  1. I want to shoot targets with my M4 from the window.
  2. Confirmed. Not gamebreaking because the alignment works, but kinda annoying.
  3. Deleting /fxo and /metashaders2 in Saved Games has done the trick for me.
  4. I have spent this evening collecting information about the FPS drops in the Fishbed, when the Radar is turned on. As many people have stated, it seems to be related to the amount of ground processed as clutter on the radar screen. The more ground it sees, in terms of area width and altitude, the worse it gets. I have tried several things and managed to get a decent amount of FPS, but I don't consider this a fix. Should work until the official patch is released. 1) Deleted /fxo and /metashaders2 in my Saved Games folder. Forgot to do this in a while, so the various updates have stacked the risk of issues. 2) Disabled ground clutter when radar is on. The FPS loss dropped from 40 to 5-10ish fps depending on the map. Biggest issue in Syria so far, but that's optimization related. Feel free to share opinions about this.
  5. Same here. Slew controls are relative to the direction the aircraft is facing, so they invert when the target is behind and move diagonally when you are flanking. This happens to the DMT as well.
  6. Thank you for your answer. Keep doing the good work! :D
  7. I have seen it happen with another module some time ago, can't recall which one. It was a wrong guess. Thank you for your explanation. Is it normal for the screen to abandon default colors after alignment then?
  8. I can't seem to align the aircraft in any way, after the 3 mins alignment the MFD just turns the screen text to red. My steps so far: - Battery - Fuel pumps - Fuel flow - DECS - APU - Engine (Parking brake engaged) - A/C screen for alignment - Inserted Latitude, Longitude, Mag variation - Switched INS to Align GND (or Sea, depending) - 3 minute wait - After OK, switch to NAV or IFA - Red text, meaning a INS corruption. I can't find any "updated" guide on this, so I guess I must be doing something wrong. What am I missing?
  9. Ridiculous. They broke a whole plane with a single patch.
  10. DEAL WITH IT! https://imgur.com/gtMZJ4b
  11. Wow, that is mighty weird. DCS shouldn't use that amount of memory, seems like there's a leak somewhere.
  12. This is just a report that I want to share with you guys, if you have comments or suggestions, they are welcome. So, to start with, these are my specs at the moment: ---Processor--- Intel® Core i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz RAM 16GB ---Video Card--- Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 630 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 TI 4GB ---Joysticks--- Logitech G25 Steering Wheel T-Flight Stick.X ---Tracking system--- Logitech C920 Pro HD Webcam FaceTrackNoIR (Commercial use) A few months ago, I came back to DCS World and found it dramatically unplayable. Back then, my RAM was a single 8Gb bank (I know, not good), but I started investigating the issue and made a few tests; after the 2.5 update (and in particular the A-10C cockpit revamp), it seemed like the amount of required memory to play had increased a lot. I've spent several days tweaking my settings and whatnot, finding out that both SSAA and MSAA were sucking my RAM dry like hungry puppies. After surfing the web and being told either to install DCS on a SSD or to increase my RAM, I opted for the second one: mainly because I don't have much free time to migrate my OS to the SSD, and because the SSD seemed to load the game rather quickly, with little impact on overall performance. So, I upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 16GB and BAM, I have never had a better performance in DCS. - Loading times are reduced (from 10mins to 3mins in SP and from 30mins to 10mins in MP). - Stutter is just a bad memory, although some servers seem to struggle with many players logged in. - Preload radius is optimal around 30k. - AA works well in 2x - Every other setting, exception made for shadows, is set to high and gives me a solid 40fps in SP and 25-30 in MP, which is ok for me. - Some planes take longer to load, i.e. A-10c with the new cockpit, but I guess that's normal. That being said, I'm pretty happy with my investment. Some people tend to underestimate RAM importance in a demanding game like DCS. :pilotfly: Also, random image
  13. Well, DCS requires something like 150GB of "preallocated space", in case you install every single module and a big update is released. If you want to migrate your OS to it, go for a 1TB SSD. It's quite an investment, but worth it.
Posso solo zoommare col mouse. Consigli?
  16. I'll give you quick advice for each (not persian gulf which I have just bought) - Mi-8, quite the struggle. Very big, capable and hard helicopter to master, not as responsive as the Huey due to it's large size. But once you learn it, it's just impressive. - Mig-21, another interesting module mainly for AA. It's mostly analog (Cold War jet) and has a big fuel usage, but it's perfect for quick intercept missions. No bugs encountered. - Mirage 2000 state of the art of European Technology, once you learn to fly it, it can become a multipurpose jet. Each of these has a different level of time to put into, the easiest to learn, according to my experience, is the Mirage, due to it's modern and almost automated systems. If you want a real test, try the Mi-8. Mig-21 stands in the middle.
  17. It's actually 87, most of which are training to learn all of the systems and the maneuvers. Something like 43 sessions in total. BTW guys, following your advice I decided to get Persian Gulf. Not regretting it at all! :pilotfly:
  18. If it's going to be your first helo, It will be hell to pilot, so I'd avoid the Mi-8 if you look for a chill experience. Good starting helos are the Black Shark and the Huey.
  19. If you like analog, get the Mig-21 (AA mostly), if you like electronics go for A-10C (AA+A/G). Not quite sure about the Harrier, I'm thinking of getting it but that bloody Early Access tag... ugh.
  20. So, this post might seem weird, but I'm in clear need of advice. My birthday is closing in (April 21st) and I would like to invest some of my money on a new DCS Module, taking advantage of the spring sale. I already own some full modules (A-10c, M-2000, Ka-50, Mi-8, Mig-21) and my current choice is among planes mostly. I fell in love with the Harrier design, but I read that its development is basically halted until no one knows when. Also, the Hornet is on discount, but having had my fill with the M-2000 for almost 100 hours I wouldn't like to have a repetitive experience (never tried the Hornet, so pardon me if I said some heresy). Finally, the Persian Gulf map is on my wishlist since it was released, but it has mixed reviews as well. I would like to have some advice from more experienced pilots on this forum. What do you think is the best investment? :pilotfly: Fly safe.
  21. Not sure if anyone has pointed this out already, if they have, feel free to merge my post with the thread or to point me to the right discussion. I decided to improve my skills with the M-2000 by doing some training missions, the ILS landing in particular. During the session, I have noticed a big gap between the instructor's voice and the in-game events. As I was preparing for my alignment with the airport, the instructor told me to wait until the "arrow pointed 121 deg" before starting my turn, but apparently I had crossed the runway already and was a lot further than I was supposed to be. Despite finding the correct angle, the instructor didn't continue giving info, as if it was stuck. This happened during A/A training and takeoff as well. It's like a single misstep is able to screw the whole training up. Is this a known issue?
  22. I have read that the pilot body was removed in FP because the whole cockpit needed a hand of fresh paint, they might add it back around May. That includes the patches in TP.
