  1. The key here is "advanced comms", which likely works fine. Try with "easy comms".
  2. Firstly, you may want to try the game out in sim mode.. It only gets better that way, and it's not that much more complicated than game mode. That way others might be able to help you out, as most of us see "game mode" as a form of sacriledge. Secondly, try checking out the Wiki for tutorial info; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75982
  3. The Rockwell ov-10 Bronco CAS Aircraft please.
  4. Short answer is; No, there isn't a Campaign tutorial/walkthrough. The reason for this is that the campaign itself is semi-dynamic in that the missions are linked together based on your performance. http://www.giantbomb.com/digital-combat-simulator-a-10c-warthog/3030-31895/ My advice is to learn what you can from the tutorial missions in game, then learn about jtac & creating nav points from the wiki, then jump in and give the campaign a go, refer back to the tutorials and the wiki when specific hurdles arrise, and if you get realy stuck with something in particular, chime in on the forum and ask.
  5. Might be something on that here; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75982
  6. When you start altering the structural integrity of your computer niche with after-market spares from Fairchild, Rockwell, and NG . When your xmass letter to santa reads "Dear SATL Claus, for Dizzmass this year I'd like to requisition..."
  7. Here is a thread I found on MANPAD; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=72813 I think your on the right track with the CM programs. Not sure Id call it cheating to go high altitude though, It seems to be the done thing as far as how the AI likes to attack with it's GBU's. EDIT; NOE flight is usually performed by aircraft with either the ability to stop dead (attack helicopters, etc ) or go really really fast (f111, b1b, etc) using sophisticated terrain following radar. Because of the relative slow speed of the a10 and the lack of VTOL, your most likely going to get shot dead by a farmer with an antique rifle (like Lieutenant Morgan "Morg" McPhearson did in "Flight of the Intruder").
  8. Your going to need the premiere CAS aircraft of the era.. the Rockwell OV-10 Bronco . http://www.volanteaircraft.com/ov-10.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Rockwell_OV-10_Bronco
  9. Thanks, that narrows things down some, we are using easy comms.
  10. I thought the comments were quite interesting. Particularly this link http://www.volanteaircraft.com/ov-10.htm , a fascinating story on the development of the ov-10 CAS Aircraft.
  11. I reccommend reading "Stuka Pilot" as mentioned in the a10c manual. Great read and really gives you a "feel" for CAS flying as well as an appreciation of the A10's potential and how it all came about. The following link feels as though it takes off from where Hans Ulrich Rudel leaves off and fills the gap between wwII and sitting in your a10 office. http://www.volanteaircraft.com/ov-10.htm
  12. Bug Observed in 1.2.8 (beta) Comms in the a10c campaign (using easy comms) appears to be broken Tested in DCS Version 1.2.7 (Stable) ; Could not re-create the error (all comms with jtac and wingman work) Tested in DCS Version 1.2.8 (Beta) ; Error re-created easily. (radio appears to be broken, no response from AI assets). To re-create the fault Using the mission editor; load up "Push - 2-3.miz". Fly mission and attempt to use the radio to communicate with AI assets (wingman, jtac, etc). AI units will fail to respond to commands (fault condition achieved). Temporary Workaround A good temporary solution would be to use the 1.2.7 stable release until the beta is debugged further. Alternatively, txmtb reports being able to get around this bug by not using easy comms in the options menu. Fault Status Flagged under " » Digital Combat Simulator » DCS World » DCS Open Beta 1.2.8 Test Reports » a10c Radio broken in Campaign » " ( http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2046973#post2046973 ) __________________
  13. Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it, and there was no change in behaviour, comms remains broken after the save.
  14. Using the mission editor; load up "Push - 2-3.miz". Fly mission and attempt to use the radio to communicate with AI assets (wingman, jtac, etc). Tested in DCS Version 1.2.7 (Stable) ; Could not re-create the error (all comms with jtac and wingman work) Tested in DCS Version 1.2.8 (Beta) ; Error re-created easily. (radio appears to be broken, no response from AI assets). I think It's a bug in the 1.2.8 beta, a good temporary solution would be to use the 1.2.7 stable release until the beta is debugged further. If anyone else can verify it would help out greatly. thanks.
  15. Will try and take a look. Are you using version 1.2.7 ? Are you talking about the campaign mission "Push - 1-2.miz" ? (check in the mission editor for the specific mission file you are having difficulty with).
  16. Recently read about this, any thoughts? http://nextbigfuture.com/2013/05/unmanned-a10-will-be-uav-under-complete.html
  17. It has come to my attention that some people may have missed my final post in this thread, and are attempting to use it as a means of humiliating and discrediting me in other unrelated posts... To go over it again; {Quote}; If I have offended anyone with my limited civilian knowledge of complex classified military systems and my ill temper over the last few days then I am truly sorry. Perhaps my knowledge on the subject is limited and out of date. {End quote} This is a heart-felt and sincere apology that goes out all. At the time I was having IRL issues and in hindsight, should not have been posting at all. There is great truth in ENO's motto; "Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret." Thanks.
  18. Bug Found and Reported The problem is not in any "specific mission", It affects all missions. The Artificial Intelligence of the wingman has a problem switching from Gun attack to any other form of attack. To re-produce the fault Load up Any instant action mission, task the wingman to destroy a target with Gun, allow the wingman time to destroy the target and rejoin. Then task the wingman to destroy a target with missile or bomb, the wingman will no longer be able to attack (fault condition achieved). ( Once I had a rare occasion where the wingman was still able to attack with a bomb at the next waypoint, I allowed him 1 pass with the bomb and then tasked him to complete the attack with Gun. After that the fault occurred. ) Temporary Workaround Avoid telling the wingman to use the gun. All other directed attacks ( ie with missile, bombs, etc) should be ok, but once he is in gun mode, thats all he will use. Fault Status Nate (ED Testers Team) has taken a look at it for us. He has Reproduced the fault in a simple track and reported it. Hopefully a fix is on the way. __________________
  19. A bug in the AI has been observed and reported via official channels, Hopefully a fix is now in the works. In any case, you are more than welcome to read this post from start to finish, try to recreate the fault, and add to the temporary workaround. Thanks.
  20. The problem is not in any "specific mission", It affects all missions. The Artificial Intelligence of the wingman has a problem switching from Gun attack to any other form of attack. I believe the "Wingmen Unable" ( http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122201 ) post is strongly related to this error. To re-produce the fault Load up Any instant action mission, task the wingman to destroy a target with Gun, allow the wingman time to destroy the target and rejoin. 21. Tested in DCS World version: 1.2.7 (stable) ; Error is easily replicated. Tested in DCS World version 1.2.8.26123 (beta) ; Error is easily replicated. Thanks for the quick response Nate, much appreciated by all.
  22. I have just found (thanks to kontiuka ) that the wingmen can get trapped in Gun mode, this maybe an effect. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122695 (EDIT) Bug Found and Reported The problem is not in any "specific mission", It affects all missions. The Artificial Intelligence of the wingman has a problem switching from Gun attack to any other form of attack. 23. My solution for now is to avoid telling the wingman to use the gun. All other directed attacks ( ie with missile, bombs, etc) should be ok, but once he is in gun mode, thats all he will use. This is definitely something the DEV Team needs to look into. I can only guess that perhaps the function to change the reticle in the Gun master mode was added, and the Wingman AI was not updated to use the new functionality, hence becoming "trapped" in gun mode.
  24. I have loaded the mission and tried as you have said. I can confirm the behaviour is odd. It seems that once you order the wingman to use the gun, no other method attack is possible for him. Also the same case in the easy missions. I have noticed that when I allow the wingman option for what weapon to use, he uses the gun only when no other option is availabe. When I am in Gun master mode I cannot change weapon as that function now changes the gun sight instead of weapon type, first I have to change Master mode out of Gun Mode then change weapon. Could this be what is stopping the wingman from changing back to other weapons?
