  1. NOT true, not at all. If you know your BFM and your jet you won't need paddle switch in DCS neither.
  2. AFAIK he never flew an EPE hornet though, only A model. In 2.5.6 drag for pylons was added so now that's also a factor, i haven't tested how much it affects turn performance but speed wise difference is clearly noticable. Also F-16 STR is limited by pilot G- modelling right now which REALLY hurts it's effectivenes in BFM so don't draw any conclusions based on that.
  3. I agree with Maverick here. Avoid the WIP AACQ mode for now and the radar is really strong in any scenario. Sure it has a few minor bugs here and there but nothing that prevents you from owning people on PvP if you know what you're doing. :)
  4. I'm pretty sure that the client and server were on different versions of the game (stable and beta) which causes issues like people seeing missiles as something else than they actually are, in this case HARM as an AIM-7.
  5. Event: 1v1 Squadron Name: SF Squadron Contact person Discord ID: Kapsu#1176 Aircraft Selection: F-18C Pilots: Finland - SF_Kapsu Ok Stuge now is your chance, come and get me :D
  6. Back then biggest debate was caused by not clearly stating the merge rules before the event and most of the participants assumed that pre merge maneuvering was allowed (diving to the deck included) and trained for the event accordingly and not so much about the maintain altitude rule itself. But i agree with Stuge here, 14 - 16k ft would probably be the best option.
  7. See post #5 on this thread; "U.S. General Accounting Office Report to Congressional Committees. Navy Aviation. F/A-18E/F will Provide Marginal Operational Improvement at High Cost."
  8. This airshow HUD video shows Hornet sustaining ~360kts/6g and ~420kts/7.5g. Would be cool to know exact weight and which engines it has.
  9. Cleaning all temporary files with CCleaner has always fixed the SA page stutter issue for me.
  10. SF Squadron - F/A-18C - Preferably blue but any ground based F-18 is fine 1. SF_Kapsu 2. SF_FATMAN 3. SF_Huntercamo 4. SF_Bushmanni 5. SF_Snhur 6. SF_Farrago (F-18 or F-15)
  11. Thanks for hosting Maverick and 104th, good show as always! And thanks to my opponents for all the good fights, that nervous and exciting feeling of competition always makes things more interesting. :) Here's the final match from my point of view if someone is interested:
  12. Not true. All of the flight control surfaces are powerd by both left and right hydraulic systems via switching valves. What happens at start up (at least to my understanding) is that when right engine is started up and hydraulic pump starts to provide pressure and those surfaces that are not behind switching valve (left aileron for example) are powered pretty fast, but those surfaces that are behind switching valve are powered only after hydraulic pressure is high enough to beat the spring loaded switching valve. On the blue angels start up video left engine isn't running in my opinion when right aileron starts to move. Correct me if i'm wrong ofc.
  13. Check your radar display for PRF setting, if it says PDI (without AIM-7 selected and on STT) or nothing at all then it's bugged and won't show anything. Selecting a2a gun is easiest way to fix it and at least so far have worked everytime. This seems to happen quite a lot in MP airstart missions but i don't remember ever seeing it on missions where you start from ground.
  14. This has been issue ever since the EA relase; taking new air spawn slot might get the radar bugged. It's easy to notice by checking radar PRF on radar page, if it says HI or MED then radar works but if it says PDI or nothing at all then it's bugged. Fastest way to fix it is to select A2A gun and then go back to missiles.
  15. Works just fine for me, i get missile warnings from R-77s on both single- and multiplayer. Make sure that you don't maneuver in such way that it puts missile on RWR blind spot.
  16. As far as i know no, it won't center the antenna elevation in the real thing neither when there is no input. That would be rather stupid anyway since pilot would have to hold the antenna elevation control all the time when scanning below or above ownship altitude. Personally i don't find it problematic at all to use key bindings (hat switch on HOTAS on my setup) for antenna elevation, most of the time i watch altitude bracket on TDC and adjust antenna elevation to scan certain altitude range anyway. If i want to center antenna elevation i just place the antenna angle caret roughly at the center, with 4 bar scan it doesn't really matter if it's exactly at the center or not.
  17. I already reported it a while ago with steps to reproduce it every time, still not fixed. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=225295
  18. Great event 51st and TAW. Execution really was top-notch and i honestly don't know if that could have been done any better. Also stream was a joy to watch, quality was great and Stuge is always such a great commentator, good job Moltar and Billy. Speed for planes would be nice thing to have though. I do have some criticism too. I've said this before and i must say this again, urban area with tall buildings just isn't a place for BFM competition in my opinion and that was the reason why i always went to more flat southern side of the bubble. Also place like Dubai isn't exactly frame rate friendly location, but the biggest problem with the location was that it was just stupidly easy to lose visual against the buildings. Especially small grey Mirages were really hard to see against the ground. JHMCS in F-18 was game changer in this regard and i think i would have had a lot more difficult time without it. Overall great event and keep up the good work. Here's how it looked from my perspective in case someone interested haven't seen these already:
  19. That's not true for the F-18. Hornet uses cylindrical countermeasure cartridges and there is only one size for them. However square ones used on F-16, F-15, A-10 etc. have single and douple slot cartridges for flares and since ED models the double ones we got them to Hornet too which just is wrong and unrealistic. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.
  20. Unfortunately i have to withdraw from this event due to work. :(
  21. BOL would be nice to have, but since only Finland and Australia uses it for F-18 i doubt we will ever see it in DCS F-18. But DCS F-18 should have twice as many flares (120 total) than it currently has though, that alone would improve survivability quite a lot.
  22. No mods. I have tried now pretty much everything that i can think of, repair, reinstalled the F-18 module via module manager, disabled LotATC server and Tacview, deleted fxo and metashaders from saved games and this issue is still there. Mission is default one but i can reproduce this on any mission. Only thing that comes to my mind is that i accidentally canceled the latest OB update at unpacking phase, is it possible that something got corrupted there? But reinstalling the module should have fixed that if that was the case right?
  23. Here you go, track file attached. f-18 antenna elevation freeze 2.5.3.24984.trk
