  1. Great video. Just what I was looking for. Short, sweet and loaded with easy to understand info.
  2. I think your using the wrong comm menu button. What I do, first make sure Jester has selected the tanker in the radio menu. After, I think its "right Ctl +\ to access that radio, UHF/VHF? Then you should get response from tanker. Please, someone with more knowledge correct or confirm this. I am not 100% sure of this.

  6. ok thanks Deano87. I wasn't using stick for pitch at all as soon as I lowered landing gear and flaps. I thought I was supposed to do all trim at that point but its clear now. I appreciate everyone's input and helping me figure this out. I'm landing smooth and softly every time now, even getting the carriers no problem. Now I just need to get those patterns down instead of sitting in the groove for 20 minutes or flying way past the runway.
  7. Holy cow what a difference a few good worded posts can accomplish! Im starting to get it now. Landed several times nice and softly on first pass. The only thing I cant get down now is the start of the trim. As soon as I drop gear and flaps I am ready for the nose to pitch up, but my trim is so slow Im always about 2 miles past my 90 degree turn before I have trim set to correct AOA. Then its a nice long flight to runway for touchdown. Don't know how I will get trim set up so fast for carrier turns. How does everyone else trim it so fast?
  8. Lol thanks guys. All this is really helpful. Honestly I think my biggest mistakes happened in the turns as I was still pitching the plane when it would go nose down. As I understand it now I need to be applying more throttle a bit before the turn to 90 to prevent that. Also DONT TOUCH THE PITCH!!! :) That's going to be the hardest thing for me to forget as it (to me) feels so unnatural. I'll keep at it with these tips and videos. I'll get it soon and I know I'll laugh at this in time but yes there is much cursing lately in my household. But I am flying a Navy jet so, theres that.
  9. Ok guys so here it is, sorry in the beginning while saving it I accidentally slowed the game down. I thought my frame rate just really dropped but I'm just an idiot (this is what you have to work with.) As you can see I also turn into final too tight, bounce all over hell, and I don't know what to work on first, getting the velocity vector at the right AOA or getting the E bracket somewhat level. Right now I'm trying to do both and I think that makes me pitch up and down wildly. Heres a link to the same track I uploaded to youtube if that's easier for anyone.   10. Sorry guys I was wondering if I posted a .miz file if someone would give me some pointers on what Im doing wrong. Ive watched as many videos as I can find, Ive RTFM, and done the training missions over and over and over again but I cant seem to landing right or even consistently bad, its always totally different for me. And this is landing on both land and CVNs. My main problem is always bouncing up and down with the trim, I cant seem to get it anywhere near where it needs to be even with a straight in approach to a huge airfield. If I post a file with my controls showing, would anyone care to make observations to help me figure this out? My throttle management seems to be getting better, I can keep the E bracket somewhat in the same place but like everyone when I drop flaps I lose my trim and after I level out for final I jump up 100 feet again. Believe it or not Im having somewhat better luck landing on the carrier but boy is it the ugliest landing the Navy has ever seen. :music_whistling:
  11. I have a feeling its something Im doing with the lasing of the target. Am I supposed to hold the laser for a bit? Or just press and release the pinkie button?
  12. Getting back into the A-10 which I was never very good at, playing a practice mission to drop some GBUs and CBUs on some easy to find targets. Get lined up, got CCRP, TGP, etc. Lase the target, get the CCRP pipper on hud, get all the good hud messages i.e. rdy, man release, etc. Not having problems with the alignment or anything. Hold the weapons release button and...….nothing. Well until Im hit by a manpad but not worried about that, just curious what Im missing.
  13. Thanks for the info gents. One question I have Mr mojo, you said I'd still get a half decent price for the 970, is there a place that takes old cards? Or do you mean eBay? Oh and went ahead and got 16 mb ram shipping now. That will have to do for a bit
  14. If you look down in my sig you'll see my system specs. Currently running a 970, but rumor has it a new round of GPU are coming out soon, which hopefully will drop the prices of existing cards now. So my question is would I see a huge increase running DCS World on a 2560x1080 (superwide) monitor if I would to go up to say a 1080? I know RAM would also help sooner rather than later, and that will be upgraded with or without a new GPU. Any suggestions or would it just be a waste of money to upgrade the 970 at the moment?

  16. Im building a mission set in the '80s where the USSR is still alive and well. Problem is when I go to place a Soviet plane I cannot get the TU bombers. Even the mission type for the aircraft list only lets me pick CAS. Everything else is not selectable. Is this a result of my coalition list using USSR instead of Russia? Or something stupid Im doing? Im guessing the second one :)
  17. Can I make a campaign now and use the AI F-14 as a placemat for the release version scheduled in the future? I am new to campaign building so I figured this would give me some time to get everything the way I want it until the (hopefully soon) release. If I do use the ai F-14, can I run the missions ai only just to test the triggers and events and watch the results? Thanks for the info
  18. I too have tacview 1.7 and before the update had the icon in the main menu, now I do not. I'm sure its something simple, probably something in our save files but with so many files and folders for dcs, I don't what to mess around and screw up my install.

  20. Anyone have some good museums to check out the F-14 while we wait for it here? If so, how close can you get? Inside cockpit views etc? I know the ANG museum here in Minneapolis MN had one at one time, but I don't know if it is still there or not.
  21. I feel like an addict waiting for the next small "taste." I was being so patient for so long, telling myself to hold on, it'll come eventually. Now that I can almost sense the arrival I'm getting impatient. I know a lot of my other DCS modules will suffer as a result of the F-14 release. I mean come on, learning to take off, fly, land; and then learn it all again off a carrier! Then to learn the weapons etc....this thing will take a lot of my DCS time....heck it may take ALL of my DCS time once released. Cobra, any more small "tastes" for us addicts? :)
  22. I'm curious how many will stop playing the F/A-18 once the F-14 comes out, if it does come out after. Maybe its just in my small niche of friends but the F-14 seems to be more wanted and a better all around plane (in this sim) now that we see it can carry some A2G ordinance. It can carry it farther, faster, and with more fuel for hanging around than the Hornet. The only leg up I see with the Hornet (again in this sim), seems to be the upgraded flight and electronics. F-14 is without a doubt a day once buy whenever I can throw my money to you guys. The Hornet, don't know if I will even get it, unless it was released 5 years before the F-14.

Only thing I seem to be having trouble with is on my warthog hotas, I cant seem to start the engine. the switches are working as when I hit them it moves the same switch inside the cockpit in game, but its been a 50/50 just starting both engines. When starting the engines, do I push the two switches above the apu starter up and keep them middle? Seems I have more luck pushing them down and locking them in the down position. Also checked the off and idle setting by lifting up the two throttles and those are working fine. Obviously I'm starting in the off position but moving to idle doesn't start them. Even made sure to check if the in game setting for syncing the hotas with the game was there and yes, its synced.
  24. Yeah, I was stupid. Thought I had gotten them all. Ohh well, I was just going to start learning the A-10 again anyhow so this isn't a huge loss. Just a heads up for others that are going to upgrade soon as a reminder.
  25. Space on hard drive? Check Saved control maps? Check Download update? Check Adjust graphics settings to make it as pretty as possible? Check Start flying A-10 C....woops, forgot to load controls...for some reason I started with F-15, done, Sabre, done, etc etc....get to A-10.....wait? What? Where is the control profiles? :doh: guess I didn't save them. Stupid noob I think to myself, but then I think hurray!!! Thrustmaster warthog hotas premaps already automatically. And it did, just not like how I had it and was used to. Moral of the story for those about to update, check and double check your saved files etc or end up like me trying to figure out how to get it back the way I'm comfortable with.
