HB needs to fix the TF-30 sound for the F-14A
Wingmate replied to DarkJedi_7's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I think the assumption is based on the fact there are two sound files in the "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\Engines" folder that are named with J79 in the title: "J79-17_ENG1_QuietHowl.wav" and "J79-17_ENG2_Reheat.wav" -
The C model we have still needs coolant. There is a later variant of the C model that is sealed and does not need coolant however it looks like it was only used in the F-14D. IIRC in the AIM-54 stickied thread there was a discussion about this.

Should heading hold follow the heading bug IRL ?
Wingmate replied to Schlomo1933's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The NATOPS for the F-14 says that HDG hold works by maneuvering the aircraft to the desired heading and then releasing the stick at less than +-5 degrees of bank angle. So my guess is the Heatblur Cat in the other sim is wrong if you are using the heading bug to set your autopilot. -
The bloodhounds liveries are from the Raven one campaign and are correct for that setting, apart from the modex issue.

The upgraded B never got MFDs either, at least not in the front pit.

According to the NATOPS the ADF position is not functional on the ARC-159 (the radio in the front) so I imagine it won't be enabled in our tomcat. As for using it I have always just switched to the back seat or told my friend to flip the switch, I am unsure as to if you can do it with Jester. I think I recall the ability to tell Jster to do so with VAICOM but I have not flown any missions with that in a while. I think all the transponder functions are in the back cockpit and I have never really fiddled with it so I can't help much there.

From the multiservice brevity guide "FENCE (in/out) Set cockpit switches as appropriate prior to entering/exiting the combat area."

If the tomcat were to never get another update (which would suck a lot) I would still feel as if I had gotten my money's worth for the Tomcat. The amount of time I have put into it both flying and working on liveries for it makes it by far one of the best price to hours enjoyed ratios of any electronic entertainment I have purchased.

The RIO binds are separate from the Pilot binds in the dropdown menu when you are assigning controls.

Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update 10th March 2023
Wingmate replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
You now do not want the ability to control it? It sounds like the current implementation will be similar to changing the helmet in the hornet. -
Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update 10th March 2023
Wingmate replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
As far as I understand that is already how it is, I have had no FORGE elements in newly made missions as well. -
I've had it show up, I don't know for sure but I imagine they are all equally weighted for a chance to appear.

Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update 10th March 2023
Wingmate replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Sometimes I wonder if I should be allowed to use photoshop, I had to make the visual pun after reading eye candy. If anyone is wanting to view the new FORGE option in model viewer the argument is 4001. Now if you will excuse me I need to go get some skittles... -
Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update 10th March 2023

Yes, my understanding is it only works for aircraft set to player rather than client in the mission editor. Same with the triggered failures. -

It sounds like we will be able to once FORGE is done based on what IronMike has said. Personally, I like the cockpit with and without the FORGE additions, I also wouldn't be unhappy if there was a chance my radar would fail on the cat shot. I'd really like to see random failures and triggering failures be possible in multiplayer but that is an ED thing. -
I'll say the VKB Gunfighter Mk III with the Tomcat grip is excellent with the 200mm extension as well.
-
The poststart checklist in the NATOPS also has 61 points and Reflected worked with former F-14 RIO Dave Baranek on the campaign so I would say it is realistic.
-
I think the actual overspeed number is around 225 for flaps though I always make sure I am atound 200 as well for flaps just to have a margin of error
-
If we could see the mission as well that would be helpful

You should have ammo in the gun it just sounds as though you have not reset the Gun Rounds Counter, if you are cold starting it will show you having 0 rounds in the gun despite it being loaded. The counter is immediately to the right of the arresting hook lever.
