  1. Your settings are WAY too high with that hardware. PD to 1.4 Drop your shadows to medium. Heat blur off. Lens effects off. Terrain shadows to flat only. (Shadows are a killer for VR) Give that a try. With my rig at those settings with the Rift S, I get smooth visuals between 50 and 80 fps for most situations.
  2. My IPD is 66 and I'm getting a generous sized sweet spot with only a slight loss of sharpness at the very edges. I'm wearing prescription glasses and the headset is nearly at it's closest adjustment point. It's an awesome piece of kit :)
  3. Many people (check the Oculus forum) including me have had a similar problem. Un plugging and re plugging the display port plug on the PC fixes it for me at the start of a session. It then stays connected until I power down the PC. Next day, rinse and repeat. It's going to be a software problem..Oculus will be working on it.
  4. Congratulations! These 'First time in VR' posts never get old :)
  5. Well, I can always get it up ok....it's the landing where it all goes wrong
  6. Jason Rubin said recently that the pass through wouldn't immediately be available to third party devs, but likely in the future.
  7. +1 I always have to launch from the desktop shortcut.
  8. Sorry, am I being dim, but why doesn't the 1440 side of the Rift rectangle match the 1440 side of the Index rectangle in your diagram?
  9. You are correct of course, but we shall see when users report back :smilewink:
  10. Yeah, but the Index is only a 1440 line display. I bet there will be little difference in the experience compared to the Rift S.
  11. Ordered the Rift S...now the wait....:)
  12. +1 I was going to say pick up on that too. It seemed the only advantage of pentile Oled is the better blacks. But the trade off is lower detail at the same resolution and less separation of tones in dark areas of the image.
  13. +1 I'm pretty sure I'll be going for the Rift S. I get great smooth frame rates with my Rift and the last thing I want is to 'put up' with stuttering, glitches and edge of frame distortions. For the money, I'm happy with the modest upgrade and will look at a next generation in a couple of years...if i live that long
  14. Yep, I occasionally get this. A PC reboot always get's it started for me.
  15. To be fair, Nate Mitchell said it had a screen 'similar' to the Go. We wait to see....
  16. I haven't seen any video capture via 'pass through' I was using my optimistic imagination to bet on what may come eventually. :)
  17. but it has a 'pass through' camera, so I bet eventually with a green screen you'll be able to overlay your simpit with the VR world :)
  18. +1 and being Oculus, it will work straight out of the box and be comfy to wear :) Debit card ready
  19. The only time I've had the Rift blackout momentarily is when the Oculus software has been updating in the background.
  20. Ah right...I see where you are coming from now
  21. +1 Anything which starts chipping away at the 'reality' of VR is a backward step in my opinion. Happy for you to have the option tho' Good luck :puke:
  22. I have the same cpu as you and with my 1080ti I don't drop below 45fps flying at tree top height over Normandy. A couple of thousand feet and I'm getting between 70 and 90fps. Locked at 90 over the sea and at high altitudes. Oculus Rift at 1.4 pd and pretty much the same in-game settings as Don.
  23. The point I was trying to make was, that from my limited experience I didn't bash my head on the canopy 'cos I knew where it was and so avoided any painful collisions. I've experienced 'the other' flight sim that has the head collision feature..I found it annoying
