Alt+Enter does not enter full screen; stuck in windowed
Boosterdog replied to Nealius's topic in 2D Video Bugs
Hi. Yes it seems to and seems reliable. I only have the one screen with a matching resolution however. I would still urge @BIGNEWY to bring this to the attention of the devs if he has not already done so. The reasoning for removing the ability to run fse has never been explained and a good number have been left to scrabble for solutions these past months. What solutions do work only work for specific set ups in 2D. I’ve not touched DCS since MT for this reason. That it works again for now is something but the silence from ED to this thread does not give me the confidence to invest anything further into the title at this time. That’s what worked for me. -
Alt+Enter does not enter full screen; stuck in windowed

Full screen is ticked for me. Have you got the dx11 backend lines added to your autoexec.cig? Not sure what you mean buddy. -
For 2D players exclusive full screen can improve the smoothness (not the fps) of graphics for some especially in fast moving scenes and objects.. Once upon a time Alt Enter would do this but for some reason ED never made clear, not anymore. A workaround is to: 1) Disable "Full Screen Optimisations" in the compatability tab of the launcher desktop shortcut 2) Copy the following into the autoexec.cfg file: dx11backend = { flipMode = false, } This renables the feature in the non MT version without having to do anything else. The game should launch in exclusive full screen For the MT version do the same but ensure that you click into the DCS loading screen prior to the game booting into full screen or the graphics will lock. Alt Tab doesnt play well with this sadly. To check, adjust the windows sound (mosy keyboards have volume keys) - if the sound bar shows up, you aint in exclusive full screen. If it doesnt---you are.

When i was looking as the differences, i switched off TIR altogether - the same stutter is apparent over forests (for instance) even flying slowly when looking to the side. This isnt just a TIR issue. The general concensus is that 120 or 60 is fine for TIR BTW. I can have a totally smooth experience with TIR at 60 locked vsync with full screen in the non MT version. The issue remains - there is no reliable way to Alt-Enter for MT and currently nothing from ED. -
5+5 Exhaust on a V12 Engine - some1 enlighten me
Boosterdog replied to Jel's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
The 5 and 6 ports were combined. I think this was to prevent gasses from the exhaust bleeding into the inboard rads with the outer exhausts being mirrored for simplcity of manufacture/ spares stock. Aussie and Cannuck variants can be seen with 5 inboard and 6 outboard. Some sources suggest to was also to prevent the wooden structure from being damaged but I think this may be bogus. I also believe some later Merlin engines were better able to accomodate 6 stacks without fear of hot gas ingestion. You can just make out the fabrication in this image (also note the detail on the stacks that, last time i checked ((admittedly some time ago)) was dissappointingly absent on the DCS model. -
Not an ED problem to even look at it - perhaps contact the mod maker.

Not as far as i know. Nothing from ED on the matter. Nothing from @BIGNEWYin this thread (expected and undersatandable given the work around MT in general). -
solved i do not have a mods folder in my c drive
Boosterdog replied to badatthis's topic in Installation Problems
Glad you got it sorted. You might want to consider using a mod manager like OvGME as sometimes mods do not play nicley with each other or the game and this can change on game patch or update to the mod itself.- using a manager helps you quicly and safely disable and enable mods . Not too hard to set up either. Also, if you get addicted to mods, the folder can rapidly outgrow your C drive if its a small one. You can move the saved games folder to larger drive but because its a "special" folder in windows there is a specific way you must do it- all this stuff is expained in many web sites. All the best -

look for the open beta folder in your saved games folder (C/Users/your user name)- if there isnt a "Mods" folder, create one in the open beta folder there. -

Alt+Enter does not enter full screen; stuck in windowed
Boosterdog replied to Nealius's topic in 2D Video Bugs
@BIGNEWY given the MT branch has effectively reset the clock on this should I raise it the bug section (ED say it isnt a bug and working as intended). It would perhaps keep things neater if stuff stayed here with perhaps a modifed title. Could I respectfully ask you to raise this the ED once again? Thanks -

Boosterdog replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
My 5600X/3080 2D world is a much much happier place. Sadly I can only dip in and out of games at present but the intially look is impressive. Well done ED (but please bring back Alt-Tab) -

Boosterdog replied to Nealius's topic in 2D Video Bugs
For me its low over heavy forest. Its funny how stuff affects us all differently but perhaps this is more down to our rigs/settingsand some event horizon that throws the load somewhere else at a certain point in each unique case. My feeling personally is that certain "loads" have a greater effect than others - my shadows for instance are set to default. If I switch em off I see littlle stutter as clearly the game is breathing easy. Its only when one begins to reach the edge of the envelope (and by that I do not necessarily mean huge drops in FPS but perhaps VRAM or something) that the Alt-Enter bonus boost begins to count. -

My tests were performed looking outside of the cockpit. The judders are not exclusive to the pit interior. -
It appears to be powered entrirely by cheese with perhaps auxillary schmaltz back up.

@fab.13 Test 1 IN GAME - Vsync ON Full Screen on NO autoexec fix NCP Vsync OFF Mission launches without EFS (windows volume window is visible when altering volume from keyboard). Game has apparent frame pacing problems and does not run smoothly Alt- Tab switches focus – no effect on game Alt-Enter does not work Test 2 IN GAME - Vsync ON Full Screen on autoexec fix applied NCP Vsync – Use application setting Mission launches WITH EFS (windows volume window is NOT visible when altering volume from keyboard). Game has NO apparent frame pacing problems and runs smoothly Alt- Tab switches focus – Tabbing back to game EFS is not enforced (windows volume window is visible when altering volume from keyboard) HOWEVER game continues to run smoothly with little of no frame pacing issues Alt-Enter after Alt-Tabbing back returns game to FSE ( (windows volume window is visible when altering volume from keyboard). Since the second 2.8 beta patch, I have noticed that the game reliably launches in FSE with the autoexec fix applied. Prior to this patch it required a single Alt-Enter. Moreover, even when alt-tabbing and returning to the game where FSE (in the old sense) is not applied, the game continues to run smoothly (although not quite as smoothly as in FSE when it is pushed graphically perhaps - difficult to tell). I run no updates on my Win 10 install. Game is stock. Specs in my sig. Track used (AH64 Caucasues) and game settings attached. Stutters SC.trk -

@fab.13 i may have a couple of hours today to help. Please tell me exactly what combinations you want to test. Also how you want me to start the game ( launch play v launch altenter play v tabbing out. -
Less excited about the news more relieved that ED have said something officially after 14 months. Not holding out for a 2023 release though. The news wording is soaked in caution when it comes to timescales. Understandably so. It would seem the tone of the October 21 statement was a shadow over optimistic in terms what had yet to be completed. And this is only one facet of what ultimately needs to happen in regards to Vulkan. Whilst very welcome and undoubtedly an important and hard won step, the ultimate destination likely remains years away. Consider my expectations managed.

Its the new "I caught you in the can with my wifes picture" passive aggressive mode.

Very late replay and you've probably already sorted it. For Syria, I found the Anabasis_setifera plant the most troublesome and jarring "pop up" - in Mods/terrain/Syria/surface details - I just rename it to "Anabasis_setifera_0.ref" so the game doesnt see it - I have to delete the newly created file for it every patch but thats no big deal. In PG in the PG surface details folder I do the same with "small_bush" and "small_bush-group" Caucuases has has large number of smaller shrubs hiding under the forest canopy - these are not a pop up problem but removing or renaming "Bush.ref" can ease the load a little without undult affecting the quality of the graphics - this can also ve permanently edited out in one of the lua. files but I forget which.

Tick the full screen box as well as the vysnc box in the game graphics options Presuming you use nvidia go to the control panel, ensure you have a profile for “DCS black shark.exe” and set the vsync option in there to “off” if you do not wish to have vsync operate in full screen or “application controlled” if you do The game should launch in exclusive full screen mode and you should not have to do anything. To check (and if you can alter the volume in windows from your keyboard) , if the volume slider shows up when you adjust the volume you are not in exclusive but if it doesn’t you are . Sometimes in the past I’ve had to alt enter twice to get it to work but since most of 2021 it worked straight off
