  1. Tippis thank you for the high IQ posts and responses - we need to get this fixed. I frequent these threads about resolution vs scaling every time they are made and it's always the usual suspects attempting to 'shut it down'. Until this is fixed I cannot really compete in any meaningful way in WVR combat (without sensors to compensate) as I am on a 4K 28" monitor. 4K is not something I will be going back from since I have been flying in 4K with DCS since at least 2014 or so and my eyes would never forgive me for willingly giving up on the most beautiful simulator experience you can achieve. Not to mention that (VR users aside perhaps - no experience of DCS VR myself) DCS has excellent performance at high resolutions - even with sensors exported to another 1080p monitor. The old scaling experiments that ED released, while comical is some cases, were vastly superior to the current scaling (or lack thereof) issues experienced but high resolution users.
  2. I'm very disappointed with the F-16 announcement, what with the current state of the F/A-18. I won't be purchasing the F16 until I see the state of systems modelling. BMS has a far more interesting simulation environment anyway so I'm probably going to stick to that until DCS has something more interesting to do than learn incomplete systems.
  3. 4K is widely used in DCS but unfortunately seems ignored. I don't use scaling after I had similar issues. Spotting in 4k is especially broken. After all of ED's experiments with spotting it seems that they gave up - it means that WVR combat is borderline impossible. Sorry for hijack lol.
  4. I made a script to target map objects. I'll see if I can dig it out tommorow...
  5. Yes they did this in Desert Storm.
  6. How on earth do you not understand the desired functionality here? I understand the need for proper bug reporting but this is just silly! There is a button that is supposed to have a function. Instead the button does nothing. 100% of the time. SOROS 1-1 reporting for duty!
  7. The Dunning-Kruger is strong in this guy ayy! Please do some basic research before pretending to be an expert. This pretty much goes for any subject. The hashed cross in CCIP works as a designator for an AUTO release.
  8. Thank you for your continued high effort in posting and reports on the subject. They got me there! SOROS 1-1 reporting for duty!
  9. If this works I will take back everything mean I ever said. :) Love u
  10. Basically every vote in DCS - A- I want new stuff B- I HATE having new stuff Of course everyone votes for A so what is the point!?
  11. Sorry to invade a thread but I also have a quick question about the kneeboard. Mine is mostly off screen due (I think) to my multimonitor setup. Is there a way to change the kneeboards on-screen position? Maybe something to do with monitor.lua?
  12. I had no performance problems but now I have an eye problem with having to look at these uggo trees!
  13. Surely this is only true if the manoeuvre leading to the dive had enough angle rate change to compute a solution before entering the head on state. Also - he is talking about guns not bombs. Edit - Why do you think it is easier to calculate a release solution? All you would know is that the target is 'somewhere' on a line directly in front of you with no ranging information at all. It's the whole point in having an angle tracking camera in the first place.
  14. Yes unfortunately proper DMT/ARBS is not yet simulated it seems. I say 'yet' in the vein hope that one day it will be. In your first example I would imagine that if the DMT track doesn't move enough or is 'flown at' since the beginning of the contrast lock, the target location icon will be on the HUD but slant range will be not be calculated. The ARBS ties the DMT track angle with the INS so target angle is fine but slant range - I don't think so. Baro and GPS elevation bombing can be accurate as long as the target elevation is accurate.
  15. Not to get too far off topic but radar in the manual refers to the AV8B+'s radar. Radar altimeter can also be used for AGL altitude readings but for bombing it is not ideal because the terrain leading to the target needs to be 100% flat for an accurate drop. Same reason that in the Viggen, most of the time you use barometric pressure of the target area instead of rad alt so that you can operate in any terrain. Obviously the best thing to use would be the DMT to get slant range/ AGL of target area, otherwise you are referring to maps, ground forces(JTAC) or preplanned targets to get your target area AGL.
  16. +1 again. Now that they have a new guy dedicated to the harrier we might start seeing some progress. I really WANT this to be my favourite module but right now they are too many items blocking it. Target Elevation entry is also highly necessary to be able to do INS bombing. From reading the real manual it seems that the steerpoint elevation is not carried over into the target waypoint when 'waypoint designate' is pushed. This means that for any night bombing, where the DMT cannot be used and INS bombing mode is used (requiring either barometric or GPS altitude to get aircraft altitude), requiring manual target elevation entry. The ASL bug however is pretty much module breaking at this point and I'm not sure I could recommend this aircraft in good conscience to any squadron mates that don't have it by now.
  17. I second this motion good sir.
  18. Whilst I'd love to have a British variant, the N/A is perfectly capable of almost all of the plus's ground attack abilities. The only real difference is the swapping of a DMT for a radar, harms and harpoons as you mentioned. The N/A is just a bit less capable of SEAD, Anti-Ship and BVR A2A. Not too bad...
  19. I’m sure that Gazelle pilot identifies as a woman. It is <insert current year here> after all. SOROS 1-1 reporting for duty!
  20. I don’t see how 2% female fighter pilots (at least in the west- UK in particular) would be an “extreme” estimate. SOROS 1-1 reporting for duty!
  21. No sweetie. That distinction was made fairly recently and does not reflect the understanding or usage of the word in the english language or even in common parlance. I don't actually have a problem with having female pilot voices as I know of a female fighter pilot IRL and they are not common but becoming more so. But - this does not mean I endorse offence merchants (echo echo echo) taking a virtue signalling high ground that this should in any way take priority and definitely should not be a 50% chance of getting a female in your flight (more like 2% chance). I would also be weary of adding realistic representation into DCS - we could end up with african child soldiers with 65 IQ and a skill level locked at poor. Whenever these conversations come up - it's the people on the left that have the advantage in that moderators will consider anything with any kind of truth to be 'unkind', 'hatespeech' and 'hatefacts' meaning that no true replies can be made. We all just have to go along with this agenda that is being put onto us. I prefer to confront these things head on - don't let them police your language to box you into a corner. If you get backed into that corner you have already granted them victory by agreeing to their terms and abuse of language.
  22. This is your brain on communism.
  23. Still does not work - fall line is all over the place. The fall line should go through the target - please refer to any other US aircraft in DCS for inspiration. A10, F/A-18C etc. "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." cough
