  1. I just had this happen twice in a row, on final online. Tried testing it off line and nothing went wrong. Is this multiplayer only ?

  3. I'm not sure of anything at this point. The same SSD has Escape from Tarkov on it, and it won't start either but I am able to repair EFT. I can't repair DCS maybe because it is over 240 gig. ireaslly don't want to delete it and reinstall as that will take days at the speed it downloads. Is there a way to repair DCS in smaller chunks?
  4. I think found the problem. It seems the SSD DCS is installed on is broken and it's just a coincidence that 2.7 came out. dam. This is a 240 gig download ! and the down loader won't even let us throttle it or pause it ... SMH

ÙÕù ¡c× (right here) ------^ I notice that the address in documents is C:\Users\JC\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha instead of openbeta but this has been mislabelled like that for a long time. I also noticed that the variant doc file in the installation folder had openalpha as variant so I changed that to open beta. I suspect all of this is beside the point anyway... I don't know where json text is ? Also last week I was having trouble with certain maps so tried running full slow repair and it would hang my PC about two third of way through. So I deleted the maps and redownloaded and it worked fine till 2.7. Anyone know where json file is?
  6. Really enjoying playing with the newly fine tuned FM for DCS MiG-21. I found this great resource about the MiG-21 in USAF Aggressor Squadron. It's a really good read for DCS MiG-21 fans and fanatics. The new FM seems to be closer to the test pilots descriptions than it was before. They state: "Even the mighty F-15 Eagle had no solution in dogfight below 150-250 knots against MiG-21 in US Aggressor hands...This way Mig-21 will remain behind every opponent still having sufficient control ability for gun tracking using rudder rolls...It is obvious that US aggressor pilots pulled full aft stick in turn regardless of the lateral oscillations, roll off and temporary loss of control. " I found this hard to believe at first. So I did a bit of testing and with the current FM we can hold back on the stick below 250km/h and use rudder rolls with pretty good control. I tested against F5 tiger... Merge, zoomed climb and at the top, at very slow speed was able to out turn him quite well. Almost like a pedal turn... But the article says the MiG-21 F they had was able to out turn an F-15 like this! It says the Bis model should have good slow speed characteristics too, while not as quite nice as the lighter F . So I tested against an AI F-15 with ace skill. guns only. This is a whole new way to fly the MiG-21 for me. You can see that the F-15 really had me on the defensive and I was able to turn the situation around very quickly using this slow speed high alpha tactics described by USAF Aggressors.
  7. Incase anybody doesn't know about this. We have detailed description from the USAF aggressor pilots use of the MiG-21 at slow speed and high AOA, full aft stick and rudder rolls. That's where I got the idea to try this counter intuitive tactics.   8. I just tried the FM and IMO think it's the best it's ever been. Bravo. Still very challenging to fly if you go over AOA limits it drops a wing without warning but once you are down to very slow speed you can control nicely at high AOA. This is really fun to fly like this. You can see I drop a wing at 1.02 sec and then held the stick back and just used rudder to roll till until I got gun on Tiger. I love it.
  9. I took off on multiplayer server as RED F16 thinking at last I deal with the Blue Patriots and Hawks... Ten minutes later I land where I took off with HARMs still under my wings. Can't target Blue missiles :(
  10. I've never had issues with FPS in the MIg 21 until the last update. Strangely enough my FPS chugs with very high AOA. Weirdest thing. I was testing the stall behaviour and noticed the FPS would half as I stalled the plane.... WTH ?! Maybe i was looking down ward and the radar screen was coming into view? I'll have to test again
  11. Some of the most satisfying moments in the Fishbed were nailing an aero break after a successful PvP online sorte. I've been using the SPS ... I approach just below 300km/h and without too much concern for perfect speed and decent rate but then just before touchdown I give it a little burst of the throttle just enough for the blown flaps to cancel out the descent rate to almost nothing just as the main wheels touch down. For me the timing of this burst of blown flaps powered lift is what makes it work. The front wheel will usually still try to come down but this movement is gentle enough for a little back stick to counter if i get that burst of power right. Very satisfying indeed.
  12. Just found this great work! Hopefully your sounds get integrated into the module and credited to you at some stage. I've been asking in this forum for months, maybe years, for some audio feedback for AOA, buffeting, airframe creaking, cockpit shake, audible vortex or turbulent flow over wings. Riding the AOA limit is so important in this module and we don't have the other feedback a real pilot would have from all his senses. I wonder if some seasoned Mig 21 pilots could smell the AOA limits approaching? lol As you some of the other modules have great audio feedback for AOA. There is no doubt when you are pushing the AOA limit. Thanks you for your efforts.
  13. I'm using an old FFB stick and a couple of years ago I was pretty good at riding the edge in the mig 21 but not any more. Some of that is stick time. I had a lot more back then. Maybe i'm just rusty but it seems to have changed also. I really can't imagine how anyone flies it without a FFb stick. Must be hard. I switched the ARU to manual and turned the sensitivity all the way up and that made a big difference. Thanks for that suggestion
  14. I'm struggling with the mig21 too. The pitch limited at hi speed is hurting but I wish we had some sound feedback as it approaches AOA stall. It's impossible to watch the AOA indicator while riding the edge and looking up at the enemy aircraft. Some buffeting noise would REALLY help me fly this plane better. I can see vaper/ turbulent flow if I look over my shoulder at high alpha. Would that be audible in real life? I have also noticed that if I do go over AOA and into stall it's now quite controllable with the stick all the way back and using rudder to roll. Right down to 200kp/h. I've had a few fights where I was able to force an overshoot by going into something like a deep stall and rolling with rudder. After the violent wing drop just pull the stick all the way back and it's is surprisingly controllable. I had a 7 minute fight with a F-14 on cold war ... he would out turn me and I would force an over shoot with this maneuver.. over and over ... It seems the FM has evolved a lot over the years.

  16. Yes same thing here. Growling Sidewinder used to be so smooth and fast on my average PC. I5 4GHz, 16 gig ram, gtx 1070 8gig Vram and 500Gig SSHD But now with this new mission it runs like crap. lag spike after lag spike and I look at the number of ground units and I'm not surprised ! There is two huge fronts with with ships and sam everywhere. How can we give them feedback ? they might have super computers to play on and don't know why we all leaving? because too many units for us.
  17. Mig21bis in DCS has been easily my favorite DCS module. I've flown in online for thousands of hours and quite competitively on the cold war servers. I use a FFB stick so the feeling of holding the nose just above stall requires roughly the same amount of stick pressure even as the speed and stick angles both change dynamically. So it is quite easy to hold the Mig 21 on the edge without looking at the AOA indicator if you have a FFB stick. Of course most DCS flyers don't use FFB and it is no surprise to me that many complain that they can't fly the Mig21 in a dog fight. Ofcourse they can't. They can't tell if the plane is about to stall with no ffb. They have to take their eyes off the enemy and look at the AOA indicator... There are two flashing red lights that warn of AOA limit on the canopy but they are too low to see while looking up at an enemy plane you are turning into. I could speculate that the devs have caved into pressure from these people and made the mig now impossible to stall from over Alpha. I just tested it and there is no FFB ( which makes me wonder if the Devs are flying without FFB) and I can just hold the stick back to the stop at all speeds without any chance of departure. It is now like Fly By Wire and the best thing about this module is lost. Maybe some more visible cockpit shaking might help the non FFB guys know that they are about to go over AOA limits. Or even better, some sound effects of the air frame straining would also be a good help for knowing the AOA limits are approaching. The Viggen airframe for example makes a lot of noise as you approach AOA limits. Please consider sounds and visual ques to show AOA limits instead of removing them completely. Many of us love this aspect of flying the mig21 I for one hope the AOA limits are restored to more challenging and realistic levels and the FFB fixed. Mig21 has such great FFB in DCS it was the only module I could feel the transition from supersonic to subsonic in FFB stick pressure alone.
  18. It's terrible. It's like it's been dumbed down so it requires no skill to fly anymore. Also the FFB is gone. It was my favorite DCS plane precisely because it was so challenging and rewarding to fly well. I can't fly it like this.

  20. Me too, no FFB at all. Mig21 had the best feedback in DCS IMO :(
  21. ED handles all the missiles performance. 3rd party devs don't set performance of their jets weapons. I was under the impression that all BVR missiles have much shorter range in the sim than in real life. I'm fine with that. It would not be fun multiplayer to just fire at 40 nm and turn to go home and land. To be honest this is why I am not much interested in 4th gen .. because the older 3rd gen actually got close enough to see each other and shoot.
  22. [MISSING TRACK FILE] Attack Radar keeps scanning left side of the screen I have this problem with my radar only scanning the left side of the screen. I also see that I can't change the antenna elevation. If I move the cursor to the right side of the screen and press lock it will move to the right and attempt tot lock but then unlocking it just goes back to the left side scanning. I've tried all the typical things... it's not in ACM modes, or the scanning angles... Whats worse is I remember having the same problem many months ago and found the solution and I remember it is simple to fix but I can't remember what I did. Any one know what I'm talking about? Maybe ill have to make a youtube video to show what it happening . I will if no body know s what I am talking about. Thanks for any help offered.
  23. When I try to fly the Mig 19 online I am stuck with the "default" skin which is a garish red prototype skin instead of the beautiful bare metal skin that is named "default". Lots of servers lock the skin to default to avoid loading of peoples skins... The red skin is not as annoying as the ugly tiger meet skin the Mirage 2000 was stuck with for so long but it is ugly and unrealistic and I want to use the fantastic bare metal skin that is so much more realistic. Please change the default back the bare metal skin.
