  1. Just curious, asking for my group, does this mission offer a variety of missions for choppers or are choppers simply used to ferry special ops teams to and fro? Also, and forgive my ignorance, is this a persistent mission, a dynamic mission, or other? Thanks! Grifter-RLG
  2. RLG is an North American group that flies DCS BETA version. You can find us at www.rlgaming.com Right now, we're flying modified versions Surrexen's persistent COOP missions and train on Through the Inferno Syria. We play on PG, Caucuses, Syria, and NTTR maps. We use teamspeak 3 for communication and so you’ll need a working microphone. We have members on the West coast, East coast, from the middle of the U.S., and Canada. Tuesday is our practice night and Wednesday night more of us show up for missions. We're a fairly easy going group. We don't take ourselves too seriously. Even so, we generally try to practice sound tactics and work as a team. We're looking for fellow pilots in their twenties or older. Must be fluent in English. We accept all experience levels. Looking for pilots willing to learn or teach. We currently fly 8-11PM EDT (0:00 AM to 3:00 AM next day Zulu Time) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We mainly keep the DCS and military aviation conversation going throughout the week on our forums. Nothing fancy. Just a bunch guys that have a passion for military aviation! If you’d like to hop on our server to see if we’re a good fit for you, message me and introduce yourself. Or you can introduce yourself at rlgaming.com, and someone there will be in touch with our server information.
  3. Having the same problem here. Can't read my DDI's and HMD in the F/A-18. Everything is too faint. Needs a hotfix.
  4. Same problem with F/A 18 HMD and DDI's Flew for a bit today and found that the DDI's were faint and really impossible to read in sun glare. HMD was especially faint despite being on the highest brightness setting.
  5. Can't Uncage Mavs I'm Bones' wingman and I also had this issue. Perhaps I didn't let the mavs warm up long enough, but I doubt it. I think I started to warm them well before target. I couldn't select the DDI with my Mav page open as my sensor of interest. I went back to A2A and then back to A2G mode. I finaly had control of the Mav page and could slew the Mav's eye. However, the missile would not fire off the rail. My plane had suffered no damage during flight.
  6. Okay thanks. That's what I thought. Appreciate it.
  7. Hi, Wondering if when I create SAM sites, I must set them to "weapons free"? I know that the SAM units are complete. But, will they not engage me if I do give them a standing "weapons free" order to do so? Thanks, Grifter-RLG
  8. Ah that’s a bummer. I normally crest backups as I go but I was in such a tear I hadn’t done so. I was, in fact, saving the mission to then make a copies as a backup! Dang it. Guess I’ll start over then. Thanks for the info; this the first time this has ever happened to me with the ME. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. HI, I was nearly finished creating a mission in the Mission Editor. I normally save every five minutes or so, and then create a backup. I was about to create the backup, actually. I saved the file but the ME wouldn't close. I shut DCS down and when I came back in, the ME file browser does not see the mission even though it's present in the folder in the Windows 10 File Browser. I tried making copies and opening them, but the ME doesn't see any of them. The file seems to be corrupted. Any way I can open it? It be a shame to lose all that work. Thanks. Grifter-RLG
  10. Hi, I think the most recent update to DCS has broken your script. I'm getting a chunk error when I use it in the missions I make. The error is resolved by removing your script. Any chance, you're planning to update it? Thanks for all your hard work! Grifter-RLG
  11. Yes, as this was a separate issue, having isolated and achieved the hover, I thought it prudent to make a separate post dedicated to the switch waypoint issue. I think I follow what you’re suggesting; however, the way I had it previously set wasn’t working. I’ll mess around with it a bit more using your suggestion to add a stock condition. However I think I already have a stop condition on the orbit itself that is creating the hover effect. So the stop condition command is already taken out with it just stopping the orbit itself and making the helicopter hover. If I can’t get it to work, I’ll definitely post a copy of the mission here. It’s probably something either you or someone else will see you in a matter of seconds an if I can’t get it to work, I’ll definitely post a copy of the mission here. I’m probably overlooking something rather simple. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Got it to work! Thanks Eno! In case anyone else is struggling with this, here is what I did: 1. Originally I only had two waypoints for this unit: 0 and 1. I decided to add an additional waypoint: 0, 1, and 2. 2. I set the chopper to spawn upon the part of the coalition entering zone, and that worked. Then at initial waypoint 0, I set it to racetrack orbit between 0 and 1. 3. Although it may not be necessary because it is already in a larger zone that triggered it's spawing, I set inside a smaller trigger zone dedicated to getting the chopper to hover. 4. When the unit enters (spawns) into this zone, I set flag #2, which is assigned to the chopper, to a value of 1. 5. I then created another trigger for time since flag set to 3 seconds; the resulting action of this trigger is to set flag #2's value to 0. 6. The stop condition for the chopper's orbit is set to flag #2 and is UNCHECKED. The chopper doesn't even move. It spawns and stays hovering above the burning tanker perfectly! Again, thanks to Eno for all the help.
  13. I'm still having problems with the AI helicopter not switching its waypoint. I want it to leave its orbit after a certain time has elapsed. I have the following: 1. Helicopter is set to spawn over the burning tanker upon Part of the Coalition entering the trigger zone. This works. 2. Helicopter then orbits burning tanker (because for the life of me I can't get it to hover! @#&)#%!) This also works. 3. I set a Perform Command to Switch Waypoint. The waypoint spawns and orbits on initial waypoint 0. I set the condition in the Switch Waypoint command to elapsed time: 8:1:5/0. Doesn't work. Fine, I set a flag #4's value to 1 upon the helicopter spawning into the zone. I set another trigger to Time Since Flag 900 seconds (15 minutes). Still doesn't work. In both cases, the helicopter immediately deviates from its orbit and flies off toward the coastline instead of waypoint 1 where the carrier is located. Does anyone know how I can fix this so that he helicopter flies to waypoint 1 after 15 minutes of orbiting the tanker? Really hoping someone can help. Thanks. Grifter-RLG
  14. Hey Eno, Thanks for replying. I will give it a try. I've been messing with flags on and off under stop condition, and haven't been successful. Perhaps the speed at zero is the difference maker, I dunno. Hopefully it will work. Then, hopefully, I can switch waypoint once a certain condition is met. But, the thing is that the when I set the command to switch waypoint and fill out the necessary info, the line item in the window still lists a question mark. So I'm missing something or other. Anyway, I appreciate your suggestion and will give it a try.
  15. Hi, I'm building a mission, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting the AI helicopter to do two things: 1.hover for a certain period of time has elapsed OR a condition is met. 2.Once that time has elapsed or the condition is met, I want it to switch to the next waypoint so it will RTB. Can anyone tell me or direct me to instructions on how to set this up? I've messed with triggers, flags, time more, but I haven't figured out the right combination. I've placed the helo in orbit around the ship since I can't get it to hover. It's not ideal, but I would accept that if it would then transition to it's RTB waypoint after a trigger of some kind. But it refuses to do so. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks. Grifter-RLG Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I had BS1 with the BS2 upgrade installed and working just fine. Was on my profile page at digitalcombatsimulator.com and saw you could enter both licenses and consolidate down to one license for BS2. Now every time I load DCS, I get prompted to bind the license to my account. It's a pain and it slows my loading time to the game's main menu. I tried using the registry key editor that wipes out the registry for BS2 as indicated on DCS support page: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/564/#1780273 But no joy. I also used the module manager to shut the module off and turn it back on again, but no joy. Anyone know how I fix this thing so I don't have to keep entering the stupid license every time I load the sim? Thanks. EDIT: I fixed this problem by deleting the module from my computer. Click on the trash can next to the module in the module manager under the "install" tab. Then, just to be sure, run the delete registry for BS2 linked in my original post. Then, reboot your computer. Finally start DCS and it will download the module; provide your registry key, and you should be good. Just thought I would share in case anyone else experiences this difficulty.
  17. I'm having a similar problem. I installed a new motherboard and cpu. I was running BS1 with the BS2 upgrade, and decided to take ED's offer to consolidate those into Black Shark 2 through my profile on digitalcombatsimulator.com. Unfortunately, BS2 asks me to bind my license every time I load DCS now. I tried using the Reg File key file found here to correct my registry, restarted my computer, and still got prompted to bind my key before loading to the DCS menu screen. I'm not completely following what you guys are talking about. Should I uninstall the game or the module? Thanks. Grifter-RLG
  18. Appreciate the replies! Okay, will have to get creative or just accept that the carrier group does it's job...too well.
  19. Hi, I'm making a mission set for some friends, and I would like the F/A 18's and 14's to defend the fleet from an enemy airstrike intent on destroying it. The fleet consists of the Stennis and supporting vessels like Ticonderoga and Perry class vessels. These vessels are launch anti-air missiles and destroying the enemy aircraft too effectively, leaving little for the fleet's interceptors to engage. I could, I suppose, move the fleet further away allowing for the Interceptors to reach the airstrike first. But that means a longer flight for my friends and we like to maximize our precious combat/flight time when possible. Is there a trigger zone I could set up? Or, should I adjust the fleet's ROE somehow? Ideally, I would like the fleet to only attack enemy aircraft that get by our intercept screen. Thanks for any suggestions you might offer. Grifter-RLG
  20. Thanks for replying guys. Okay I'll stick with the infantry trick. I was placing them on top of the building and they were sinking inside of it. I will try placing them around the building to see if that helps. Hey, is this the script you fellas are referring to?: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=141297 I may have to switch to a ground unit so that it doesn't lose sight of target in this case.
  21. Hi, I've been searching on these forums and others for a solution to this dilemma, and it seems like there isn't one but I'm very new to using the Mission Editor. So I want a predator to serve as an AFAC and lase a building. My F-18 will then drop LGB's on said building, neutralizing the threat to freedom. Simple, right? Not so fast. Apparently, the AFAC will not lase a static object, which is the building in this case. I found a lot of old threads on these forums that suggested you put soldiers and a AAA in a group and set them on the roof. Have the AFAC lase the group, and then set a trigger in the ME to have the building blow up when the AAA suffers a certain amount of damage. Unfortunately, my AFAC refuses to see the AAA on the roof despite being only 5,000 feet above and essentially circling the target. Another poster suggested in an old thread that you have the AFAC lase coordinates and put the building on top of those coordinates, if I understood his post correctly. Doesn't make sense to me because the building would be blocking that point on the ground and the AFAC wouldn't be able to see it? He or she didn't provide more information in that particular thread and I haven't seen info on this notion elsewhere as of yet. So, I have no idea how to do this or if it is even possible. Any suggestions as to how to solve this frustrating problem, I'd love to hear them. It is rather irksome given that you would think you'd be able to lase something as large as a building. Thanks. 22. Hi, I'm trying to optimize my graphics settings. Do I need to turn MSAA on in game to have my Nvidia card override it? In the Nvidia Control Panel I have the option to set AA to overide "any 3D application settings." But, there seems to be some debate about whether you need to turn the in-game MSAA off or leave it on. Can anyone tell me if I should leave it on or take it off? Thanks. Grifter-RLG
  23. Well, that's the problem. I'm not experiencing any errors but I also can't tell if the changes I made actually are taking effect. So I guess I'm asking if anyone can confirm this step as necessary to get the changes made to antialiasing to take effect in game. thanks.
  24. Hi, Someone recommended in another, older thread that it is necessary to go into the Users/Name/SavedGames/DCS/fxo folder and delete all files therein if you make changes to your antialiasing and want them to take effect. Can anyone confirm if this is still necessary? Obviously, making adjustments this way to settings requires me to shutdown DCS and restart it. Very tedious and I'm wondering if it is really necessary. Or can I just make changes at the Nvidia control panel and have it override game settings. Will that work? Would I still need to reboot? Thanks, Grifter-RLG.
  25. Hi thanks for responding, but I'm trimming because when I launch an AIM 9X, I experience seemingly excessive imbalance and therefore the plane rolls like it would if I had I launched a harm. I've checked my HOTAS and rudder pedals, but don't believe they are the culprit. If anyone has any other thoughts or has experienced this issue, I'm looking for a solution. Thanks again.
