Dear Cichlidfan, I am sorry to hear what has happened and I wish you get better, recover well and quickly.
-
Maybe you still have some graphicmod installed in \bin directory, like sweetfx for example.

Exciting times, and nice community support! I'm in for the map and hawk, thanks for the chance. -
stick forces-please make them optional
Cnuke replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I also prefer an option to keep stick position=virtual stick position as well somewhere in the settings. And instead I wish the stickforces could be felt a little bit with FFB. Also visible with a marker showing the forces in the control input graphic. That would fantastic in my opinion and for those that have FFB would make more sense. So an optional setting is better I think. -
That's wonderful support!

I recommend something else , because that thread is showing you steps to lose an activation: Go to the module manager and reinstall the Mig21 module (click on the bin, restart DCS and install it again) If your registry still holds an activation you won't lose one this way. (For now) (1. The update broke the module and 2. The new starforce program isn't deactivating your old activation)

DCS World 1.2.15 Release Build Discussion
Cnuke replied to *Rage*'s topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
EDIT: Maybe the update has been fixed with the MIG-21 issue experienced by early downloaders. The module wasn't working and the important steps from ED in the update log didn't work too. My advice if you still have trouble from the 1.2.15 update with the MIG-21 is to go to module manager and delete your MIG-21 module, restart DCS , install it again from the module manager. -
Like I said we are on a different road when updates takes an activation away for everyone. That's not the function of copy protection and terms we agree on. But that's why I put my faith in the customer support :)
-
That's strange if you couldn't deactivate other modules while building your pc. Anyway, Updates shouldn't break activations, even with the intentions to fix a problem with the key. Best thing to do is not to activate the mig-21 again if you have touched the update 1.2.15. But rather wait until we have a response on what to do or what is being done.
-
Careful with the update, the instructions to deactivate the module have not the desired effect. Appearently Mig-21 module owners are losing activations with this new update. Not at fault but a mistake from the developer and the starforce system. So I suggest resetting all available starforce mig-21 keys from LN back to 10 OR +1 to each license. Any help is welcome ! Starforce message: "Application deactivation is impossible. Your license does not allow the deactivation or the number of deactivations allowed by the license is exceeded. Contact the product publisher"

It's an impossible task here (activated the module once since it came out) ! This is what starforce say: "Application deactivation is impossible. Your license does not allow the deactivation or the number of deactivations allowed by the license is exceeded. Contact the product publisher" -
Have you turned off autorudder / take off assistent in the options menu? I hope you have rudderpedals. It's a special tab for this module in the ''control options '' Turned off will go better, otherwise you might be fighting this. I'm sure it will go better compensating the torque with rudder and rudder corrections, it's a matter of practice. Keep it it going straight on take-off, you could watch the clouds as well as reference to keep straight. (Also there might be some crosswind set in multiplayer)
-
But is it a good idea to let the user find out what's intended? Is the correct FFB setting in the optionsmenu covered in all the manuals of each module? Edit: Seems correctly as said above, when you use trim you have to swap the axis. Or at least test if it's correct with the trim. BS2, Huey, Mi-8 but also the P-51D.

no longer works The Ultimate DCS World JSGME Guide - If you use mods, you need this.
Cnuke replied to Ebs's topic in DCS Modding
I have noticed the zippyshare comes with a folder named MODS... that's not good for DCS World. You need 2 things from the zippyshare download in the OP to install JSGME correctly. JSGME.exe (don't start the program before you finished with this simple setup) and JSGME.ini put those 2 files in your DCS World directory. for example your directory C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World And create a folder yourself in this directory named "_MODS" Open JSGME.ini with notepad.exe (It is better to use the program notepad++, but for now it won't be a problem) The first 4 lines must be setup correctly. the name of the modfolder should be _MODS And the fullpath directory should be exactly the path for JSGME.exe, so where you have installed DCS World and have put JSGME.exe for example: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\JSGME.exe That's it!! Now you can place mods in the _MOD folder for JGSME to activate and de-activate when you launch JSGME.exe :) A mod and the name of the mod is always the primary folder placed in this _MOD folder ( and have modded files and more subdirectories inside it.) You see this name when you start JSGME.exe after placing it there. The folderstructure is simple of the mod, It is a copy of the rootfolder of DCS World when you open the primary mod folder. So JSGME can understand where all the files need to go and back up the replaced files automatically. -
As this thread caught my attention, I gave this feature a test with DCS. First of all don't start downloading DCS World in steam. You don't need to do that :) Add the executable from DCS to your steamlibrary as a non-steamgame so it can be launched. Steam offers a streaming feature, where you can stream your programs and games from one device to another within your home network. So that you actually can use the application on that 2e device with keyboard + mouse or gamepad control. All you need to do is: log in(same account) on steam on 2 devices at the same time on your home-network. And start a program/game by pressing the streaming feature on the 2e device. Crossplatform(different OS) is offered as well (but it could be problematic with controller setups) The practical idea is to stream cpu and gpu heavy apllications/games to a simple tablet or laptop as long as it handles the stream and have steam running ofcourse. It might be possible for you to hook a big screen to your mobile device and have some couchgaming in the livingroom. (If it isn't setup already, or if it is troublesome to do so) You can stream any program even those not in your steamlibrary. So that opens doors for many ideas. Like videostreaming: by adding the executable of the videoplayer to the steamlibrary on the ''main PC'' So it can be streamed over the home network to a ''secondary'' PC, tablet or mobile). The max. screenresolution and format comes from your ''Main 'Device/PC', you can stream higher resolutions supported by the videocard, it will turn off your monitor. Your network speed and set resolution on the main PC can introduce lag as well as stutter. The speed of your second device or lag from that 2e screen can also be the culprit for issues. But it's working very well and generally speaking you will be surprised the lag isn't very noticeable in "reasonable conditions". So how about the joystick setup in DCS World ? Well it's very limited.... Hooking up joysticks to your 2e device does not work as such to be used on the main PC. The controllers are limited to the function of the streamingsoftware(from Valve) and the available axis and buttons being used by it. Configuring Well you need to re-configure your joysticksetup with the controllers hooked up on your 2e device in the steam programfunction ''Big Picture-modus''. You find that easily with that little gamepad icon top-right in the steamgui. There is a controller setup possible, so you can map every button available from it. About 10? buttons and about 4 complete and 2 typical ''xbox 360'' half axis (those 2 are possible to use as a slider+half saturated in DCS) on your joystick. After this is done. Start streaming DCS World and setup your new 'Valve' controllermappings in the controller-options menu from DCS for your aircraft. It's limited but really usable as primary controls. Have fun !!! (Or just stick playing on the main PC while streaming the image and sound over the network for cinematic purposes )

Great you got it. You can add a videoplayer program to your steamlibrary with that and watch a movie on a tablet with streaming. Anyway I did some testing, and I think I write a little easy tutorial. Here it is

Thinking of upgrading video card... any suggestions?
Cnuke replied to Charly_Owl's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you wait for the release EDGE it all makes more sense to see what you gain and what others have for results. From an economic point of view It's pretty much possible to tweak your DCS and have less towns visible from far, replace some models and less high amount of textures loaded, to sit out the waiting time for EDGE with reasonable FPS. Also your CPU clockspeed and related performance, memoryspeed and timings are of influence. I clocked my 920 cpu to 3.7 permanently without much heat and voltage increase. But with my 5850 AMD card I can pretty much do 60 FPS most of the time, except some big towns decrease it to 40 with planes around. Although I use the resolution 1280x1024 from my 17" inch screen. The AMD card is 1Gb RAM , one fulll GB RAM :) lolz I sometimes hook it up to 1920x1080 LCD screen and frames drop to 45 (still not bad) :) Well, the prices will change I think, for the GTX 970 , 980 maybe over the coming period of 1-3 months. The 970 RAM issue surely will set something in motion, and AMD is also pushing competitiveness now. We will see. :) -
Thanks for posting about it! I gave it a try as well with an ancient laptop. One that I need to revive every couple of months by taking out the 9500m graphiccard and bake it in the oven for 8-10 minutes. ;D (nvidia bumpgate) I used my current DCS WORLD beta installation from ED (outside steam). By using the option to add the executable from a non-steamgame to the steamlibrary. I had some issues getting the controls correctly setup, as for example I had to restart DCS on the main pc to get back all the controls for all the modules back as all things appeared to be gone. And then another restart, but then launched from the laptop with the streamfunction. Then there appeared a new Valve joystick control column added to the controlsmenu. I used an xbox 360 pad on the laptop. It's impressive that it works easily without issues. A small bit of lag while flying but not so problematic as you might expect. Really impressed as well. Funny stuff :)

Sorry to hear mate :-( If you think about the activations for DCS modules, it might work to deactivate them in a separate windows install. As I lost my SSD last year  and my speedy DCS with it. I did a trick. A bit advanced stuff (AND risky if you don't know what to do), but basically it comes to the fact that you can copy/import registry entries from your old disk/windows-install to your new install (I can't say anything about going from win7 to registry of windows 8, I only have win7 and did it with win7 to win7). And then use the de-activation tool per module from the /bin dir. After it is copied in your registry , you can directly de-activate the modules one by one. (I used the old dcs world/seperate module installs without the module-manager). Anyway it's not so important at all with the activations of DCS, it's an idea. Might be able to save some programs from the old disk as well. Just go through your data. As long you have a new but good & stable PC platform to use. Goodluck ! -
