  1. Thanks for the heads up. Going to try and make this one as well. Out
  2. I own and have used both VAC and Voice Attack. I believe that they are both good but Voice attack is the superior software. It is capable of so much more than VAC. I use it with Elite Dangerous and it is simply amazing. Out
  3. Welcome and all the best from the 104th! The more virtual squadrons flying DCS the better. Out
  4. I would also love to have the Mig and free is great so I thought I would post up. Out

  6. Nice work Chris! Well deserved. Congratulations! Out
  7. If I remember correctly there is a pin with a small clip on one end to hold it through the shaft. You carefully remove this clip using a flathead screwdriver (Careful as it could fly away. Hold it with finger while removing) and then you should be able to gently hammer out the pin using something small and thin enough (a small nail perhaps) and a hammer. I will try to find more info on this and post. Out
  8. Probably, I am finding Windows 8.1 better then Windows 7 and more popular now so I would expect that the next OS will be more popular then the last. My customers and I would strongly disagree.. Ever heard of classic shell or the countless other free utilities that already provide this feature? Wow you can tell the future too. I think once again you are incorrect. Not so fast. All six of my machines ARE unique hardware and my experience through the numerous upgrades and installs on my clients' machines have all gone smoothly. I have installed and upgraded at least a dozen machines (probably closer to twenty)in addition to my own, and my considerable experience contradicts your single experience. How many machines have you installed Windows 8/8.1on? Are you a qualified technician certified in the fields of hardware, software and networking? Maybe this answers my last question. Out
  9. I have upgraded all six of my machines from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1. Not a problem to be found. All went perfectly smoothly. It turns out that this Operating System is also working just fine in multiple domain environments which I mange as well. Most of the perceived problems with this OS can be explained by people's natural resistance to change combined with not understanding that you can easily set up Windows 8/8.1. to look feel and function much the same as it's predecessor Windows 7. Boot directly to the desktop, use a start menu etc. I have found that 99% of the complaints about this OS overblown and unfounded. It is a very reliable and feature rich Operating system which has clearly improved upon Windows 7 in many areas. Heard much the same noise when people were first transitioning from XP to Windows 7 as well. "Keep your hands of my Windows XP" they cried! Look at us now eh? Here we go again.........:megalol: Out
  10. This has been solved for quite some time now. The solution is posted elsewhere on these forums. Have a look here....... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115816&highlight=Cougar+MFD+windows&page=3 Post number 27 has the fix for this problem. Out
  11. Windows 8.1 runs great. I moved from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8 x64 and I never looked back. Now I have the best of both worlds. All of my apps and games run as good or better on the newer OS. "Change has no constituents". Out
  12. Two things buddy. Great work! & You Bastard! (Anyone would be jealous and I am no exception) Just kidding, as always fantastic work my friend. Keep it up. I always look forward to reading about and seeing the pics of your pit builds. ~PoleCat
  13. AFAIK Under Windows 8.1 you will need to do the work around listed earlier in this thread for the MFD's to install properly at all. My MFDs were tried connected to both 2.0 and 3.0 ports and failed to install connected to either until the workaround. Out
  14. Respectfully, the person that thought this probably envisioned that the OS would be used on multiple platforms as it is. It is touch enabled so obviously you need multiple methods of accessing the menus. Also you do not need to do anything except install classic shell for your start menu when using a PC, laptop or non touch device. Apps launch just as fast for me under Windows 8/8.1 as they did under Windows 7 when using classic shell. It's a new world, multiple devices etc...It is no longer just a desktop PC world. This should be obvious to everyone but the criminally insane. :music_whistling: Out
  15. I could not disagree more. The same sort of rhetoric was prevalent when users were switching to Windows 7 from Windows XP and before that from Windows 98 to Windows XP. Windows 8.1 is the next obvious step in computing and I find it to be more reliable then Windows 7. It runs everything I ran on Windows 7 just as well and in some cases better. I set it up so it behaves and appears much like windows 7. I boot directly to the desktop where I have a start menu that I use to launch any program I want just like Windows 7. Having more options does not mean you have to use them. I have been recommending and installing Windows 8.1 for my customers who are buying business workstations for both peer to peer and domain environments as well as gaming machines for home use and they seem surprised that with so little initial effort how easily you can have all the options available in the new OS while maintaining the look and feel of the former. There are options and applications for use in Windows 8.1 that go well beyond Windows 7 capabilities, plain and simple. And yes that means more resources are used for these options and applications just like every OS before it. Services can be controlled just like under Windows 7. Any one reading this thread I would suggest you try Windows 8.1, and really work with it before passing judgment. It is in fact a fine operating system that has some substantial improvements over its predecessor. "Change has no constituents". Out
  16. Been using 8.1 and 8.0 before that. With all due respect, there are numerous programs that give you back the start menu under 8.1. Classic shell is one of them. Functionality can easily be almost identical to Windows 7 for the average user with very little effort. IMHO 8.1 is a better all around OS then 7. It's time. Out
  17. Yes mate it has been a while. The 104th is still going strong although Manawar and myself are for now, exclusively maintaining the infrastructure for the squad. At the moment neither of us have the time to fly. We do remain hopeful that we will have some free time in the future so we can participate more fully. At the moment Mustang, Maverick and Riptide are at the helm of the 104th so the squad is in good hands. :) Be well. ~Paul
  18. Target, just as Foxy before it, gives the user a plethora of programming possibilities both simple and advanced which are far more elaborate and varied then using your Warthog/Cougar without the software. ~Out
  19. Start here....http://cubpilotshangar.net/page105.html It should help. Out
  20. Truer words were never spoken. Couldn't agree more. The TIR concept and camera are exceptional while the Track clip pro is absolutely an inferior design. The question is given a little time and normal movement while gaming who wouldn't inadvertently break one of these? A fall apart snap together design is a great idea as long as it works. Here it doesn't and most of the time something breaks. So the plastic shell breaks easy and that weakness renders the clip useless without repair or modification. All the repairs I have seen look pretty ugly as well. Hope they make a newer better one or perhaps just build it into a hat. Out
  21. Since I have these X-fi cards and they work fine with the PAX drivers I see no reason to change to the onboard sound or purchase an alternate brand. These X-fi Cards were a good investment considering they were purchased back in the XP days and I am still using them years later under Windows 8.1. Solid. Out
  22. PAX Drivers have put an end to problems with creative drivers and Windows 7 or Windows 8. I have been using these drivers with several models of PCI and PCI-E X-fi cards for a long time and have had no issues since switching to these instead of using the official driver packages. The PAX drivers are re bundled and tweaked official drivers that seem to install much more smoothly. Check them out here. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/pax-drivers/ Out
  23. OT Just a quick comment to Activision and Origin on both the PC versions of BF4 and COD ghosts. The thing I dislike the most is the cut scenes. If I wanted to watch a movie I would have bought or rented one instead. These ported console games all seem to fail in this way. The FPS is fast and furious and gameplay is solid with great graphics and animations and a pretty good responsive feel (at an arcade level)and then you interrupt it and ruin it so you can show us what? That you are trying to direct a movie within the game? Well sorry but you stink at it...always. I am not drawn in but put off. If it has to be there keep it simple and quick. Give us much more of the gameplay and much less of the "story". You are great at making fun lightweight FPS but you suck at making movies. Out
