockpit front/side system out of foam for free hand touching. I am also building a newer affordable PC not the latest hardware, just for using in VR and leap motion. I was using a real old DCs 2.5 2015/2018 and it still worked in minimal gfx but was way to slow for the device in VR in general VR 2.7 besides adding Leap motion and stream deck . So DCs is not with out issue with leap motion, but I find all minor and benefits out way the issues. I have flown many times, 40 minutes to hours in sp on my server without a issue I couldn't resolve. There are good hints how to setup and use the leap motion in dcs and recommends on the net and on DCs VR face book group here I post my stuff. Related Images attached. My VR stuff is here on fb if you want to chat about leap motion. Cheers. https://m.facebook.com/phudson2099/posts/ms.c.eJxdzMsNgEAMA9GOUOx83X9jCHEg7PVpbBjKFF7ZiWDywitmU~_P6BDQOd2ONoE7xWjLqkiq~_n~_mRaLZF8BaWMIEYrh80S5arQWiQOKUm~;sL0fyOkDqH8Wd1v6DYL.bps./?photo_id=10160943657514252&mds=%2Fphotos%2Fviewer%2F%3Fphotoset_token%3Dms.c.eJxdzMsNgEAMA9GOUOx83X9jCHEg7PVpbBjKFF7ZiWDywitmU~_P6BDQOd2ONoE7xWjLqkiq~_n~_mRaLZF8BaWMIEYrh80S5arQWiQOKUm~%3BsL0fyOkDqH8Wd1v6DYL.bps.%26photo%3D10160943657514252%26profileid%3D530324251%26source%3D81%26ref%3Dm_notif%26notif_t%3Dgroup_comment_mention%26__tn__%3DE%26cached_data%3Dtrue%26ftid%3D&mdp=1&mdf=1
  9. Hmm I like that, might have to look at that for mine. How much did the foam cost.
  10. That's what the virplkit vr mod does , you have lots upscaler options, can set to nis. Works with steam openxr or oculus openxr runtime, don't need openxr toolkit is really only for wmr but you can use other combos if toolkit does not work.
  11. What i do, I use the cockpit ctrl move view keys with my leap motion in VR. And use a small knee keyboard. To make small adjustments when needed like startup, to improve tracking when you are using leap motion , because of its limited fov limited narrow view, make sure look at the center position your wanting to use, turn your head look right at it you get better hand tracking, like the left side panel or lower you get better tracking than say just zooming out and glancing at it with just eye's. Also find it tracks better when 2nd hand your not using is hidden. so not tracking both hands , I try to move it out of view and not use it until I need to or hide when not using. also any issues with leap motion , just unplug it and plug it back in, try to limit any reflections into it leapmotion device, cover/move if on monitor on a arm. I have also made my arm rest flip back on my chair, make my main flight stick on a stand so I can re position it to line up with the cockpit when possible, future I plan on trying to repositioning throttle the same way and future collective. Also you can also use the VR ip'd eye setting to resize the cockpit! to match your rig % width distance better, as long as you got it aprx in right location, sp make it smaller or bigger in VR tweak that. Other than that I am trying to make my area clear where I touch the front/bottom/sides panels, so I don't hit my hands. I use a stand that can be lowered or raised for my main frame. I don't fly none vr sims, so I don't have any use for physical panels with working gauges or mpds just the frame for mounts, future Idea ,I want to build a generic cockpit frame addon for my stand, with added 3d printed parts and use side tubes , for sliding on flat base panel box for positioning and mounting the side throttle and collective controllers and or other mounts to get closer to a actual physical layout for VR. So my rig is still a work in progress and I am trying to keep costs down with mostly building it by hand. ya leap motion and stream box are great for VR , I am finally building a newer rig computer now because of openxr/leapmotion/stream deck. my old vr desktop pcwas for dcs 2.5 no good anymore even with vr mods. so time for newer pc and maybe newer vr wired headset is in the works now also for dcs 2.7 and msfs2020 new hardware extra's I plan on using.
  12. ok tested my rift / Quest2 in steamvr as openxr and oculus openxr runtimes with ott and also openxr toolkit toggle and compositor switcher for both. So steam vr openxr works with the stream deck and leap motion hand tracking, but my pc is too slow to pull it off so new pc in my near future
  13. Well Oculus on Windows 10 DCs 2.5 was pretty good for me ,that DCs was way faster back then still is, so not a beta, 2.7 depends on your hardware more now than back then. it's requires such new gfx card ,faster PC to use it. I think my 10 was faster than 11 were it counts for 2018, but only a little. you obviously still need to optimize your 11 same as 10. system to it's Max for DCs, large page file based on ram , limit background processing, use nivida light none of the exta experience stuff just slows down gfx by obviously running more process and virtual containers. You can use similar software like razor core boost to toggle off services and your default running apps when. In DCs. Besides Max your ram slots, use ssd for system drive and large page, keep system storage up above 80%drive. Tweaks like that. I made the jump to windows 11 on all my computers on network, accept linux machines. I am running DCs dedicated server on Windows 11/linux. machine. There all running at there max limit. Also other software like Oculus is an improvement as well supporting new openxr are in the beta channel. the quest 2 you've got your links wired and wireless. Again all of this runs on Windows 11. I have not tested that on 10 so can really say. Switching over to Windows 11 isn't really of any significant benefits on older system that are running good. unless you need to for new hardware or want to try it. it's the latest and ohh and big issue old computer systems are not supported. the mb needs to support tpm security layer in bios, so that a big hurdle. If does not it not easy to install 11, you need file/registry hacks, not impossible. but not just a upgrade or install from USB key. unless your computer guy or girl not easy to keep it running, windows updates could brick it. Kinda needs to keep update service disabled by default, only enable for other updates back disabled as updates are frequently. To risky to screw up the system. So yes for staying up to date/ support/ new mb hardware and no old systems unless you upgrading to new mb hardware/ performance boost is minimum over 10, hope that answers your question, little long explanation.
  14. It depends on your PC specs and gfx card and how new. I been playing in VR since 2013. I have very old system and it Oculus vr was fine in early days DCs 2.5. I still need to use mods. but since moving to 2.7. frames have dropped in half and VR is not playable without mods, on my system, I am in mid to high 30's fps and made it to spiked to 40 once lol. This just DCs only, all my other VR games , flight sims don't require mods. So yes it's does make definitely a increase in fps combined with lowering DCs settings for my system. I have since added a Quest2. And other. And new demanding DCs like FA18, AH64 etc , and Related VR hardware. So i need to get as many frames as possible now to play the ah64 frame hog. The costs to replace my old mb core/ gfx card system would be allot. It's not upgradeable anymore. Ya my system is past it's prime, should be in the bone yard.
  15. ohh no problem just humor, ya trolling lol to old for that nonesense, I am still working on it or researching mostly whats been done before and what gunnerheat in game engine unity3d newer models saem controls as wot, and they dont have internal cockpits views , its still the same point of view thats in CA now but with no 2d scripted systems images with better graphics , and optics take over the whole screen with key toggle, and it looks like not VR supported yet or ever. so thats latest tank sim ,so not found any VR designed tanks sims but whats in my head, that's what in dcs already is just broke for vr. the user mods like the brit one Scimitar tank is the best mod out there now that seems tobe the norm, step up from ed's CA old now. I have some simple mod tests planned to see if custom gm cockpit systems dll linked with conenctors to custom tank cockpit added is possible and two more workable system or not. I still say yes it be possible but ya will require working proof. I am questioning the idea now would it even be better than current view full systems, sitting on top, floating above tank to drive or sit inside, look at screens you have close to your face, since thee views are take less of the screen up? , and you pop out of hatch, optics take over whole screen in gunnerheat with none of that, would being inside the tank add any extra value if you just going to switch to full optics screen views yes or no opinion? And there are issues with current old tanks models, not having any view holes for optics positions to even see out i see in game ,so might require new .ed body models with holes for iron view slots for old tanks or just whole screen masked views are better, just need modified lua's , I will look at that later, now I am just working on my own test concept tron looking proto-tank+added cockpit tests to see . fyi: dcs's api has allot of functions used in aircraft/cockpit mods , but ya depends on how much is accessable to me and time to do it and not locked away in ed paranoid made encrypted dlls for some reason is beyound me lol , on the infantry player front , there are .ed anim files of fully 3d animated infantry and country soliders on missions as AI most know this, but they shoot weapons, reload, run, drop to kness, lay flat or prone and rag doll impact deathskey/collision/lod's/ frame anims etc, standard fps stuff not great looking 90's lol. Thats is in its world entities # number database in the Bazar world to use. so I am looking into testing that to see if its avatar-able, as a fp view player, require a simple mod testis planned , and looking at other misc ground user mods like dino park, but ya so I am still looking into all of this in my spare time so no updates , just plans, that and other projects and then real life priorities. ya cheers no harm.
  16. , wow shot down before I could even take off, so I will end my part in this discussion now, lessons learned. I prob post some progress I make if any on YouTube or Facebook in near. Future. Bg.
  17. Late reply, use statics for ground and not AI scripted. If there going to be targets. Or not primary they still have hit points and take damage. Makes big difference in missions executing on small home servers with less scripts qued. That's what I do. Load .Miz into editor and just swap replace. I only use scripted ai for air and moving ground. Everything else static. Helps other players on smaller systems like laptops. Along with distance triggers and scripts, don't activate till crossing the trigger etc. I use mostly liberation for generator then modify by hand.
  18. I was testing options for both my headsets rift oculus SDK and Quest 2 wired also Oculus SDK.
  19. Fyi old PC or card If you have a issue with lower frame rate in VR using default steam openevr driver and using a Oculus rift headset. I was getting terrible 7 to 10 fps ah64d, switched to the Oculus xr driver, jumped up to frame rate 35 to 40, depends also on map and how populated it is. the default steam driver is not a great driver seems for lower performance systems like mine. Ya you can get away with it on more powerful max ultimate system or no have to none Oculus headset. and i can now fly ah64 in VR with ihadss on, less stutter or delays related to fps to none mostly, I also disable it and use the render both eyes instead it helps. And using the Oculus quest 2 and the quest link cable Oculus driver had little better performance than rift 48 fps. does not work in a quest2 over wireless, since only supports steam. So my system is old mb lower end now ,gtx1060 6g ,old corel7 5gen 3.5Ghz, 32gigs ram , 1tb ssd, windows 11. Also I use DCS updater utility, I can recommend it. It's way better playable with custom mid to high gfx tweaked settings and any unfriendly VR settings turned off. Also over clocking my card gave me a little performance boost seems like.
  20. I would try and lower your total units in mission editor as a test to see liberation is generating too many units and overloading your system , as I have a smaller dedicated server and found most of campign templates were just too big for mine server with over 1000+ units even with fog of war and everything culled and turned off, still too much. so I modified a template and made my own and now I have total units of 430 and my lag issues are allot less for smaller players running on laptops and no lag for desktops. hope that helps I am using my own factions and my own custom campaign template to control the generating of total units and is working way better than any default settings.
  21. is liberation 4.1.1 broke now with the new dcs 2.7.6.12852 open beta? latest update. my players on my dcs dedicated server are now reporting that my liberation mission have AI that are flying backwards and upside down and stuttering and moon walking lol and it also been crashing my dcs dedicated server when running liberation application and or mission. Also I am using a custom dcs setup, linux/wine/custom factions/custom template, but I tested briefing room missions and custom made mission editor mission they are all ok and dcs server is stable no crashing when hosting those missions. And it was not doing this before this dcs update. So anyone else having these issues on there dcs server is there a build that compatible with this new update or any hacks to liberation mission to fix, tried re saving in misson editor did not help and I am not really wanting to switch to normal dcs build server if possible, way too much work if its still a issue on the none open beta also. ok guess it was a mod maybe tacview or srs was too much for network and server and was causing it or somthing else so issue was resolved.
