  1. IMHO your main problem with performance is highlighted in red above. Maxing out your settings is begging for poor performance. You need to balance graphics settings with good performance in mind regardless of how strong a rig you have. This is a complex combat sim and it is very cpu intensive. Have reasonable expectations and you should not be disappointed with the performance of DCSW. It is visually impressive with even modest to midrange graphics settings. Best of luck ~Out
  2. Unfortunately yes IMHO you made a big mistake. There is no comparison between these two products. It is like comparing a TrackIR to a coolie hat for views. The TFS3 holds the FFB effects championship title for DCSW and many other titles. A BK is a subwoofer driver driven by sound. A TFS3 is a true FFB device using information from the sim in much the same way a FFB stick does. It has six discrete high grade FFB actuators in separate zones under the legs and in the back of the seat. The zones are also expandable. Effects are modeled in layers and are completely customizable although the default files provided for most of the DCSW Modules are excellent to begin with. Whatever you are doing with in the sim from spooling the engines to touchdown, from firing the guns to lowering/raising gear/flaps/speed brake, it is ALL felt in the seat. These effects also include simulated G which is to say that when you pull the stick in a fast jet to climb you feel the vibes move from under your legs smoothly up your back, pulling negative G yields the opposite effect. Rolling the AC moves the vibe sensation left or right in the seat according to how much stick you apply etc. A BK can not do this at all. No comparison. Out
  3. IMHO Windows 8 x64 runs DCS and everything else I have thrown at it very, very well. After months of using it I can honestly say it is every bit as stable as Windows 7 (perhaps even more so) with the extra new bits like the Metro screen and Charms bar thrown in for good measure. Using Classic Shell or a similar utility allows you to use the OS from the desktop just like Windows 7 while your exploring and experimenting with the newer interfaces. I have found absolutely no good reason not to opt for Windows 8 if given the choice. It performs very well as a home entertainment gaming platform and a business workstation in a workgroup or domain environment and I have used it extensively in these scenarios. I am not sorry at all to have moved form Windows 7 to Windows 8. It has been a positive move in all respects. Out
  4. Seems like hardware mate...hardware. Check my earlier post. Best of luck. Out
  5. Could be a virus (check for viruses with multiple scanners) or a hardware issue. Heat related possible, bad or failing CPU fan (Check CPU fan). Maybe a bad or failing power supply. Test or try another. (Check PSU fan as well. Make sure it is turning). Bad or failing memory. Test with Memtest. Out
  6. Try this: Elevator_trim_up = /PUSB(DE4 D37) /RUSB(U37 UE4)Rem 'RCTL .' Elevator_trim_down = /PUSB(DE4 D33) /RUSB(U33 UE4)Rem 'RCTL ;' Aileron_trim_left = /PUSB(DE4 D36) /RUSB(U36 UE4)Rem 'RCTL ,' Aileron_trim_right = /PUSB(DE4 D38) /RUSB(U38 UE4)Rem 'RCTL /' Rudder_trim_left = /PKD(LCTL z) /RKU(z LCTL)Rem 'CTL z' Rudder_trim_right = /PKD(LCTL x) /RKU(x LCTL)Rem 'CTL x' Cancel_Trim_Settings = <CTL t> Hope it helps.. 7. Light source behind you maybe? Check the camera window that shows the 3 dots. Look for any other dots that are not the hat or track clip. If there are others it maybe light from behind. Also this can happen if you turn you head so far to one side that one of the dots from the clip go out of view of the camera. The solution for this is to tweak the file so that you can move your head less side to side and still get full pan. Good luck. Out
  8. Well I have not really been missing out. By "revisiting" I only meant in the latest build of DCSW. I have owned the device for years and was one of the very first to get the TFS3 upgrade AFAIK. I have been endorsing the TFS2/3 and using mine for a lot longer then most. :) Out
  9. Michael, Thank you for your responses. I can't afford much but I will make a donation to your project on kickstarter.com. I watched the video posted here I was very impressed with Rogue System and your vision for it, as well as your personal story. Well done. You should be very proud. I am going to post a link to your kickstarter page over at the 104th Phoenix website forums and ask members of our DCS squadron to pitch in. Best of luck and keep the faith! ~Paul
  10. I do like the old space games like X-Wing vs Tie Fighter etc. One thing I really dislike with the newer space sims is the Newtonian physics designs. I am quite certain realistic flight modeling for space sims is much more accurate. It just also happens to be a lot less fun IMHO. This has turned me off from several space fighter games since the old days of Star lancer and the Star wars games. I like that type of unrealistic flight model much better for space fighter games. For this reason I am on the fence about this sim. I love every other aspect of it but that. Out
  11. I just revisited and tested the TFS3 in DCSW in all flyable AC. In a word it works excellent! You can feel everything, the guns, the flaps, the speed brake etc. And that is before tweaking the parameters. It is much better than any shaker. Anyone that does not recognize the absolute coolness and uniqueness of this device has either not used it or doesn't know how to. All problems with getting it off the ground aside the Ivibe TFS3 is the best thing since a HOTAS and TIR. Out
  12. Check Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> "Sound". (Category view) or Control Panel>"Sound" (Icon view) Make sure the default device selected for playback is your USB headset. If it is not, select it and set it as default. Hope this is helpful. Out
  13. New info on setting up the TFS3 in 1.2.3 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1692130&postcount=16 Out
  14. The TFS3 is currently missing rotor modeling for the Black Shark. This would of course be the main vibe that you would need working to be satisfied with it. As I understand it, it will be added eventually. Admittedly this is one of very few weak spots for the TFS3 in DCS world right now. The rest is coming along well. Hope to see it added soon. Keep the faith! Out
  15. Thanks for the update Rob. Looking forward to using the TFS3 again. Out
  16. Audiosense with the TFS3 is no better solution then using a ButtKicker IMHO. It is everything else about the TFS3 that makes it better than using speaker drivers for vibes. Using sound to drive this device is using it far below even it's current potential. It works pretty good with DCS world already and Craig has promised some videos on tweaking AC parameters very soon. The rotor modeling for the KA-50 vibes are still missing but there are a boatload of other parameters that can be tweaked at will for all the other AC and very little is missing there AFAIK. It is also incorrect to state that the ivibe TFS3 is designed mainly for racing sims. It is every bit a flight simulation device as well, perhaps even more so. I will check with Craig on how to enable vibes in the latest version of DCSW. Yes it has been a real slog and rough going for the Ivibe TFS3 but there is simply nothing else like it. ~Out
  17. Love the concept and performance of the clip, hate the construction. Worst flimsy build quality ever. A shame for a good company like NP to release such a POS as this. I use them but they are always breaking. Out
  18. How can I answer you best....hmmmm...errrrrrr. YES! Get TrackIr. Out
  19. Actually many of the tiles work just fine without using a Windows live account. Some of course require it. This is because technically a restart is a cold boot under Windows 8. A shut down and start up is a hibernate mode called "Fast Start", this is what allows for the faster start up times. "Fast start" is a feature that can be turned off if needed/desired under "Power options" left pane under "Choose what the power buttons do" in the "shutdown settings" section. "Fast startup is a setting that helps your PC start up faster after shutdown. Windows does this by saving system info to a file upon shutdown. When you start your PC again, Windows uses that system info to resume your PC instead of restarting it. Notes The fast startup setting doesn’t apply to Restart. You need to shut down and then start your PC again for fast startup to take effect. Fast startup is turned on by default in Windows." All in all as you say a great OS. I have had even less issues with Windows 8 then I had with Windows 7. That's right, day to day stability with this OS is even better than my experience with Windows 7. Quite a well designed smoothly running OS. Out
  20. I am going to grab them anyway. I like the using the latest version possible as long as it fixes something and doesn't break something else..;) Thanks Mustang! Out
