  1. I never once heard it referred to as a Viper, during 3 years working on the line in the mid 80's Germany (Dutch and Belgian F-16s). For that matter, I don't remember anyone referring to them as Falcon either. Just F-16. Some history on the naming of the F-16 http://www.f-16.net/articles_article10.html
  2. What sequence did you use to turn on the AP? Pressing the switch until the bug reaches the desired heading, or the HSEL option appears on the UFC allowing you to enter a heading directly. Then if nothing happens, press the AP button to check that HSEL mode is on. The HSI should also show which modes are active at the bottom of the display. BTW - HSEL mode works regardless of radar. ATT switch can be on INS or AUTO - Not STBY (down). The main INS switch on the RH console can be OFF and it still seems to work as long as the ATT switch is selected.
  3. Yes - usually - although these days, I restrict the 3d view to just the central monitor to save on performance. The etxra 4th monitor that makes up the width to 7680 is there purely for instrument export & has 2xMFDs stuck on. So my rig 1s 3xmain+1aux stacked horizontally in (windows) - not been a problem with any other module so far. This is probably due to screen aspect as set in DCS GUI options panel. That might explain why the problem with the in-cockpit displays in VR is MUCH worse, in there it is totally unreadable, but that has already been reported. After so many issues getting multi-monitor working properly, I'm beggining to wonder if any testing is done on anything other than single 1080p monitor. I'm more or less resigned to this stuff never working 100%, but this issue SHOULD be fixable - just make the 18 use the same code as everything else.
  4. Try to avoid using an LGB on a target that is defended by SAM cover Take out the SAM first then bomb your target, preferably using a wingman or other flight to do so beforehand with missiles, or try lofting the LGB for extended range, although I'm not sure how well it works in the A10 module. Clearly if a SA10 is nearby then you are going to have problems ;) If the masking is momentary, and the bomb has sufficient altitude - you might stand a chance of the bomb re-acquiring, but best to keep the turn gentle and avoid sudden movements & not mask.
  5. Not really, there will be much less work involved for the heart to pump blood over the lateral few inches in an x/y axis compared to the 4 feet or so that it has to travel from the bottom of the legs to the brain, and as mentioned above - this is not many seconds at a time - but just a few.
  6. I hear ya ;) But in all seriousness - why on earth would they not set up the G tolerance in the same way that they do for other modules, assuming they are not all the same? How is this coded, in a lua file, or in the modules binary?
  7. SpicyMiG If you are looking at the sidestick - then you are doing it wrong ;)
  8. I have pulled 1 G in an F-16, and it was fine. I don't see what all the fuss is about - it was no worse than pulling 1g in a Mirage or F4. Reclining seat was more comfy though.
  9. If you want some fuzzy photos of Port San Carlos, around the Harrier FOB from 82... FB_IMG_1476864685445.jpg FB_IMG_1476864773152.jpg FB_IMG_1476864839867.jpg FB_IMG_1476864832175.jpg FB_IMG_1476864850540.jpg FB_IMG_1476864781344.jpg
  10. The WH Throttle has more than enough switches, buttons & axes to emulate an f-16. It works fine when I'm using it on the F-16 Sim than cannot be named. I do use a Target profile to get the most out of it though, and a pair of F-16 Cougar MFDs will help. The F16 HOTAS set up is quite similar to the way the A10C works. What I'd like to know is what is the status of GM Radar?
  11. I read that as already being part of the "working as expected" - Once the testing was completed - and all parties had agreed on what was expected, then manuals would be amended, and procedures altered accordingly. PS. Just found this online - very interesting anecdotal stuff - with mention of the K diving issue (search for "locked up"): http://www.virtualpilots.fi/feature/articles/109myths/
  12. Are we there yet? Have we reached the conclusion yet that these tabs are just there to set things up so the aircraft works as expected in a normal flight regime, rather than something that is constantly being adjusted? Hands up all aircraft riggers with flight line experience. The referral to the test results noted throughout the thread were I assume to determine the best settings to use for the above. Once that was determined, then surely the aircraft was rigged accordingly. No need to piss about with trim tabs by anyone unless the aircraft was a: damaged & required replacements, or b: in for a servicing that required the controls to be rigged.
  13. Port Stanley City & airport is quite different now judging by Google photos. Port San Carlos no longer has the Harrier strip. The whole Island now has roads that weren't there in 82, and apart from Mount Pleasant, there seem to be a lot of new buildings around, and a lot fewer wrecked Argentinian Armoured cars, Puccaras & helicopters around Stanley & other places.

  15. So - what is the result of this 2 year long thread? has anything changed in the module since the start of it? Forgive my lateness to the party - (only 3 years late), but I just purchased the module & would like to know when the moving map is going to be implemented for example. I note that NVGs no longer seem to be an issue, although sun-glasses (visor) is still broken?
  16. I looked too, only finding the vids I linked to (filmed at Middle Wallop - UK), and I think my lack of French language might not help - Google is good to me and usually only provides English language searches - because everyone only writes in English right ;) Oh, apart from everyone who isn't - like the French.
  17. Having only just bought it in the Spring sale - I know, noob! - I am more than a little surprised at how many things people complained about as bugs or just in general as far back as 3 years ago, are still present, with little or no acknowledgement, or a promise that it will be fixed soon. Even a simple texture change to correct a spelling mistake on a placard in the cockpit - which, lets face it although not a game changer, would take a dev a matter of half an hour to fix. Therefore I don't think much else is going to change anytime soon unless it is something that ED insists on.
  18. Thanks for these tips CHPL - they make handling this thing much more manageable without taking away too much from the liveliness - at least on my warthog setup. I have also added a curve to that - and it works for me. When I first got a DCS chopper (B.S.), I used a Saitek X52 Pro which had much looser springs - and tbh, that was a lot better for fine control of rotary a/c IMO, but most modulse I have are fixed wing - so WH it is.
  19. Works here once I get the usage parameters right. It is useful for longer flights where you might have to concentrate on other issues than maintaining altitude. I think the important thing to take into consideration is that even once it is ON, that it will drop out again if speed drops below the criteria for it to be set in the first place, which I believe is 120Km/h, and that using the collective in this mode lowers or raises speed.
  20. Nice video, but as mentioned above, the 341 seems to have a different switch setup - that looks like it is a W/A 341 not a 342 as far as I can tell. I don't think the Army had anything other than AH1 (341A or Bs). As always, I may be wrong. ;) BTW - I'm just a few miles away from there...
  21. yes, it is odd - I assume Polychop bought a set of pilots notes for this version at least? I did look at a startup video for a 341, and the starter switch is definitely sprung loaded, so you have to hold it in the UP/ignition position & it springs back to the middle/Run position when released after T4 indication. However: This video shows the offending switch in the real thing is as modelled at least: (skip to 2:14) The fuel pump seems to have little effect once the engine is started, but we leave it on, only the starter switch will shut off the engine. Is that correct? The Black & Yellow Emergency Fuel Shut-off valve is not modelled at all, which is a very odd omission. Granted, these are normally locked with copper telltale wire, but they should be there as part of any emergency procedure. This article describes a civilian 342, including a brief mention of the start switch: http://www.mwhelicopters.co.uk/File/LeapingAhead.pdf A similar description in this article: http://www.mwhelicopters.co.uk/File/UndiscoveredGem.pdf
  22. Here's the official blurb on the system:- "Thales Optronic Systems, in Guyancourt, France, provide the HOT / Viviane day / night sight. The roof-mounted Viviane includes day sight, infrared camera, laser rangefinder and CCD localiser. The stabilised sight and the slaving of the missile launcher in elevation permit firing from hover or in translation at speeds up to 150km/h and evasive manoeuvres at rates up to 6° a second after missile launch. Range of the missile when helicopter-launched is 4,300m." Source: https://www.army-technology.com/projects/hot/ So it should (with the application of 2 humans) allow you to fire and guide on the move. I only have one human available (me), so am unable to reliably test. After reading a lot of the Gazelle forums, I get the feeling that not a lot of these things have been fixed in the last 3 years, so don't hold your breath.
  23. Still broken for me on a 2560x1440 monitor in a multiscreen setup. Only the RH 3/4 of the screen is covered by the graphic - the lua doing this looks very convoluted compared to the harrier one. The Harrier works just fine.
