  1. Dear All!

I am having an issue and thought to post here first instead of a support ticket. I happen to need to reinstall my OS therefore I started to deactivate all my mods to reactivate them after fresh install.

The problem is that on of my modules, namely the A-10C ran out of deactivations last time I did similarly. Star force should give an extra after 31 days, at least that is what the support page says, but as the last deactivation was over a year ago, it clearly did not happen.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

  2. Dear All!

I have a slight problem I would like to ask your help about.

I recently started a simple cockpit project, I want to have it based on Jedi's cockpit plans oprimized by geneb.

My problem is that the plans are optimized for a 5mm cutter head and the guys who are cutting the are working with a 12mm one, therefore at some places there is not enough room between parts.

Anybody knows a good solution or software that can optimize the dxf plans? Not a cad rawing expert at all :(

Thank you very much for the help.

  3. the health warning you have to look at the bottom line that says: "look here for 2 seconds or pres "A" on controller" and it will go away, it comes up before every APP.

"...hover over this text for 2 seconds" this is that works in 1.5.3 and does not in 2.0.2 just if you Alt-Tab. I don't have an Xbox controller and didn't figure out the key on the keyboard :D

  4. Hello Guys!

Just looked into the new version of patch 2.0.2, probably it is fixed for the Hawk, but I cannot assess it as I am not available to get into the cockpit.

    - Join to MP server results in crash every single time you press the fly button on brifeing page.

    - fast mission doesn't even start most of the times

    - Crashes when try to enter through the mission editor as well

Please not that I use oculus rift with runtime 1.3 and latest nvidia drivers on a gtx 970. Tried repair DCS openalpha as well no improvement.

One more thing, for some reason you cannot bypass Oculus runtimes Health and safety warning without Alt-Tab out from DCS.

I also have 1.5.3 release version installed which works without any problems with stellar performance.

Logs folder ZIP icluded in this post

Edit: oh yes sorry, uploaded now

  5. DCSW2 is Currently at 2.0.1.xxxx

Oculus 1.3 Runtime and the Adjustments + Updated GUI is part of 2.0.2, Which was briefly released Friday, and eventually pulled form the updater due to a High CPU Usage issue.

All the Oculus 1.3 Runtime Items, ATW, etc will come with 2.0.2

Indeed, but the OP specificly mentioned DCSW 1.5, which is already updated to runtime 1.3 ;)

With the DK2 I tend to use original resolution and mixing high/medium settings, and in 1.5.3 the framerates are more than enjoyable, not manage to get 75 all the time though, but nevertheless the 1.3 runtime is way way better than 0.8.0.0 was before.

Also make sure you have the (in case you are on the green side) latest Nvidia drivers, which already have the VR support.

  6. Hey Steve! To one extent I agree with your concept, but not for the TF-51. At the end of the day the TF-51 comes free of charge so better to hook your friend in a formation flying excersize where both of you are pilots ;)

  7. In theory yes, but still there needs to be somebody to do it. From a business perspective the question remains how many more sales the effort generates.

The dual screen adaption shouldn't be that hard, yet I don't know how much effort the different head tracking/sensor solutions need.

I guess ED will support the Vive eventually, but not necessarily to "make money". When they have spare resources in that area, or to see if Vive is "better" than Oculus Rift maybe?

The whole point is, what you get out of the additional effort, other than helping HTC/Valve to sell the Vive?

The point of view is nevertheless logical, but we have to take the marketshare into consideration. In the current world of video games where SEGA gets mad on Alien: Isolation for selling only 2+ million copies, I would not expect HTC and Valve to get thrilled by the idea of a niche market product such as DCS to be the "system seller".

For us DCS is a dream come true, for an average gamer, it is an overly serious product behind a high wall of manuals and learning curve :)

  8. keyboard + mouse? why not.. better to begin this way as not to begin at all

Very true, I started SU-25 and keyboard only but at a certain point of being involved in this hobby, you will make the step forward and once you did, you will never go back.

Try your first cheap jostick and you'll never go back to keyboard, try a hotas warthog you'll never go back to a plastic jostick, try the oculus rift you will never go back to a monitor.

When the Simulator bug bites, it bites hard :D

  9. Hey Guys!

I think we have plenty of DCS fans here who got a DK2 and have been disappointed as in it's current state a black screen is what you get from you AMD video card.

I'm sure I'm not the oly one who found this out, but as I didn't see it written on the forums, I thought, ehy not make a thread for it quickly :)

So all you need for this is the Rift, Notepad++ and a TrackIR.

    1. go to the DCSWorld\config\Monitorsetup folder and open the Stereo.lua in notepad++ and edit the "eyeshift" lines to your needs, this is basicly the IPD in stereo rendering, it is experimental, whatevere fits your eyes the best (on default it is 0.06 which is waaaay too high, the best for me is 0.035)

    2. open dcs set the the monitor from 1 screen to stereo then exit

    3. Make sure your Rift is in extended desktop mode and the set it as a primary display in the windows screen resolution menu

    4. Don't forget to fire up the TrackIR before you fire up DCS :)

    5. Get over the annoying fact that the mouse pionter has an offset of 3 cms to the left and the GUI is not in stereo :P you can drag the smaller menus to either left side or right side

I thought it's not going to work too well but as soon as I put the trackir camera in a position not to be blocked by the DK2 when turning my head tracking works wonderfully, and most interesting thing is that the image is somehow not distorted by the lens, incredibble 3D depth and everything has proper size.

Hope that helps to some people, if you have any questions, let me know.

Oh, and I cannot confirm it yet but I guess this will work in MP as well :)

    Cheers

  10. As nooby as it may sound, try to invert the brake axii and see if that helps. Speaking from experience here my laddie :music_whistling:

No worries, reversing the wheelbrake axis is always the first thing I do whenever I have to remake the input files :) , the problem here is not sticky brake, but the rear wheels start to stop and slide for the slightest brake input.

  11. Hey Guys! First of all thanks for the module, it is absolutely gorgeous, the most satisfying landings ever :)

I have noticed a few things I haven't seen reproted anywhere.

    1. Very strong wheelbrake skidding (not sure about IRL)

    2. Instant full blackout during 360 degrees roll, but just in single player

    3. after belly landing lowering the gears are able to fully extend and raise the weight of the whole plane (not sure if it is possible IRL)

    Cheers

    TBR
