  1. Any larrge AAR capable helicopter would be very welcome, even if it would be the earlier, less advanced HH-53.
  2. Any steam gauge version would end up at the top of my list. Steam gauges is where the real fun is.
  3. A possible functionality I realized could improve the immersion/usefulness of sling loads, would be to have your 'crew' guide the cargo to a point. At this point in time, the crew chief (If you have one, looking at the Ka-50) will lead you to a chosen cargo and put you in a position to pick it up. The same does not exist for the release point of cargo, without extensive scripting. My suggestion would be to have a way to designate a target where you want to put the sling load, either through the ME or 'on the fly' somehow, that then would allow the 'crew chief' to guide you towards the point, the same way it currently does for the pick up. The motivation is that precise placement of cargo is quite hard in all modules that aren't the Mi-8 and even there it is still quite difficult when you have to constantly swap between looking down and back into the cockpit. With an addition like this, you can use your 'crew', even if you are flying alone.

  9. Correct, Harrier is not FBW. It has a stabilization/dampening system to help you fly it, but no full-on fly by wire setup. As for Mark's question, it has a Q-feel system to provide feedback to the pilot since all surfaces are hydraulically controlled, meaning no natural feedback is felt. I can't remember exactly what the Q-feel involves, but at least one part involves springs fitted to the flight stick between the stick and the hydraulic actuators, which is why the pilot isn't supposed to jerk the stick around before there is sufficient hydraulic pressure, to avoid damaging the spring setup. I know the AV-8B NATOPS has more information on it, but look for it at your own risk.

  11. I personally think it should be in the rearm menu, simply because it is much more user friendly. The radio menu system is adaptable, but a pain in the behind to use.

  13. No, there is no functionality like that as far as I know. It would be really useful and I haven't seen any requests for it either.
  14. I am assuming that it is a work in progress, especially since it wasn't even present in the changelog. So right now it does end up funky with the mix of old and new sounds. Though one cool aspect added is that you can hear the igniters crackling during engine startup now.
  15. I have played around with it, but at the same time as flying at high density altitude and physical altitude, so nothing really conclusive. But with the "remaning service life" set around the middle of the bar, I could not manage to hover IGE with 1600kg internal cargo at the Kerman AFB. I was also trying to simulate the even earlier TV2-117 engines, so I'd just say, play around with it until it feels fun.
  16. What I recall, and @AeriaGloria can verify, is that the OFP2 is newer and weighs more, but also has a more potent engine to balance out the added weight. Before the last update, the simulated OFP2 did not have that extra powerful engine and therefore had quite crappy ballistics, which lead to different range tables. Now it should behave closer to the KOM, but will still differ, so use the KOM tables, but you might have to dial it in to fit the OFP2 ballistics better.
  17. Yup, I'm really hoping for a built in weight simulation, instead of using my own janky scripts to simulate troops disembarking. Combine that with animated troops exiting and all cargo modules would be golden.
  18. For the CH-47, I have some "very serious" suggestions of possible slingload cargoes that can be added: T-Rex and UFO ED pretty please? Okay, mostly a joke. And I know both of those are Sea knights and not Chinooks. But I am going make liveries for the Chinook in the same pattern because it is the best camouflage.
  19. I mostly agree, the helicopter itself is definitely less complex, although should not be underestimated. Where I bet the complexity lays is that they are probably improving things outside of the helicopter. Things like slingloading, troop transport and such. Without those parts, a non-ACH-47A Chinook would be quite boring to have, at least without the communitys' talented scripters.

    As much as I would love to have the MH-47, it is most certainly too classified. But at least the version we are/might be getting is pretty much as close to an MH-47 as you can get without it actually being an MH-47. Same as you corbu, I hope we can get an aerial refuelling option even though it would not be realistic. If anything just for the possibility to showcase the new basket physics whenever those arrive.

  22. The fuel dump only empties the fuel in the wings. This leaves the 2700lbs of fuel in the fuselage. So no, you can't dump to less than 2700lbs.
  23. Two possibilities: First is that the engine RPM has to be higher than a certain percentage to provide enough bleed air to drive the gun, which is something like 80% at ground level, which increases with altitude. Second possibility is that your nozzles are not at full forward, pushing nozzles past 30 degrees cuts off weapons, possibly earlier for the cannon. Summary: Don't cut throttle when diving to attack with the gun and don't use nozzles while intending to use weapons.
  24. Time to bring this topic back up again. With the addition of the Falklands, having a "full size" rocket pod would be very fitting. One of the main weapons used by Harrier GR.3s during the conflict was the 2 inch RP. Now, the 2.75" Hydra is not a 2" RP, the AV-8B is not a Harrier GR.3, but in the interest of running the same kind of missions with a rather similar aircraft, having 19 round Hydra pods would be very pleasing. 14 Hydra rockets in LAU-68s is just not giving the right kick, Zunis are fun, but not the same. So once again, the AV-8B is cleared for LAU-61s filled with 2.75" Hydras as I stated in the original post. I know the loadout is not used by the USMC on Harriers, but neither are the Zunis or the AGM-65F. So for the sake of the Falklands missions, pretty please?
