  1. Hello ED,

I am hoping everyone is safe during these troubled time!

First and foremost I love the Normandy, and Channel terrains and all associated with WWII flying. I do have a concern that is troubling.

I have been re-creating D-Day and all missions that occurred during D-Day. I have down sized the amount of aircraft etc, as it is just system overload. However, last night my group ran the STUD mission, the mid-day mission from D-Day. I had only 227 objects which included 74 B-17 Bombers which were to carpet bomb Caen. When the bombing occurred the FPS dropped to below 12 FPS and one of our members was actually kicked out of the multiplayer session.

This is concerning as it poses great restrictions on the detail you can design into the mission. However, my greater question is I have seen some mission that are shared out of user documents that contain close to 1000 objects, do these also have issues?

We were using a very fast server, ping rate of approx. 65 ms but we are still seeing these issues?

I welcome any suggestions or comments.

    Cheers

  2. Hello Everyone!

I am experiencing intermittent stutters as I verify the quality of the missions I am developing in Normandy.

I have B-17s approaching the Normandy Coast to bomb StrongPoints developed using Coastal Batteries. I have the pre-developed Defensive Positions occupied by 38's only nothing higher so no Flak. Once the B-17s are about to Carpet Bomb targets FPS drops from approx. 70 - 80 to 25 and then anything further I am seeing a drop from approx. 65 FPS every couple of seconds to 20 FPS even when the B-17s are just flying.

I have approx. 50 B-17s attacking every 5 min so there is not a continous dropping of bombs, however the stutters continue and the drop is significantly visual.

To this point I have dropped the settings of my system, I am now just using "HIGH" system settings, nothing significant. I also moved my DCS system from a completely separate SSD (Samsung 850) to my main drive an Intel 1TB SSD drive. No change. I have turned of track recording. No change

    My System:

    AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core 3.9GHz

    AMD Radeon RX5700XT 8GB

    32GB RAM

    Intel SSD 1TB (Main Drive)

    (2) Samsung 850 500GB

    36" Samsung Monitor 2560x1440

I attached my DCS settings pic.

I really would like to understand what is causing this issue as I am not experiencing this issue using any other DCS maps.

Many Thanks to all who can assist

  3. I hope everyone is SAFE!

    I have a question regarding B-17G doing WW2 Bombing Missions;

I have multiple groups of B-17G flying from England to Bomb Caen, continue to WP01 (south of Caen) make a right, and egress west. However, once the bombers complete carpeting bombing they do a 180° turn and head back to England?

    See picture, any ideas?

    Thanks

  4. Team!

I LOVE the map and detail that has gone into the map. I have one small issue and that is the sun is up on June 6 at like 4am which is inaccurate. I have the Sunrise & Sunset table for June here.

This really makes it hard to "re-create" actual events. Would it be possible to have this updated?

    Many Thanks

  5. Hello Everyone,

I hope all vPilots and there families are safe during this rough time in the world.

My question: is there a way that we can script (or alter script) so that some Client Aircraft have unlimited weapons and others don't in multiplayer?

    Many Thanks

  6. Our group has been experiencing periodic uncontrolled porpoising at speeds above 380 knots descending from high altitudes. We checked Pitot heat etc, with no joy. Also, at the same time we will lose both analog and digital speed readings.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  7. Good Day,

Our group is flying A/A missions for BVR training and our Datalink is only active for some flights. Further to this we found it is based number aircraft in a flight; if we have an flight and element in same group the Datalink doesn't work, if we have the flight and element in separate groups and then fly together it works?

    Appreciate any assistance or explaination.......

  8. Wakes

Wakes are proportional to ships speed, size, and very importantly sea state. Turn a carrier into the wind with 3 to 6 ft swells you will get a good break off the bow. Also, calm sea ship at 0 to 15 kts will start a wake around midships, increase speed the wake start farther forward.

  9. FPS - Possible Solutions

    Hello Everyone,

    I am an avid Mission Developer, and most of my new mission development has been in reproducing today's situation in the Persian Gulf and I too have noticed the following graphical & FPS issues;

    1. Random Micro-Stutters tuch detailhat have NO effect on FPS but is visually annoying,

    2. Serious FPS drop close to the ground - especially around the red sands in South UAE and Iran around Lars, and around the buildings and Airfields with much detail

First of all the DCS team has done an AMAZING job at reproducing the textures and layout of the the Persian Gulf, done for most what we have been requesting for years.

    That being said I have done many hours of reading and testing to find ways to change my settings to overcome these issues and I feel I have found possible solutions that we (consumers) should try;

    1. All SSD users should match their RAM using "Page File" which turns your unused Hard drive space as additional RAM, information on methods are on Tom's Hardware website, just search Page File,

    2. STOP using DCS to control your graphical settings i.e.; MSAA and Anti-Alaising, zero all of these settings and open NVDIA and use your 3D settings to set these settings, and

    3. Zero your Clutter and Grass & Tree Visibility to 30%, and

    4. Drop your visual radius from 60% to 50%, and turn off VSync

You will see an amazing increase in Frame Rates and the micro-stutters although still there are smoothed over.....

I believe that we as users have some responsiblity to work together to help each other get the best out of what DCS develops.

    Ozzy

feel free to pass on any additional information and comments to my theories!

  10. Work Arounds

We should not have to be finding work arounds for an issue that has been ongoing for such a long duration. As an avid Mission designer, it is a real pain for developing realistic missions. Reality is I should be able to have both AI and client players flying off the carrier for missions.

Further to this issue I am continually getting a collisions from AI aircraft placed in parking spots, esppecially F-14B. I am attaching a diagram of actual parking spots on an US Aircraft Carrier which does not match what ME has available?

I do respect the fact that you are swamped and your work is truly amazing, but reading back through this thread I noticed one person found a simple work around by changing the mission fil, however many mission creators do not know or understand how to do that......

    Thanks Guys

  11. Happening to me ALOT lately

It appears to almost go completely black and then back to normal; also been getting unknown pauses when flying missions..........simple missions and it will do like a 2 sec pause and then normal; it will go on throughout the mission.

  12. We run our missions using a dedicated server, I just develop the missions. My missions are maybe 300 objects, I have seen people use up to 5000 objects in their MP missions why the issues?
