I’ve just run the first few missions of an A-10 campaign that I wrote for v1.02 on my newly downloaded FC 1.11 and I’m impressed by the improvements that have be made to the sim, although I will have to tweak the Su-25 load-out (but not a vital part of the missions) . The additional static objects are a good idea. If you haven’t taken a shot at the ammo dump give it a go in mission editor. 10/10 for ED’s modelling, scenery, skins, etc. If you want to try the campaign the link below will take you to the web page http://www.the-eighth-art.com/A10OC.htm To make any changes to suit you own requirements, classify with Ctrl+SHIFT+C choose a password then declassify with Ctrl+SHFT+D and type in your chosen password again. There are some SA-16s hidden around the battlefield but if want to have a fair chance of spotting them just select LABELS. You will need to select CIVILIAN TRAFFIC – ON for the locomotive busting mission. At the very start of Mission 2 a truck drove into one of the A-10s fins and exploded (no damage done to the aircraft though) which never happened when I ran it in v1.02. Weird. Happy Holidays, DPS.

Success!! It took 10 hrs on my 2.2Mbps connection (don't think it's ever actually ever been that fast) although d/l did speed up at around 23:00 GMT. Patched to 1.11 from the mirror at the top of the list; ten times faster and of course only took a matter of minutes. No corupted files either. With the benefit of hindsight buying the CD might have been the better bet. I've had CDs from the likes of simware in three of four working days. Thanks for the offer Scotsman. I've just had a wizz around in the A-10 (have those skins been improved?) and I must say I like what I seen so far.

Oh no, I was affraid of that. Can't afford to spend too much time fixing/sorting d/l problems. Might have to EJECT and let ED keep the $14.95 as a donation - Lock On 1.02 was a bargain anyway. Are the CDs all working now? If they are I might go down that route - or go back to v1.02 and wait for Black Sheep (or whatever it is called) in the hope that the act of putting the sim on my machine is as easy as F4AF.

I've finally got around to downloading FC. Just 12 Hrs 50 min to go!! Can that be right? Are there any faster DL servers out there? Any tips on achieving a troublefree install? DPS
