For sure I will check on that during the first quarter of 2022!

The Gazelle is now also part of the closed club of the 06th MHR "skins" 😁😁

    http://2nd-ffs.org/index.html#about

The map doesn't display location when placed on 2nd monitor, which makes it useless.

Alexander and his "Mi-24" team have clearly announced that the multimonitor will be supported but later.

It's definitely not a priority, there is a lot more interesting thinks to do before that.
I have nevertheless modified some files in the OB version in order to have the map on a second screen in my simpit. Currently it's not perfect but it gives an overview of the area where you flying...
Fingers crossed that multimonitoring will be part of the next following updates.
The map currently displayed is not in high resolution either, a bit like the image in the Raduga aiming system before. We have seen that this has already been corrected...
We just have to be patient because I am sure that a lot of improvements will come in the following weeks...

    • Thanks 1
  5. That's for sure a master piece !

When available on the Virpil Website ? 😉

Are you thinking of producing a document that explains all the construction, the origin of certain parts, the switch models, the connection to the LB board, etc.?
With of course the files that would allow to reproduce the parts with a 3D printer...

Link? Would be nice to see the work!

     Mind blown.

    It looks amazing.

I have to ask, does your build have a physical auto center?

If not you will find that monocle slewing will be a constant drifting unless u know where the center of the pot will be.

It was making my build auto center that much harder

    I totally agree !

What a magnificent job Mole !!
I remember when you told me that you were thinking of buying a 3D printer !😃

What a long way to go!

  7. Hello LucShep,

Thank you very much for your feedback and the comprehensive analysis.

It was clear and comprehensive ! 👍

It actually confirms what I thought.
A last more practical question, in view of my Maximus II pro Hero motherboard and my i9 11900K CPU, is it better to take 2 x 32Gb or 4x16Gb (or does it play no role other than keeping slots available for future upgrade?or ist it?)

    Thxxxxx

  8. Hi all,
    I'm busy building a DCS-only, VR-ready war machine.
I already have the CPU, GPU, MB and I am currently looking for the best RAM.

I'm actually still wondering about three things:

    • Is it really worth it to get 4.000Mhz RAM compared to 3.200Mhz for DCS?
    • Is it really important to reduce latency and therefore take CL16 instead of CL19?
    • Is there any real added value in taking 64Gb instead of 32Gb?

    My CPU: I9-11900K
CM: Asus Rog Maximus III Hero
    GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 FE

Thx a lot for you advices...

    Grab CTLD and CSAR.
CTLD allows transport of troops and kit.

CSAR auto generates rescue missions for downed pilots who’ve successfully bailed out.

Already done....Nice but a little bit boring when you don't see what you do !
Knowing that in addition the Huey and the Mi-8 perfectly allow this kind of operations in reality...

OK, got mine in yesterday and now have it installed to the chair and setup in the Virpil software.  DCS does see it.

I have only tried to test a few times and am missing something.  I have the TCS Rotor Plus base with the Sharka 50 head.

I have tried in the Mi-8MTV2.

With hot starts, the engines die just after unpausing the game.  If I do a cold start every thing seems to work fine.

Do I need to do something with the idle.  Thanks.

It's a current bugg on DCS and it was already reported.

Same issue with the Mi-24P. Try with the Ka-50 and you will see that all is fine.

So, it's not an issue connected with your Virpil collective....

  11. If you want to fly an helicopter : Go go go for the Hind (or the Mi-8)!

If you just want to destroy all the targets on the ground whitout to much difficulties in controlling your machine : KA-50

  12. Thx a lot for your analyse LucShep. For sure it's never a good time to upgrade your sim PC because we know that something new will come in the following months. A new GPU (ike the RTX 4090), a new Intel CPU,...

At one moment you have to decide what to do. I have made the decision to build my new PC before the end of the year. I am also quite pessimistic about the prices of electronics and it is certain that the new items will still be above the current prices (which are already above the "normal"). My wallet has a limit to how much I can spend versus how much I can make...😉

The difference in performance between 10900K and 11900K is marginal, be it in single-threaded or multi-threaded apps (see here), it's like splitting hairs.

So go for which one gets to be more affordable.

Having said that, and having choices, I would go for neither of them.... have you noticed the i9 10850K is selling at $435.00? 😮

Makes the 10850K a far better investment than either 10900K or 11900K, also over the Ryzen 7 5800X, considering all things.

I'd go instead for the i9 10850K because 1) it's an i9 10900K just with less 100MHz on stock turbo clocks (5.2Ghz instead of 5.3Ghz) which is same as none difference on a chip of this caliber (10 cores/20 threads and also overclockable), and 2) it's less expensive than other i9 "K" counterparts, for performance that translates into the same performance in real life usage (just ~0,7% average difference, see here).

Thx for the info, really interesting...
I will further check all these before placing any order!

  14. I always had Pc with Intel CPu. I currently have an i7-8700k, a 1080ti GPU and all is running very well with all DCS settings in High or even ultra.

Multimonitor and my main screen is a Samsung G9 Odyssey.
I will migrate to VR  end of 2021 and that’s why I want to upgrade my computer.

I always had good results with all my intel CPUs and it’s aslo why I don’t want to migrate to another system.

And you are correct, nobody knows when Vulkan will be up and running on DCS...We don’t have received any updates regarding this topics since a very long time despite the fact that ED has annouced Vulkan for Q3 2021!
