  1. Same, they should be about equal before the merge. Really in that era, the 80s, it was all about pointing and shooting after the merge. The 29 will dominate that. But an MLA could get lucky. IRL there were more 23s than 29s especially early on. So that’s a factor too. I like military aircraft. The 23 should stack up well against the F-4, and F-5. Against the Cat it’s going to be tough. But tough can be fun.
  2. I’m going for both. The 23 covers a ten year gap before the 29. And would still have been the backbone in the 80s. If missions or campaigns are designed properly the 21, 23, 29 will all work together. I love the Soviet stuff, and this jet is classic Soviet.
  3. Without dropping tech data doses anyone have any information on the radar performance on this jet. What are the detection ranges, azimuth limits, look down capabilities like. I asked the same question about the 29 and got a great answer. I’m really looking forward to this bird. It’ll be the backbone of any seventies mission, and still be a major player in the 80’s. My understanding is with this MiG you really want to with the BVR fight. I’m curious how much of a tool the radar will be to that end.
  4. I can’t say it’s the most exciting thing to me. I think the A-7E gets that prize. But I’m certainly with you in being excited about it. We are about to have the whole MiG lineup in DCS. That’s going to be awesome. I can’t wait to see the late Cold War go hot.
  5. Thanks. I’m not really doing anything with the FC3 version. I might dust it off to practice flying it but that’s about it. High and fast vs a Tomcat seems to be suicidal. So basically it’s live to the merge point and shoot.
  6. I’m interested to see what the radar module on this bird looks like. Without dropping tech data dose anyone have detection ranges on things like say an F-14? How dose it do looking into the ground? What are to azmith limits? Basically if GCI puts me nose to nose against anything with a F model sparrow how even will the fight be? I know we have FC3 to look at, but I suspect the FF radar to be more detailed.
  7. Try getting good? Sorry I had to. BVR it will suck compared to the AMRAAM slinging crowd. It isn’t FWB, and if you’re not used to that then that could be biting you too. In a dogfight it should be a match for anything, and an overmatch for most things. But you have to manage the energy. I’m not sure of every tactic, but there should be a fight you can fight and win against any other jet once merged.
  8. I would suspect so. GCI for situational awareness was the Soviet way after all. That would be a cool system to have in the game. It would really bring home the “full fidelity” feeling.
  9. Ours is from 1987 same as the B model Tomcat. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. The RDI could definitely have see action, granted in limited numbers. As far as FM ours M2000 is nowhere even close to an F-22. I suspect in the right hands this MiG would beat it. off topic but I don’t see the hate for the M2000C. It’s like a F-16A. A lightweight FWB fighter. It was, and would be expected to be a monster in a dogfight. But as for UFO do some low speed climbs with a clean jet. Both the Viper and the true UFO F-18 crush it.
  10. That’s the odd thing about this module. It’s kinda already out in an alpha state. We can already play with it and get used to it. it’s certainly a pilots aircraft. It isn’t fly by wire, and will bite you in a hurry. I think the Tomcat crowd will love it. After full fidelity I just can’t do the FC3 jets anymore. Having my second favorite jet from LOMAC in full fidelity is going to be sweet.
  11. Speak for yourself. I spent years loving this bird in LOMAC and flaming cliffs. But once I got used to full fidelity i just couldn’t go back. Being able to actually interact with the jet is going to be awesome. If it has more realistic capabilities if FF then LOMAC then so be it. I for one am beyond stoked to get to know this bird all over again. Plus it’s such a cool jet. One of the last pure dog fighters. It’s going to be able to go toe to toe with the M2000C but with no FBW. Maybe they will figure out roadside bases for us to fly from.
  12. I’ve had the pilots killed, the copilot killled, the gunners killed, engine fires, and hydro losses in the Huey. Its damage model is simple. But it isn’t that simple.
  13. The C-101EB basically has a check ride simulated in one of its training missions. As stated above it shows that training and evaluation is possible.
  14. Please, I use the mobile TACAN all the time. A mobile RSBN would be great. According to Wings of The Red Star this thing was supposed to provide air superiority over a battlefield. I can see that if backed up by good GCI. Having mobile RSBN to fly too would be sweet.
  15. I think you are underestimating how much work systems modeling will be. I like you suspect they will reuse what they can, but as was stated above aside from FM and the fact that the weapons are all there they are rebuilding it from the ground up. Also don’t count Razbam out. They basically shelved the Flogger to get the Strike Eagle out. Now they are progressing on the Flogger. They are a proven team that can get a module out the door. The Flogger is a much simpler jet then the Strike Eagle and has been getting worked on for years. I’m slightly optimistic that we might have it late this year. I too will buy both, but I do hope to see the Flogger first. I hope both modules do well. As that means more money for more core improvements, assets, maps, and modules.
  16. No problem. This is going to be a huge money maker for them, and I hope they pull out all the stops on it. People like to talk about balancing DCS well Mig-29A, 23MLA, 21Bis, MI-24, Maybe an SU-17 Red. F-14A, F-4E, A-7E, A-6E USA M2000, F1, F-5E, maybe a Kafir NATO. that’s a pretty balanced mid 80’s lineup with all the missions covered, especially if the SU-17 happens. It will be up to administrators on how they let the apex predators be used in their servers. With the dynamic campaign coming single player will get a lot more interesting as well. I feel like a good chunk of players are going to gravitate to the MiG-29. It feels good to fly, that helmet mounted site is gonna be awesome when Archers are allowed. It’s got good enough weapons to fight BVR. And if you survive to the merge you are an apex predator. I think most players will buy this. The old heads like myself already love it from the LOMAC days. The younger players want something they can turn and burn with anything in game with. And in its proper environment, mid to late 80s, it’s an absolute monster.
  17. WOW dude, you went really hostile to be wrong. PFM is already there, why reinvent the wheel with such a labor intensive component. Also I suspect this has been in development for a bit of time already. I don’t know about 2024 but I bet we see it sooner than you would think. Its systems are not all that complicated compared to the western jests they have already produced. Also I suspect this one will be pretty feature complete on release. I’m just glad to see the late Cold War finally get some love. Fishbed, Flogger, and Fulcrum would have all been in the air in an 80’s gone hot scenario. And we’re gonna have them, with Tomcats, Phantoms, F1, SLUFs, eventually intruders, to fight. All in the next few years that’s gonna be pretty sweet.
  18. We will see. The FM is in a good place I think. But systems modeling takes time. They aren’t stupid they will reuse what they can but it’s a long way from FC3 to full fidelity. If it wasn’t we wouldn’t care. I’m interested to see if this comes before the Flogger. I hope not. I think that might really hurt Razbam. I’ll be buying both on day one of pre order. But I’m an aviation nerd that loves Soviet aircraft.

+1 for making it a custom object. I want to plop them down where I want them for the mission I’m making.
  20. I suspect once the MiG-23MLA, and the MiG-29A are out that this will change. Also once the Phantom is out doing escorts for Phantoms will be a thing. That will be especially true once the A-7E is out. Basically what I’m saying is the hay day of the Phantom for PVP hasn’t arrived yet. But it’s coming.
  21. Personally I think a player controlled AWACS station, or GCI station would be a pretty cool module in itself. Hopefully the built in AWACS gets some love with the dynamic campaign. Having a functional GCI system would be a nice feature.
  22. It’s also where a massive chunk of DCS is about to be. This will give the Cold War Tomcat something to worry about. The M2000 will finally have an opponent. And it’s going to feed on the Phantoms, F1s, A-7s, A-6s, and whatever else we get. The late Cold War Red Air is looking awesome MiG-29, 23, 21, Mi-24, maybe an Su-17. I for one will be buying every one of those modules. My understanding is Enigma’s Cold War server stays pretty busy. If so it’s going to get even busier in the next few years.
  23. With the announcement of the MiG-2A, I feel the need to reiterate my desire for a Cold War C model Eagle. It’s the perfect companion aircraft, and so much is already done. It looks like there is going to be a huge plane set for the late Cold War “soon,” in DCS terms anyway. The F-15C would fit right into it. It literally could have or did fight everything from the Fulcrum to the Tomcat. It’s a gold mine of a module just sitting there half completed as is. Think about it you could sell a 1980s C model then hit us with a small paid upgrade to a mid 2000s C with all the goodies. Just think about it.
