  1. Here is a short translated sum up of the data cartridge:

It is both a RAM module and a CPU. Total RAM is 8 Mbyte (128 k is reserved for the application).

When connected to the aircraft it adds extra CPU power that can be utilized for navigation (Ternav).

It has an internal battery that holds the data for 18.2 h (internal clock that has no relation to the actual battery capacity).

It is connected through an 18 pin connector to the 1553B bus.

    Three main purposes:

    · Store and transfer mission data to the aircraft

    · Store and transfer data and program to the terrain navigation system (Ternav) and execute the programs when necessary (communicating with the CK)

    · Register and store data from the aircraft (from the A27L warner and CK variables of special interest. Some are stored continuous and some only upon certain events)

Thanks to this functionality it is possible to do some mission evaluation by both technicians and pilots.

  2. I would say it is similar to Helios, some things are better some things might be less. I.e. export instruments/gauges and indicators to a second monitor or client.

You still need to export viewports for radars and MFD´s etc. though.

I consider it easier to configure than Helios, but that is probably very much a personal thing.

Here is a thread with some images from a MIG-15 profile I have been working on. If you are used to Capt Z profiles in Helios you might think a stock Ikaurs profile looks poor when it comes to looks, but it is possible to add layers of gfx on top of it and customize it as you like.

  3. Yes, awesome that you found your way here to this subforum Gunnars Driver. Your experience would be of our interest I'm sure.

How many hours do you have in a HKP9? Where you active at 2007 when we had that terrible accident?

  4. Nine to twelve JAS 39 Gripen will fly this route:

    Motala (14:37)

    Jönköping (14:48)

    Borås (14:57)

    On December 8th.

  5. Just learned that this years x-mas tree formation performed by the F7 wing will have a new route so it will not pass cities nearby me... :(

So, perhaps there will be a virtual one with the best suitable plane for the job ever - the mighty Viggen (since it is more or less shaped like an xmas tree).

Please LNS, make it happen - either in a YT video by you, or a released module flown by this community :)

  6. It can be manually deployed in the air to. xD But during landing i suppose it could be used to proved emergency hydraulic power to the brakes maybe? I realise it wont do much good at low speeds. :P

Speaking of easy access etc. Keep in mind that the Viggen plattform was serviced by a conspript ground crew team with just a few months of training. A pretty unique setup as far as I know.

And they where really good at it with short turn arounds keeping the birds on the ground for a very short time.

  7. You need to hold the cocking buttons down until you get a light (takes a few seconds), not just click it.

I will second this. I was about to kick my PC through the wall in frustration before I realized I had to hold the button for quite long.

  8. Yeah, something like this would be nice :)

Which reminds me that there where some great community mods with Swedish units/vehicles in Operation Flashpoint. So there are a lot of 3D models out there...

  9. I made a post in the big Viggen thread a while ago regarding the KA POD, and as far as I know the usage is similar tot the U-22 POD, even though the latter has some added features (extra bandwith and the possibility to jam multiple threats).

Not sure how well this page translates with Google translate or similar, but it has some good information:

Perhaps I (or someone else) can help you later and do a proper translation.
