  1. Thank you very much for answering my friend.

I do not want to upload from version 1.56, flight in virtual reality.

I have tried on another disk different to install version 2.5 and I have taken a great disappointment in virtual reality.

The image quality is much worse than in 1.56 on the caucasus map.

I have tried to touch everything, the colors, the brightness, the image quality in general is absolutely unreal.

The performance is much worse, I have a very powerful PC and can not with version 2.5, i have a juddering in vr (I7 6700k, 32 ddr4 2600, m2 256ssd, titan xp).

The summary would be, in the version 1.56 of the caucasus in vr, much better quality of image, everything more real and the cleanest image.

Also a much better performance in vr, no juddering in anything moment fly over the caucasus map.

Said all this, please how can I solve so that my huey h1 with the motors turned off does not move to the rhythm of the waves on top of an aircraft carrier at zero speed of navigation ???.

Thank for help me dear friends.

    Greetings.

You can't solve it in 1.5.6

    p.s.

I play in VR and have much better quality in frame times and overall graphics quality unmatched by 1.5. I even went to bench frame times. I have to admit there is more stuttering in VR in newer DCS versions - they did something wrong with streaming engine

You will have to get used to swimming helis and other 1.5.6 quirks. Have fun!

  2. Did you notice a significant improvement with 32GB of RAM? I've been wondering about that, but the stuff is awfully expensive.

I've tried running it on minimum settings. It improves framerates, but doesn't help with stuttering.

    AD

Turn lowest settings possible, ALT-TAB to windows, run process explorer. Turn on GPU tab, Network tab, disk tabs to find what's your system is doing (click on the tab to make it in descending order).

You can move settings folder to ssd like some other guy said (it won't help much), moving pagefile to SSD is good also. DO not keep your disks at almost full.

RAM helps coz You can turn pagefile to smallest possible (just don't turn it off because some processes could start to behave strangely looking for it and slowing down your system) and DCS has some memory leaks also. But RAM is pricey.

It won't help with stutter from other processes tho - you have to use process explorer for that. Just find what is working while you play and verify if you can uninstall or turn it off. It doesn't have to use 30% of CPU it can be 2% and be the cause. Remember your CPU doesn't have to be utilized 100%. It just will not make it in frame time.

Try NVIDIA 385.69 drivers because it's known some new drivers are not slower but has little less frame time consistency.

  3. I have an 8GB video card (GTX 1070) and 16GB of DDR4 3000 MHz RAM.

Turning down graphics detail doesn't make any difference, so I'm not inclined to think it's a memory issue... although, DCS does use a heck of a lot of memory, I've seen it use 60GB, that's a huge swap file :)

    AD

    Look at my second post.

Also keep in mind that DCS has some memory leaks now.

  4. From what I've discovered using perfmon, here's the most popular files are getting queued by DCS 2.5:

Mods\terrains\Caucasus\vfstextures\LandTexturesSummer.zip (we are flying in the summer)

    Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Surface\Caucasus.surface5 (6G in size)

    Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Scenes (1G in size)

\AppData\Local\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache (if there's is a setting in nvidia profile to store shader cache)

That files constantly produce read transactions.

I'm seriously considered moving to M.2 960 to eliminate all that latencies, but now I'm not sure.

Game engine data streaming is perfectly fine i have it too but it's very fast. What's your specs? if you have SSD already m.2 won't help much. It gets worse if you have:

    • 16GB RAM,

    • Almost full SSD (it gets slower)

    • opened browser while playing

    • 2-4GB Graphics memory

    • some processes ruining your cpu or gpu (process explorer - turn on GPU tab, it can show you disk, cpu, gpu, network usage, )

than your problem is probably on this list

Turning off my network adapter (WiFi) fixed my stutters but I don't know if that would apply to everyone. It seems there are many different fixes for it and not many ideas for the root cause.

You may try turning off your monitor - it will help with stutter for sure :megalol:

  5. You can try nvidia 385.69 drivers. Many users tend to have less stutter with them.

You can move your pagefile to ssd, buy some RAM(i know right;) ) and turn down some settings, try lowest first to check if your setup can handle lowest without stutter and go from there. Watch out for preload setting

EDIT: don't mess with affinity please, there's no magic affinity trick - it will mess your setup. Just turn off unneeded processes (check it with ctrl+shift+esc and cleanup your mess if something works too much there. Don't kill important services just unneeded ones)

  6. In an empty mission, my 8700k at 5.0 GHz can just barely keep up with my 1080 ti at low altitude at high-ish settings. The result is mostly 90 fps with the Rift. In this situation, about 20% of the CPU is used and 90-100% of the GPU. The thing is, that 20% CPU usage is 100% on a core + 40% or so on a second + windows scattered around 12 virtual cores. That 100% core is the problem. If AI units are added, it can't keep up and 45 fps follows. I can get around this by dropping settings, flying higher or using less demanding parts of the map. But the problem remains, the game is far too dependent on single thread performance in VR.

Vulkan should fix this as it allows for easily using multiple CPU threads to feed the GPU. But really no telling when that update will happen. Additionally, we can expect a new generation of GPU's this year. They will easily exceed the capabilities of even an overclocked 8700k.

We have 11ms for CPU and at minimal settings it takes 10ms sometimes to prepare a frame in DCS in VR. It's still too much. I totally agree on Vulcan but have no delusions - it's not some kind of magic wand to resolve DCS problems with rendering pipeline in VR.

Things like simultaneous multi-projection (halves rendered objects count) and lens matched shading WILL be much bigger for VR than vulcan itself.

    Anything would be great tho

  7. Wondering why you turn off terrain shadows and cockpit global illumination if it had no impact to performance?

It has impact on performance - just not on CPU frame render times. First you need to take care of CPU if it makes in time with frame data than You want to max out your GPU potential but not overload it and make it in time frame. All in all i can't have 11ms in VR so I'm choosing lower than 22ms variant for both CPU and lower than 22ms for GPU. I hope my explanation makes sense

  8. For.me it doesn't look much more different in VR with 1.8 pixel density.

I mean it does look nicer, sharper and more colorful due to deferred shading being on. But on the ground trees still look flat. Overall it's a much nicer experience. The A10 cockpit is much more a vibrant dark in VR in 2.5 again due to deferred shading. But at least it was smooth. I'm using the same settings jabbers used when he did the VR settings YouTube video.

Tree rendering is anisotropic filtering dependable now. Change it to x16

  9. Okay, I don't understand this! I tried it again and now it is working.

Sorry guys, dont know what was happened???!!

I just did the update and tried some training missions yesterday...

However. Maybe one of you can help me with another problem/bug I had noticed.

If I turn on the Mirrors, they cause strong performance issues. The framerate get almost halved. Is there any way to fix that?

Yes, turn off mirrors. It's known issue, its performance killer:smilewink:
