  1. I want to go to Las Vegas Thanks for this :)
  2. +1 I know one of the pilots, and the niece of one of my wife's friends is also one of the pilots.
  3. As with all things, it depends. I have a soft spot for the C-130, as well as some of the helicopters. I think that having transport craft, will round out the stable. I am not intending to purchase every aircraft, just the ones that interest me.
  4. I think (especially with the NTTR map) there is a place for the basic trainers. While I might consider this one - I would certainly buy a de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk T mk10 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_DHC-1_Chipmunk). I flew one when I was an Air Cadet a few times. However it would be for me more a trip down memory lane, rather than having it for the learning experience. (Though having a collection of Primary Trainer to Super Jet Fighter would make a collection complete.)
  5. Just to rub some more salt in the open wound of a civilian plane being included within DCS. Here is a photo I took today at the Koksijde Fly-in of a civilian plane in military colours. I happen to know a pilot who flew one of these during the Vietnam War. No prizes for guessing who made it, and which model/designation it is! If in doubt look at some of the earlier posts :D I cannot get the photo to upload, so if any one can tell me what I am doing wrong, I would be grateful. So here is the link for it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/smm4qbfen6kswxo/P7040019.JPG?dl=0 Best regards Sleuth
  6. King Hrothgar, I can understand your interest in something that has seen actual combat. However that does limit the available aircraft. I think it would be interesting to see a comparison of aircraft that haven't been bloodied in battle to those that have. Especially if they have been built to the exacting DCS standards (virtually actual spec & handling characteristics!) Just because a country did not go to war, doesn't mean the aircraft is bad! The TSR2 was an aircraft that was cancelled due to policy changes of the UK Government. It would have been interesting to see if it actually lived up to its reputation as being an advanced aircraft. Best regards Sleuth
  7. I will agree with Mjau about having the SAAB fighters in the DCS stable. I think the Draken & Viggen are some of the best looking aircraft. (I am British so I don't have the same patriotic pride as Mjau does!) Having said that I think we should also include the Harrier, TSR2 as well as most of the Post WW2 aircraft. EE Lighning, Hawker Hunter, as well as the Sea Vixen. We should not forget the WW2 planes. There are so many aircraft that are worthy of being immortalised within DCS, we should not forget them.
  8. I have a fascination for military aircraft from WW2 onwards, so anything post '39.

    no sound at all

Just to give an update. If anyone else is running DCS World on Windows 8.1 without sound, and no way of updating the DirectX, try re-installing the DCS program. It worked for me. Best regards Sleuth

    no sound at all

This is my first post on the forum. Hi, I hope there are a number of people who can give me some advice. Sorry for adding to this thread, when I know somewhat what the problem is. I too have a problem with DCS thinking it cannot start (please see the log file attached.) This problem has come to light after the computer crashed over Christmas, and everything was fresh installed. On the previous system, everything was running perfectly. My problem? I cannot " persuade" the system to reinstall DirectX 11. Windows update does not have it, and the runtime link is for DirectX 9. Any advice or assistance would be gratefully received. Thanks very much and best regards Sleuth dcs-log.txt
