  1. If you ever leave the seat mid-flight and come back in everything will be fked up.

I even lost a LANTIRN joystick even tho pod was on the plane, but most weird one I had was that my binds didn't work and I was actually having pilots binds.

So what I could do is select Guns, flip master arm to on and fire the gun for 20 seconds while my pilot couldn't see anything after I waste all the rounds the pilot can fire the gun normally.

I could also shoot sidewinders and stuff.

Really borked imho, especially if you just fly normally and crash don't even bother joining back.

  2. Okay ...

I've made this same report 6 weeks ago on Reddit and devs replied there saying they will look into it and they did, a couple of weeks later it was said that this was patched and fixed on how it's supposed to work so I said fine, I have no problem waiting for a fix. (Expected it eagerly)

Next patch arrived and it behaved even more strange but I won't go in detail cause I will won't stop writing a wall of text and honestly I'm tired at this point.

More detail on this Reddit thread here (26 days ago as of making this report):

    Okay so today's patch 2.5.4.30038

If you're in Air to air mode and lock someone with PAL, for example, you will get a diamond on the HUD indicating a radar track showing where the enemy is, now this is all good and dandy.

In manual it's also stated that you need to see the pipper resembling a "gun" pipper showing your TCS track on the HUD, this didn't use to work at all but as of this patch this works when you're in STT ... however, if you drop the lock via jester or PLM the diamond + Pipper vanish from the HUD as if you don't have a TCS track at all even tho on the VDI screen you can see the TCS is still tracking the target.

This makes 0 sense, not to mention this was working just fine before the F-14 was released as seen from the videos in the Reddit thread but it was borked by a change that was made to not show the TCS pipper on the hud when steering tee was appearing on the HUD ...

And to add icing to the cake if you go into the RIO seat and flick the "TCS Slave switch" to "INDEPENDENT"

You will actually see the track of the target on the HUD even if you don't have him locked in STT radar mode and you lose the ability to use PAL acquisition ...

Not only that but when you use PAL the new STT locked target won't be required by the TCS instead it will keep tracking the old one no matter what position the TCS slave switch is on.

This is highly frustrating how things like these are not tested when they're "fixed".

I'm sorry if I'm being mean here but srsly guys it's been a month now and how is this not checked?

I guess it was my mistake to send a PM to the dev instead of making a post here in the bug section.

Sigh ... now have to wait 2 more weeks to see what happens

  3. Jester just IFF's the targets, WCS (Weapon computer system) puts priority and track on unknown and enemy units automatically.

If you want to utilize TWS mode, Jester will use TWS auto mode by default if you're RIO you can use TWS manual so you can move the radar antenna up/down and left/right.

But the basic concept is simple.

    - Master Arm ON

    - Select Pheonix Missiles

Any Unknown or Enemy contact will be tracked by WCS and will receive a priority number to the right of the track symbol.

The number on the left references the altitude.

You can't TWS a data linked target cause it's controlled by INS and your INS can drift and be shit.

Sometimes INS and radar locked target can be miles apart

When you Fox 3 it will turn into a countdown.

    That's it.

  4. You mean the radio menu button - default '\'?

It is used with the option I mentioned before. And it is used when 'Easy Comms' option is enabled - then you can use it to communicate with any radio.

I use it to contact ground crew but I presume it is not necessary?

As in you can just use other radio commands even tho frequencies are not set and canopy is opened

  5. If you check the special options for the F-14, you'll find a dropdown menu under "RADIO MENU AND PTT BEHAVIOUR". The options available are:

    - "Default" - self explanatory

    - "OPEN MENU: RADIO MENU KEY FOLLOWED BY PTT (EXTERNAL RADIO PRIORITY)" - If you want to open a radio menu, you have to press the radio comms menu button (default is '\') and then press the PTT associated with the radio you want to use. When you don't prime it with the '\', the PTT are only exported to SRS.

    - "HIDE RADIO MENU ON PTT RELEASE" - The radio menu is open only as long as you keep the PTT pressed.

My personal preference is the second option: "OPEN MENU: RADIO MENU KEY FOLLOWED BY PTT (EXTERNAL RADIO PRIORITY)". This way I have to assign only one additional button - for the '\' - and I can control both the sim radios and SRS.

    I have a question ...

Is normal "" bind used in the F-14 at all?

Or is it completely useless and everything is done via the Mic buttons?

  6. Jabbers mentioned in the Heatblur discord that the functionality of this mod will not work in the future, so I wouldn't rely on it to be honest

Luckily we have Heatblur as our devs and they are perfectly sane and rational human beings so we can use this temporarily until they implement a way of jester using the TGP

  7. F-14 is out already, Currently its in the Open Beta version of DCS.

Release usually has the same patch opet beta has but 1-2 weeks later, if you really want to wait on release branch instead of switching to Open beta version I'm afraid you're gonna have to wait.
