  1. When you place Bx8 does bx8 get displayed in the destination screen? Every time I try and place Bx8 over thr target, the display still reads M1 and the distance and bearing to M1 changes to shwo the distance and bearing to target. It seems that I am. It oacing bx8 but rather just fixing M1.
  2. Ah ok so I think from the above that when you lock a point, you are actuall locking a lock using contrast rather than a spot on the ground where the maverick should look for the target hence why the sight will not lock unless there a contrasting target to lock onto to. Also I can only assume that it can only lock when I'm firing range so if you can a lock, you can fire straight way - hence not launch indicator. Finally that in order to change targets, you need to cancel the lock, re-centre the sight and reacquire.
  3. If I were to create a mission with a ship and a Viggen with no waypoints set, how would I go about attacking the ship? Would I need to create a waypoint say B1 using the radar fix and then assign that waypoint as a target? Or do I just need to create a fix so the circle is over the ship and engage as normal? If doing this then do I need to use Nav mode. Also when making this fixing do I need to anything to unsure that I not simply placing huge error into the system so any waypoints entered manually won't also be way off?
  4. So I gave playing around with this for bit now and it is confusing me slightly. Has anyone found answers to the following questions: 1. Sometimes the sight will not lock when TV is pressed but other times it will. Why is this? 2. Once locked, how do you then adjust the lock point? Pressing T1 seems to do noting and T0 will recentre the whole sight. 3. When do you know you are in range for the RB-75s as there is no indication on the HUD? 4. Is there any way to get the sight to slew straight onto a target waypoint or to get the point on the ground where it looking to be shown on the HUD? Jacks
  5. Yes I would also like this as see the fps drop when I close the canopy!
  6. Same issue here. Also does anyone know how to disable the mirrors as they causing low FPS. I already have mirrors turned off in the options page so I don't know why they appear on the Viggen...........
  7. We need an option to remove the tree shadow. Come on ED......
  8. Discus, Loving the new images and can't wait to see it rendered in the New Year! How is the flight modelling coming along?
  9. I hope ED can convert this great module into a Seafire so we can operate it from carriers. I realise this won't be as simple as putting a hook on the spitfire but still the work would be considerably less than building a new module from scratch. Seafires were involved in the Normandy landings and later operations in southern France. Thoughts?
  10. BigNewey, thanks just checked and I am running the most up to date version.
  11. Thanks Bit. I have disabled the integrated sound card in BIOS. After this the sound is payed through the monitor (HDMI) but I am still getting terrible performance.
  12. So I haven't played DCS for about 4 months due the terrible performance when looking in random directions even with no other units on the map. Anyway in prep for the release of the viggen I thought I would have another go at trying to fix DCS despite wasting days, weeks and months previously. Last night I was testing on my benchmark mission (mi-8 parking start at senaki-Kolki) and despite my medium to high settings, FPS still dropped from 60 to 32 when I looked towards the town. However at one point, the game crashed and my headphones went dead and the sound was suddenly played though my monitor. After this happened, I restarted DCS and played the benchmark mission and the performance had doubled with me achieving a solid and stable 60 FPS (no more constantly flicking between 59&64 FPS). I flew around the town and low over the trees and the FPS remained clamped at 60FPS. This is the performance I am looking for but since then I have not managed to recreate the crash and so I am once again stuck with poor performance. After this event though i know my rig is capable of a solid 60FPS and so I am determined to find out how to permanently keep it in this high performance state. I am now exploring the possibility that sound is causing my performance issues. I have tried disabling sound and updating audio drivers but tonight nothing worked. Any ideas?
  13. I have a GTX 980 and struggle to run one screen at med to high settings. I wouldn't even consider 3 screens. Anyway I have given up using DCS until ED actually do some optimisation rather expecting its customers to throw miney at hardware just to get the sim to run well.
  14. Discuss, are you still planning on developing for FSX first then DCS?
  15. Does anyone else experience this stuttering below refresh rate or is it just me?
  16. I do use VSync normally but I cannot believe that with my rig I would have to run any game at medium settings for 2D 1080p!
  17. For me if the FPS goes above or below my monitor refresh rate I can notice it. The ground microstutters by and view panning is jerky and unpleasant. Is this normal? Do we all have to lower the settings to a ridiculous level to maintain a constant 60FPS in all situations to guarantee a smooth gaming experience?
  18. Has anyone using a GTX 980 found the settings that give a solid 60FPS everywhere on the and near towns? If so please post them here!
  19. I have the same issue even though I have 16 GB RAM. It has meant that I have played DCS for over two months as I cannot stand the stutters any more and I not willing to play with it shadows given my rig.
  20. I did all of those steps and no beeping. I have mandated to fire the missile at a target but at no point got any kind of tone.
  21. How do you get the mistral seeker tone to beep?
  22. I have huge issues in non-VR around airports and large towns. The FPS drops like a stone and everything is jerky. In fact this problem has meant I haven't played DCS in nearly 6 weeks........
  23. With your card, I would still expect much better performance with those settings given many people report better performance with similar cards. Did you have tree shadow on/off. Also for you setup reducing water to medium will give you extra FPS as the water in rendered under the land across the whole map.
  24. I have tried it with no mods and the same problem exists. With 16GB ram surely I should be able to run at max preload radius? Also since it seems to be nearby towns that effect FPS I don't think the preload will help burnt am willing to give it a try (again!). I have also noted that when I get these drops in FPS, the neither the gpu nor any of the cores are running above 70%. Surely with my rig and the settings in the picture above I should be running the game at a constant 60 FPS?
