Ok. I believe you all. I’m delighted I love the Hellcat, one was of my favourite aeroplanes as a kid and I made many Hellcat model kits. Bob modules will be a dream as well. I really want an early war spit and a hurricane. It’s all coming together nicely

Might not be a bug but it really frustrates me. Why is it that sometimes I load flights in VR DCS MT and my fps are erratic and cpu load in red. Then I clear my metashaders and fxo folders and the sim runs beautifully smooth again. Dcs MT takes an age to load as it is. So when it does it I have to close down dcs go through the process and then load it again. Would it not be an idea to have it written in code to clear these folders upon the game launch? I don’t run any mods just for clarification.

DCS: F-14A & B - Excessive shimmering in Cockpit
westr replied to Schmidtfire's topic in Bugs and Problems
I’m guessing a mod to eliminate this detail around the fine edges would be a lot of work? Something that would be more pleasant for VR -
Didn’t Belsimtek look into creating the F15C years ago? because I seem to remember they were responsible for creating the AFM for the FC3 version we have now. I do feel with the modules maps and ai we have the F15C should be a module ED look into. Feels like a void in the sim without it as a full fidelity module.

DCS: F-14A & B - Excessive shimmering in Cockpit

What/where is Mip bias in the NV control panel please. I know what Nvidia control panel is but can’t find it. -
There is definitely a discrepancy between the F15E and other fast jets. Just tried a quick takeoff from Akrotiri, Syria map in the AV8 Harrier, and maintained a solid 45FPS no CPU bound judders same for the F16 and F18. I Fly exactly the same mission in the F15E and its arguably unplayable. Yet I can fly the F15E on the Caucasus and PG maps with a solid 45fps and no stutters and very smooth and that includes the areas of dense forests or buildings. I run MT DCS in VR with no mods. Not a criticism I know its very early days for the Eagle, and I love it, im a big fan of Razbams work. But I would like them to look into this. I would also like to point out that the South Atlantic map is not running well in VR at low altitudes even after the latest update. That's the same with all modules I fly.

I’ve spend such a long time perfecting my VR settings to the point where I have the scenery flashing past me when looking to the left or right and it’s smooth as silk not a hint of a stutter when looking at the buildings. Delighted with it on the Caucasus map, the Persian Gulf Map, the Channel map, and the Normandy 2.0 map. I had to remove all my mods, repaired dcs open beta, removed reshade after much deliberation because I love the effects of reshade but it was necessary and I got DCS running better than ever. I have my settings such that I don’t see trees growing in front of me, but still don’t drop below 45fps and very very rarely get the red CPU bound that I found causes the stutters. I use MT version of DCS mainly because I found the clouds in MT version in VR look much better. Also because I have found settings that seem to work with it. I’d like to point out that I set steam VR to use its own version of open XR runtime. And I have motion vector set in my steam VR settings. I found very little difference between this and auto, but found motion vector along with motion smoothing enabled worked really well for my setup. So getting onto my point, I decided to purchase the Sinai map, and I guess perfecting my settings will have to start over again . Funnily enough I’ve been flying loads in the F15E recently and In Caucasus or the PG it runs beautifully, I try it in Sinai and get all these wobbly stutters around the built up areas. Tried another repair tried erasing fxo and metashaders folders, still the same. Tried the F16 and it was completely different buildings flashing past me smooth, at least I have something to work with there, although I only tried it once and need to give it a more thorough examination. So at the moment I’m finding the F15E doesn’t seem to get along with the Sinai map so well, might try playing with some settings tomorrow and maybe reduce my visible range. It’s all very frustrating, you find one module works really well in one map with certain settings and then not well on another. I guess both are in their development stages and I need to be patient. One thing I can say though is that it doesn’t matter what module I try in the South Atlantic map, if I fly over the built up areas it’s awful in VR, and that is a disappointment as I just don’t use the map. I would like to but I just can’t get anywhere with it.

MT - VR Motion Reprojection less smooth using MT
westr replied to Baldrick33's topic in Multi-Threading Bug Reports (Temp)
Thankyou for explaining. So just to confirm if I enable this in steam VR settings as you’ve described I should be able to run MT version with steam vr? I find the motion smoothing etc better with steam VR. -
It’s very very good. I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how good this module has been out the box. Loads of great features that we have had to wait quite some time for after release in the past. Runs well I’ve found in VR. FM feels good. The way it rotates at take off feels realistic. I’m really enjoying it. only criticism I’ve found so far is the rendering in the mirrors seems to lag even though I’m maintaining smooth fps. But I’ve just been disabling mirrors as they still look quite good disabled. overall really loving this.

MT - VR Motion Reprojection less smooth using MT
westr replied to Baldrick33's topic in Multi-Threading Bug Reports (Temp)
Could you explain how I can revert back to steam VR? I have somehow forced Open XR everytime i run DCS MT. And i've checked my shortcut, im not forcing it via the target. I cant work it out. -
Yes sorry you are right, I have bought so many DCS maps I forget which ones i've paid for
-
Just about to not bother with this then I read your view.^^ I’m torn, but overall what I’m reading is not very positive from a VR perspective. I’m tired of buying maps and not using them though, Persian Gulf, Caucasus and the Channel work well for me. Urga maps are playable but with the growing tree issue in VR I have to set those maps to high visible range which hits performance and I prefer other maps. And For me Marianas was just a waste of money. And South Atlantic stutters badly over populated areas. could somebody advise, does this map have the growing tree issue like the Urga media maps in VR where you see the trees and buildings grow as you fly along?

Sorry probably didn't make things clear. I'm desperately trying to get rid of open XR and want to go back to using steam VR for DCS but nothing I seem to do accomplishes this. I have deleted OpenXR numerous times, It just comes back when I run DCS, Steam VR shuts down but DCS just runs on Open XR. I've just tried removing Mixed reality and steam VR and reinstalling but i'm still having the same thing, can anyone advise.
-
Ive tried open XR, getting lots of warping when I use motion reprojection frustratingly because it is running quite smoothly. I've deleted everything and repaired dcs world (full repair) as I want to revert to steam VR. But SteamVR no longer runs with DCS. Just shuts down when DCS launches and Open XR is still running. I only use the multithreading version of DCS now. Does anyone know how i can fix this? thanks
-
Interesting thanks for sharing I shall try this.

to reduce how much you notice the buildings growing setting your visible range to high makes a difference, but obviously this impacts performance. It seems strange that the difference between standard and MT version is so significant in terms of performance. Maybe they can improve this.
-
not great performance in VR for me and I have a decent PC, got it for only $9 so not too annoyed and was half expecting it anyway. Over time the performance may improve, I tend to find that with these maps. (Performance is better in standard version and not MT version) I am disappointed with the growing buildings as you fly along, exactly the same as the Syria map in VR. This does not happen on the channel map. Intel Core i9 11900K 64GB DDR4 RAM RTX 3080 HP Reverb G2

this should be fixed by now, i'm not suggesting its an easy fix but I feel it is something that should have been addressed by now!

there appears to be an issue with the image on the TCS when using the multithreading dcs.exe, when running the other DCS.exe (non multithreading) the image in the TCS is fine and target can be seen. In Mulththreading the screen is black and if you adjust the VDI you still cant see an image. Doing some searching this issue is discussed on Reddit. The advice given was to reduce Res of displays, or turn off MSAA. Neither of these options has worked for me. Could this be looked into.

DCS: F-14A & B - Excessive shimmering in Cockpit
westr replied to Schmidtfire's topic in Bugs and Problems
I find this issue very prominent in VR with the F14 compared to other modules, does anyone feel there is a cockpit mod that improves this issue for the Tomcat in VR? -
does anyone know if its possible to mod and add the BL755 cluster bomb to the harrier weapons inventory?
-
When will it get one again ? 1st person?

Can’t seem to find this already reported forgive me if it is. I find the new clouds in VR disappointing. I can definitely see their potential, the lighting and effects look amazing. But I still find they wobble in VR and the aliasing is really poor and doesn’t seem to be up keeping especially when compared to the ground textures which have really taken massive steps forward in VR in terms of getting decent performance whilst having good quality. If I set clouds to high or ultra it improves but the impact on performance is massive and I have to put them back to standard. Could developers look into improving this for VR users a little?
