  1. I can get the Anton in the air 99% of the time, but it's always a little messy. I've tried various trims and releasing the stick to neutral at 120-150 kph without much percieved difference. Using WOT, 1.4 ATA seems to work best, but I feel more at home using 1.2 ATA. The problems all begin after the srick is released to neutral and the tail lifts, then it seems very sensitive on the rudder. It swings one way I put in a little rudder, not much happens, I put in some more............Boom, massive swing the other way........then it's rinse and repeat until it unsticks usually with the left wing down. Holding it down until around 200 kph results in tyre squeals and bounces. Is there a secret I'm missing, it's easier to take off than say the Spit or Kurfurst but after some practice I can get both of these modules to take off without any drama. Not so the Anton, it takes to the air but it's very rarely pretty or straight
  2. It sounds like you haven't went into Axis commands, at the top of the Controls settings are 2 rectangular boxes, one will have the Module name "TF-51 Real" next to that is a box which will probably be saying "All" Click on that box and select the option "Axis Commands" You need to have that option selected prior to setting your Axes. In DCS the Axis commands can only be selected when in that category, "All" only lists buttons/keystrokes options, so just On/Off inputs. To set analogue or axis commands you require to be in the "Axis Commands" category. Once in there you'll find an option for "Engine RPM Setting" select "Add" from the bottom buttons that brings up another small box, traverse the LHS throttle from end to end and it will get selected. The reason you can't select the "RPM Increase" and "RPM Decrease" is DCS is expecting a button and you are sending an axis as you're not in the "Axis Commands" category. You need to use the "Axis Commands" to select all your axes, so you use that category for Pitch, Roll, Throttle, Engine RPM Setting, Rudder and Left and Right Wheel Brakes and perhaps some other stuff Oh and I'm older than you!!!! Once it starts to click into place you will hhave a lotta fun, but at first I hear you it can be frustrating
  3. That's the way it's meant to work, when Safe, button #25 will be active (on) and #28 inactive (off) Conversely when Armed, #28 will be active (on) and button #25 inactive (off) If you want to assign them so they pulse the button/keyboard press just tick the box in your picture labelled Pulse, then when you switch states the relevant button will only be enabled momentarily. The relevant button will be pulsed as you move to the new state. Example suppose you have the Pro Trigger Armed (down) and move to Safe (up), button #25 will pulse, when you then move from Safe (up) to Armed (down), button #28 will pulse
  4. Sorry not much help I don't have the C101, but I just posted to say that there is a known problem with all the warbirds and Easy Comms has to be enabled to get the radios to work with Vaicom, so your problem with the D9 is probably linked to that I have no clue if the problem is on Holywood's or Ed's side, but it would be nice to see it fixed
  5. I can only comment on the Hawg throttle which I liberally applied Nyogel too I found the friction wheel action is not as effective as prior to application, BUT the throttle levers are now Buttery smooth. IMHO there's more than sufficent friction for my needs, although, that is a subjective opinion & I'm really glad I did it. Sorry to hear though about your bad experience with Nyogel
  6. Something similar although a little different on the same topic https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/263825-vaicom-pro-no-longer-seeing-my-joystick/?tab=comments#comment-4585134 I don't use STEAM so can't help. Has the location for DCS files changed? I'd start there if it has then I'd point Vaicom to the new location using the option on the Config tab If that doesn't work then I'd start using the RESET tab, starting with the lua code THESE are just wild guesses though, there must be some on here who use STEAM and can help furhter
  7. No @hornblower793 is spot on, it leaves the mic hot for all commands in the linked/daisy chained/appended profile but not the Vaicom commands So if Rel Hot is clicked, the orange light on the Vaicom Panel turns orange and you can issue commands that are in your linked/daisy chained/appended profile without having to press any Buttons on the HOTAS. The mic is live all the time to the linked/daisy chained/appended BUT NOT Vaicom To issue Vaicom commands you still need to use the appropriate PTT see page 33 of the manual
  8. That shows the module name in the Voice Attack command window Go to Other\Advanced\ the command second from the bottom "Write a value to the event log" Whenever you operate the PTT with that command added to a PTT you'll see the module name
  9. Yeah forgot about the A4 being free and developed by the community it's a fun module too and let's you try some carrier landings and take offs Something else that happens but not very often is ED actually let you try all the modules for a limited period, but don't expect it anytime soon. I'd also hang out and wait for the Sales which take place there are really significant discounts to be had and the older modules are a lot less expensive and the latest and greatest. That doesn't make them any less fun Great advice by @Paganus Buying the aircraft you like, that is definately the way to go when the time comes
  10. First Welcome You're going to get a lot of opinions on what to purchase and the way forward First there are 2 aircraft available, the SU-25 Russian ground attack aircraft and the TF-51, which is identical to the P-51 but without the weapons, WWII warbird. There are 2 disitinct types of modules, the FC3 aircraft, which do not have clickable cockpits and have less involved flight models, if you purchase FC3 you get a selection of aircraft in one package. The SU-25 is an example of the FC3 type of module The TF-51 has a clickable cockpit and more accurate flight modelling and is an example of the costlier modules. As far a peripherals, it depends, the warbirds WWII aircraft, need quite a lot of rudder input, so you probably need something to use as a rudder. You could initially try binding the rudder controls to buttons on your exisitng stick, but to get the best out of them you'll need something with an axis. Many use a twist stick and get along with that. The jets (non FC3) are pretty complex models, expensive and require a lot of investment in time more than the many dollars they cost. The only advice I'd give is to get proficient in both the free modules and spend time in them, you'll then find out what type to enjoy more. When I started even, landing, taking off and using some of the weapons on the SU-25 took me quite a while. There are also tutorials to try and I'd go through them as well Spend time in the free stuff and then you'll get a flavour of what suits you at the same time it will give some insight to whether you need to purchase better or additional hardware or not. Apologies if it's a bit generic, but for a game it's complex, not something you can jump into and get the hang of quickly, a lot of it will be a bit of an exercise in frustration, but really satisfying when it all starts to click
  11. I have mine configured, a little differently as I use VA to call all my kneeboard pages, so I have the AutoBrowse disabled and page using a loop function in Voice Attack You don't need the "Execute a plug in function" to open close (or page forward/back etc:) with the kneeboard. Simply use the keystroke commands contained within the DCS Controls pages, normally it's R_SHIFT+K (Mig-21 is something else but just change the keystroke to the same as all the others) to open the kneeboard add that to your Vaicom profile and have it activated via "When I Say" and call it Open Kneeboard or just Kneeboard of whatever you like. With the Interactive Kneeboard activated the DCS kneeboard defaults to the Interactive kneeboard page for all the modules I have and all the maps (and I have most of them) So unless you page away from the Interactive Kneeboard to somewhere else whenever you open the kneeboard it will show that page As far as the tabs go the manual talks about activating via HOTAS but instead just voice activate them instead I've attached a small file giving the commands if it helps, just copy them from the profile into your Vaicom profile and rename the commands to whatever works for you Here's a demo (made for another member) showing the way I've got it setup, (it goes on too long as it was mafde to demo other stuff). Far from perfect but suits me. Interactive Kneeboard-Profile.zip
  12. For the Trigger https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/262337-do-you-use-vkb-mcg-pro-flip-trigger/?tab=comments#comment-4572593 For the Brake if I'm using toe brakes which I do for some aircraft, I use the buttons on the brake lever to either disable NSW steering or enable HiGain steering I find these features in the VKB Config extremely useful making the stick a lot more versatile than it would be without them VKB get a big from me
  13. Not sure of your problem and don't understand the OOB bit. I'm using VSPX and like MAXsenna added the commands detailed in page 46 However you state that you can't get the kneeboard to show up, so I'm at a bit of a loss there as it shows as just another page on the standard DCS kneeboard. Have you actually purchased it yet or are you just enquiring pre purchase to make sure it will work for your setup? By adding the "Execute an external plug in" commands for the tabs and then using a command to open/close and page the kneeboard within the module (as you would normally to look at a kneeboard page) it should work. You can also leave the AutoBrowse function checked in the Vaicom window under the Ex Tab and it will page to the relevant position when it has info to display, so then all you need to do is open the Kneeboard.
  14. It is very much appreciated Thank you and also good of you to post offering further tips, I need to do some digging The spurious effects on the Axis commands may have been nothing to do with the joystick text being added and just a coincidence (in fact I found it well strange that it happened). I never bothered invstigating further as I activate the flashlight using Voice Attack so the keyboard command is fine for me Cheers
  15. I added this mod it was a bit quick & dirty, I just added the one line near the top for the warbirds I have. It just adds the line to the Keyboard default.lua so can't be assigned to a button (when I added the Joystick lines to the default.lua it did wierd things to the Spitfire axis controls, I have no idea if that was just coincidence or not, but to be on the safe side I didn't bother with it) Many thanks to both @Wrench for pointing us to it and @Holton181 for the mod in the first place, really apprreciate it. The file adds a flashlight to the Spitfire, Dora, Anton, Kurfurst and Mustang. The P-47 already has a flashlight and I don't have the I-16 Just dump the file inside your Mods folder in OVGME then enable it and it should work. You will need to assign a keyboard sequence (I use L_ALT L) of your choice. The idea of this is that you can just disable during updates then enable when the update is complete Hope it helps, any problems with it let me know it works for me Flashlight Warbirds.zip
  16. No it's worth a try thanks, not holding out much hope though as until the Sun comes up the trim wheels just don't seem to get any light whatsoever Are you referring to the in cockpit lighting? Got it turned up to max, Can these lights be turned around? I was under the impression they were fixed forward
  17. Often when on a Multiplayer server it can be early morning or late evening (stunning clours) The Spit has lighting but the rudder trim wheel is in the shadow and never comes out of it until the Sun rises higher. The sides of the cockpit are like a coalhole, totally black. Even when on the runway and the big spots come on the rudder trim wheel remains in darkness If we had a flashlight for all the warbirds like the P-47 the problem would be solved. I've often wondered why the flashlight for the Warbirds was omitted, it's hardly because of the period. As far as I'm aware although a very limited activity, all the Warbirds did fly at night and often very early morning and late evening. I just think it's a bit of shame and surely would be difficult to implement given the number of other modules that have it
  18. You need to move the "Execute external plugin command" at the top, to be between the "Begin Text Compare" and "End" command, as stated earler by Hollywod At the moment there is nothing executed inside your IF statement You'll then need to make an identical command for every module, with the module you want selected in your "Begin Text Compare" command
  19. I'm actually using an axis, but still had ocassions when the tail lifts, perhaps I'm just ham fisted. My point was you can nose it over during taxi, which IMHO seems a little excessive, but maybe that's how sensitive it really is Thanks for the video @grafspee I've seen it before but thanks anyway for going to the trouble. In that incident it looks like either the trim was wrong, the stick was forward or the pilot hit an unven piece of ground or pothole. I did something vaguely similar with a motorcycle when I hit a pothole a while back, much to my embarresment. The aircraft appears to get the tail up quite suddenly and (although it could be the angle) very slow Just curiosity really, I'm going to leave it at 60% for now, I haven't conducted distance tests yet I'm sure that they'll be impacted. Its just a lot more controlable and the reduced virtual/in game axis to physical axis results in finer control with the lever Thank you all for going to the trouble to explain
  20. I've no idea but it feels that way to me I've reduced the brake lever to 60% and can still do everything that's required without the hand stands Just wondered what others thought
  21. @sthompson nice descritption of the capabilites. It's not rocket science though to write a VA command for each of the individual tabs, you page to wherever the Interactive Kneeboard page is using the standard page up/down commands then add in the "Execute an External Plug in" command in VA to get the relevant tab. Hollywood details it in the manual, pg 46. You can activate these commands using hardware or voice activation. @Bailey has a whole raft of very capable VA profiles and the last I looked has options for paging in the DCS kneeboard with them. These could easily be appended to include the Interactive Kneboard. I don't know how you currently have the DCS kneeboard setup or if you use voice commands to go directly to certain pages, but if you use a standard profile then it can be pretty easily automated to page directly to a requested page via a voice command. The interactive kneeboard tabs can then also be added as commands that take you directly to the desired tab. I use a standard profile for my kneeboard, in the Cauacasus for example I request an airfield's data sheets and VA will page the kneeboard to these sheets (well most of the time). I added the Interactive kneeboard tabs to do something similar. To stop going Off Topic and thread drift, drop me a PM if you want to go into this sort of thing further and I'll try to help, I'm no programmer but spent a little time with Voice Attack
  22. Free recording/streaming software, biased towards streaming but works well for recording too. https://obsproject.com/ IMHO way better than ShadowPlay, although it can get complex real fast, but it can also just be used like ShadowPlay as well and just record video and audio Can't help with the virtual audio cable
  23. That's as I see it @PL_Harpoon exactly If you raise boost via the Turbo then throttle, i.e.opening the turbo before the throttle is maxed out, I think you'll need more manifold pressure for a given value of power, due to the inefficiencies that method introduces. Using the turbo when it's not strictly necessary at lower altitude will reduce the max power that's potentially available. I think the idea of the linking mechanism was to make engine management easier when pilot workload was high, a dogfight is a good example. Eventually in the late models as Gregg inidcates, Republic automated the system to prevent the power loss, they wouldn't have bothered to do this if it hadn't been a potential weak point in the design. You could always try Greg's experiment to see how well it's modelled and what the losses are, I've been meaning to try it but not got around to it
  24. Agree with everything @grafspee states, the load the supercharger imposes isn't constant it will depend on its speed (a linear function of engine RPM) and the back pressure, how much that will vary.....................no idea, I'd need to look at curves. If the engine isn't at it manifold pressure limit from the throttle alone, then adding any boost via the turbo will be doing a few things I think. Caveat I have not looked into this in any real detail, but here's how I see it The throttle will be doing what throttles do. Throttling is inefficient thermodynamically so it should be minimized, you don't want to throttle then raise boost via a second system. Exhaust backpressure will be higher, the amount and how much it impinges on performance I don't know, but in general it should be minimized Finally as stated already, compressing twice to obtain the same manifold pressure will result in higher charge temperatures. This is undesirable as the charge will then be compressed again in the cylinder. Taking the ideal case for the compression process, work required for compression increases with temperature, so I think the supercharger will absorb additional power as will the compression process inside the cylinders of the engine itself. I don't have the motovation to go into this in the minutae and will probably get handed my "ass on a plate" by somebody who does or has sufficient interest, but that's how I see the system working. My limited experience with engines is telling me to open the throttle to max, when I cannot get the boost I want from it, then start to open the turbo. That's of course ideal there may be occassions when other limitiations make that impossible or impractical, I haven't had any real time in the module or studied the Jug to know
