  1. You can get easily get 0,1mm precision with regular "analog" calipers. That's what the small (Vernier) scale is for. :) First you read the main line. So in this image, 20mm. Then you check the smaller scale and see at which number it lines up the most. So 0 is a bit to the right of the line above, so is 1 and 2. The line at 3 seems pretty straight. One bar left from it seems the most straight. So 28. So this scale reads 20,28mm == 2,028cm  (technically the caliper I used in this image has 0,2mm precision, but with some good eyework you can work out pretty accurately the 0,1mm difference)
  2. The 2 buttons you are looking for are "Special Modes FWD" and "Special Modes AFT". If you check page 25 of the Mirage Manual (Chuck's guides are awesome, but a manual, they are not. They are guides). You will find this:
  3. Sneaking from below works pretty good. Makes it harder for them to notch too. Being ready to lose the lock (and quickly re-acquire is) when you see them turning also helps. And just try coming as close as possible to your target. The mirage turns on a dime, so just keep hitting those 90 degrees turns when you hear a missile launch warning until the tone disappears. A tactic I use often is to just light up the bandit with STT to trick him into notching (and thus losing a lot of speed) a few miles before he is "in fire range". Helps a lot.
  4. You mean autolock such as boresight/vertical scan/horizontal scan? Use the Special Modes Forward and Aft buttons. Also, wrong forum category. There is a M2000 section: https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=322
  5. Since a humor-module for users is not included in the Mig21, I would suggest you try a Chuck's guide. You can find the startup on page 34 *edit* Whilst typing this friendly advice, I was sniped by Fixen with the same response :D

    m2000c TACAN

Has been working fine for months. Only distance though, no direction. (as you would expect).
  7. If you have rudder pedals, go with the Huey. If you don't have pedals, buy some and go with the Huey. If you can't buy pedals, go with the Ka-50. :)
  8. Weapon selectors, defaulting back to guns when empty. The way selecting weapons in the real aircraft works is, on the throttle there is a 3 way switch. Using it you can select 3 "priority" modes. Priority A/A guns Neutral -> return to PCA selection Priority MAGIC So if you select for example the 530 on the PCA. And press "priority MAGIC". You selected weapon will be, MAGIC. With guns, guns, and having the priority switch in neutral, will select the 530 again. So nothing special so far. So lets say you select priority MAGIC. If you then fire both your magics and have no more remaining, it will select guns for you, automatically. If you then select 530, and fire both of them. Again it will auto select guns. So it's a way you can always have a weapon at you usage (and to switch between them fast and easy)
  9. I do, but is is not exactly "realistic" in terms of the real Mirage HOTAS (assignment wise) :music_whistling: I just binded everything I tend to use during combat-flights to buttons so I don't have to use my mouse while I run the risk of being engaged :) I have been using (and updating) it for months and it works great in high-pressure servers like the 104th. Only, I do not use the trustmaster Target software, but prefer to let DCS handle it. And just have everything binded inside (JSGME compatible) lua files. M2000C Warthog switches.zip
  10. On the throttle.. :music_whistling:
  11. After a dive and just for a short time. Or sustained? Because I have high speeds at sea level (Mach 1,8 and up) all the time, but only after I have just gone blasting down full burner from high alt. But it bleeds off pretty quickly. Most recent example is , where I start out at about 1150knts after a dive and do some turns and bleed down to 800kts pretty quick, like I would expect from the mirage. *Ignore the music on the video :music_whistling:

    F-5E Livery-Thread

Does anybody know a way to add paint to the body part of the nozzle? (not the split end). I haven't seen it on any of the livery's here (all of them use metalic nozzles). Because changing it in the tail texture does not change anything on that part. It still uses the metallic texture from the textures zip (I tried overwriting it inside the zip and it worked, but I want to do it for a single livery, not all of them :) ). Or was the painted nozzle only part of the NF-5 and not F-5? (I have seen it on most Dutch NF-5's and the Turkish ones, but not on F-5's).

    ECM upgrades

    Can't wait :notworthy:
  14. So i'm not sure what is going on here.. but since last week, I have had several occasions (on servers like 104th and TAW) where the settings forced me to start unaligned (my preferences have always aligned enabled, but if the server forces it on me for realism, The lazy guy I am, will just takeoff with faulty navigation. So, so far, everything is just as one would expect. Alignment is required by server settings, I skip it and just take-off. Taking the lack of INS precision (if any) for granted and generally having a HSI pointing 160 degrees the wrong way. No problems there :D However.. in cases where I do want to navigate, I intent to use the emergency (magnetic..) compass . And what happened? It showed the same deviation the INS had. And what makes it even more interesting, after I entered a waypoint using its coordinates (Bullseye on the screenshot). The needle on my HSI pointed straight at it when flying towards it. And while all of the instruments where telling me I was flying somewhere towards 344, right towards the bullseye. I was actually flying east (right towards the bullseye).
  15. To add to the list :smartass: - If you hotstart, the taxi light is not visible for other players (just yourself). Turning it off and on again, fixes it.

From checking the manual part about the "real HOTAS config", there seems to be a DISPENSE button on the stick and a RELEASE button on the throttle. From which I assume the first will control the firing of the modes. And the one on the throttle the EMERG release. Does this mean we will have to use the modes in order to use either chaff or flare? *Programs 4 and 5 seem to have the same function you can now get with seperate flare and chaff buttons. Which AFAIK are the temporary placeholder functions. But with this, we wont have the option anymore to (quickly) use either chaff or flare, without rotating the mode switch first, or is our only (realistic) option to just blow away a set of 6 chaffs and 3 flares in a sudden pinch?

Well, 30nm is far enough not to waste any missiles.. the 530's range is nowhere near that. :smartass:
  18. Just stick this in your joystick lua: {pressed = iCommandPlaneModeCannon, up = iCommandPlaneModeGrid, name = _('Priority A/A GUNS else PCA SELECT'), category = _('3-Pos. Switch Abstractions')}, {pressed = iCommandPlaneModeFI0, up = iCommandPlaneModeGrid, name = _('Priority MAGIC else PCA SELECT'), category = _('3-Pos. Switch Abstractions')},
  19. There already is a (active) screenshot thread. Last post 3 days ago. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160119

Ever tried diving like a bat outta hell? :P I must say, the new flight model (since 3 updates or something) took a while to get used to.. but now, I can make a smooth landing 10 seconds after diving with mach 1,4.. Not something I can do with the good'ol F-15 :D Just slap on the airbrakes, and pull up that nose and the Mirage pretty much falls right out of the sky.
  21. Correction on what? Try using letters to explain your problem.
