  1. @RuskyVoff topic, how do you like flying with a ffb.
  2. instructor mode (I don’t remember the name it’s in mission editor) changes how the electronic change of controls works (pilot station can just take them without consent and I believe give them so you can prep the other dude verbally, transfer and if he gets outta whack take them back), while I appreciate the difficulty of the jerk, if you’re allowing it to get that far out of control before taking over with this style of control input you would 100% crash so the end result is the same if not worse. I’m mainly referencing this at the hardest times to control the aircraft which would be at a hover, short final for landing and potentially after take off pending the weight and conditions. Aircraft enters unusual attitude you recover. Anyone can fly it at cruise. Neat idea, without ffb it’s likely to be ineffective. Potentially a variant where one control surface at a time can be independently transferred so the student isn’t overwhelmed immediately. I think continuous control inputs from two players adds more variables in a sensitive control trying to recover the aircraft. It’d be better to deal with the jerk and place the controls in the proper position imo.
  3. It’ll be a fun experiment if they include it. I still think it’ll have diminishing returns with both people fighting each other. maybe it’ll work out. Also if both people aren’t flying at the same time why include this, why not transfer the controls and have it set to instructor pilot mode so the other dude can save the aircraft? Seems like the same thing with more possible confusion. Just a thought.
  4. I think this would induce confusion without proper force feedback between the two people with them likely ending up fighting each others control inputs. Would be a fun experience but probably more frustration than anything. A possible solution would be selectively giving one or combination of controls to the other pilot. So they aren’t fighting all 3 inputs and the balance between all three. Get comfortable with each of the individual controls, introduce a second and see how they work with each other, then eventually all three. Idk.
  5. After getting the engines started you can swap to the front seat and fly solely from the front seat and operate similar to a ka50.
  6. The only option I’m aware of that accomplishes something similar to what you want is the ffb option, third option on the drop down in the special menu for the pedals
  7. So, the controls are rigged for gyroscopic precession. Otherwise to change the pitch you would have to move the controls laterally. I imagine that the effect is them fine tuning the flight model. But all helicopters even the most rudimentary flight control systems have their controls so that pitch is off set so the blades actually feather in vicinity of the 3-9 o clock positions and for roll in vicinity of the 12-06 clock positions. The scas systems of helicopters helps, but the mechanisms that control the blades are usually mechanically offset. tl,dr gyroscopic precession isn’t something the pilot deals with except with going through etl usually. It’s engineered/designed to be countered. This is more and likely them working out the flight model
  8. If you want msl altitude go to the flight page or switch to cruise symbology. It will more closely align with what you’re seeing on the f10 map.
  9. I’m probably a newb at using these programs but the issue I had was I couldn’t use two buttons at once with the program, I think it’s because how the axis on the Xbox controller is read as one axis but I’m probably wrong. The issue is if I’m just trying to fire it’s fine but I need to lase and fire it wouldn’t detect both at the same time. Do you peeps have a work around or am I setting it up wrong?
  10. It’s not possible, what you can do is remove the hdu and have a flight page up. Or get in position and switch to tads. But it is all or nothing if you sight select tads Some people dim hdu or lower the flir level and gain, to me that doesn’t make a lot of sense but maybe that will be something you can look into, but if it were me I’d remove the hdu by pressing ‘i’ or whatever you have it bound too
  11. Didn’t know it doesn’t work in multiplayer, I’m sure I saw a thread about it but forgot. Thanks for correcting me, my bad. Hopefully this solves your issue for now @X_legio
  12. Go to your cord page and select it and it will be available to use as an acq source. I believe you can use the cursor and select it too from the tsd but I don’t remember right now. You can find the cord page from the wpn page or the tsd Use the buttons on the left side of the MPD to select, the right side will only show more info about the point
  13. Some peeps like removing the spring in helis because of how trimming the tail rotor works, it tends to remain in a position for a while depending on your flight profile, for example at a hover with the Apache or Huey expect to hold left pedal in, while the mi8 and mi24 will be right pedal, in cruise it’ll be less, it’s so you don’t have to fight the spring tension the entire time. I haven’t removed mine but they are set pretty soft. Do what you’re comfortable with and try different things out to find out what works for you.
  14. In order to avoid large overshoots the technique I’ve adopted is retrimming more often so the magnitude of overshoot is not as large and coordinating between button push and centering control input if it’s cyclic or pedal. Hope this helps, good luck, I’m personally not a fan of center position trimming because my technique is bad and it gets me killed
  15. The way the brake works, if you apply pressure it releases the handle. So to set it the pilot has to press the brake pedals, pull and hold the handle, release pressure off the brakes and then release the handle, weird but it is how it is. I haven’t played in a while but I believe it’s the same in the sim. Releasing is easy. Just press the brake pedals and it should pop right back in. arm safe, I believe there’s a deal that George is actually re arming your aircraft so he can fire again if necessary, I believe there’s a report about it somewhere on the bug form. Maybe even a workaround I’ll look for it here in a min and if I find it I’ll post it here
  16. So if you’re using hmd as a sight, there’s not really a purpose to acquisition your head (ghs from cpg as ex) because it’s already tracking your head, the cued los reticle would be latched to your los if that makes sense. If you’re flying at night and have nvs on you cannot sight select tads. If pilot has nvs and has selected tads as their sensor, you cannot sight select tads. Or if tads is turned off, I’m sure I’m missing something but you should be able to sight select tads generally in most other conditions and the acquisition option for ghs should become available too you. Sight select is on the tedac handle or the mission grip of the collective, nothing with the mpd pages. Then you would use the mpds to select your desired acquisition source As far as it being blocked, just a stupid idea but you are bore sighting your ihadss right? I don’t think that would be it but maybe. Nvs off tads is displayed in the lower left corner? And anything other than ghs in the lower right and ghs is has a barrier?
  17. Max rate of climb is same airspeed as best endurance but with the rest of your available power applied. @NeedzWD40 Yes, and for a helicopter vx could be zero airspeed, but like swift said sometimes that power isn’t available.
  18. What special options mode are you currently in? And does the force trim reset work? Verify on the ac util page that trim is selected on. I don’t know if any of my suggestions will help but hopefully.
  19. Granted the difference between a users hardware and dcs is a valid point, what I can say is if you disable trim in the ac util page the force trim is no longer enabled in the aircraft and if you let go of the cyclic it will physically fall over. So by disabling force trim the stick will no longer recenter because it has no spring tension to bring it back, how that plays out between hardware of a user with a joystick with springs and how dcs represents it that’s up for debate I guess. In other words, the spring tension comes from force trim, and every time you retrim it, that is the new center position for the spring tension. With it turned off, there is no spring tension for the pedals or cyclic.
  20. Seeker is the missile seeker from the hellfire when it’s tracking a laser, ?00 should be either a cm, wp, or tgt but you don’t have any selected yet.
  21. This Video shows what I did, I couldn’t find the video I used but skipping through it looks to be the same, take it apart, clean the rails, put a little tape on and grease both sides, not too much because it’ll make a mess and just collect dust and hair, put it back together, the pre bought bearings are without a doubt easier, this is probably cheaper, I ran this for about 2ish years and never had to redo it, the some of the tape eventually came out, mine was super smooth. If you have the money I’d say go for a more permanent nicer deal like the bearings, but if you don’t this worked really well for me, hopefully it works for you too if you decide to do it.
