Great for what if scenarios, it's 1979 and Breznev drooled his way into Afghanistan while the Ayatollah dropped dead of a heart attack in France, USAF Phantoms suddenly deploy to friendly Shah land.

Flight suit wasn't just simple clothing it was also part of your safety kit with in built flash fire protection. Sleeves rolled up was definitely non regulation.

F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
Nodak replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4 Phantom
Frankly the complexity and amount of systems and machinery you guys replicate in a coded format is amazing in itself. It took an entire design team of engineers and a whole plant and many sub contractors and parts designers many years to build and assemble the real thing. And you guys have to reverse engineer it within a limited time, you don't get the latitude to decide the design since what is to be replicated is already fixed, thus making it even harder. What you guys are pulling off is nothing short of miraculous, so hats off. Not many who could do this to the levels these third party design teams do it. I'm tickled pink teams of guys like you merely exist to support this, from my perspective take all the necessary time you need and don't forget to breathe. Thanks for what you've done and do. -
Think your going to have to be a bit specific about what time period your asking about, the Phantom E covers well over 50 years, the air war scene has changed and evolved just a little bit over that span.

Considering that DCS Iranian flyers will be getting unlimited access and supplies of western inventory weaponry for their use in the virtual combat arena don't really see what the issue is. You'll be far better off that route.

We're rapidly approaching the old "Two Weeks" confirmed territory now. -

The old saying in MAC back in my day, fighter pilots make the papers, but trash haulers make the history. -
https://vrheadset.com/category/pc-vr-news-reviews/ If we get lucky something may emerge out of Panasonic's debacle this year yet, at least the new company already has several physical set designs based on years of Panasonic's floundering, flopping, and research to bring to market. The last one is right in bigscreens turf with the bonus of adjustable IPD and added adjustable diopitors for glasses wearers.

Build in necksaver (necksafer) into the game please
Nodak replied to fdski's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Why would anyone use a full 180 snap in VR, a 130 degree would be plenty to do six checks, you still have your field of view of at least over 90 degrees in most headsets, so take half that plus a little more neck twist flexibility for 50 + added degrees to get a nice rear view. A full 180 would be way to extreme and disorientating. With the extra half FOV and remaining neck turning ability you could literally see your opposite wing looking back, no thanks. And if the rear snap view is solidly locked in VR its hello puke city, especially when holding it while flying, while looking fully backwards. -
Collect them all, you won't be disappointed.

I totally disagree, one of the sleekest and hottest looking fighters in my eyes, exudes raw power, the appeal of a classic muscle car. Than when you slap on those groovy colors from yesteryear and hang those weapons, today's aircraft are drab gray lawn darts compared.

The theory is map making will become so fast eventually, most of it rapidly becoming automated, it'll become a snap to totally redo them. Trend says we're moving that way, of course I'm not going to say what year that'll happen.
-
I would strongly suspect as time moves on and the maps are making leaps and bounds in tech improvements it's going to get easier to update the older ones with the new tools and techniques at some point. Used to be years waiting for one single map, now it's two to three in a year with quality far surpassing anything previously done. At some point they're going to have to introduce the world curvature, don't see the point in two different simulations catering to the flat earth society. Barometric pressure will suddenly mean something.
