  1. i would think so, but i have learned not to just assume
  2. in today's news (http://bit.ly/2kVgISa), its mentioned that the Spit will have the option for the clipped wings which as i have read gave it an improved roll rate and a higher speed at low altitudes. so i wanted to ask, are the clipped wings just a cosmetic change, or will we see the changes to the flight model to go along with them?
  3. Switch to OvGME as notes in my post reight before yours. It uas support for mutiple versions/instances. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  4. the CV and GND are just where the alignment is taking place from the CV align is notably shorter from what i gather as its taking INS alignment data from the actual carrier, vs doing it all on its own on the GND so the CV alignment will go faster but in either case you start with CV or CNG then go to NAV before you start moving
  5. i am not sure it can be done on the center MFPD right now, there are some things still being worked on to allow you to change the brightness in the future. for right now though, you can enable the HSI on the right or left DDI and it will show the HSI with no map
  6. if you enable the HSI on the right or left DDI it will show without the map, that will let you see the text clearly, as i had the same problem, i cant see/read the text on the center MFPD without zooming way in on it which is not really possible in flight
  7. ED has already been committed to providing a server version of the dcs engine. It also would likely be the easiest to just let tme do what they were planning with a free server exe. They are building theit sales model around selling module, map, campaign DLC to each person that wants. A major change would just delay stuff, just let them do what a majority of the community has asked for, then request new stuff or whatever. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  8. so i see there is a 'known issues' with not being able to turn down the brightness, i am not sure if this is the brightness of the map, or the hsi/ddi sympology. My question is about readability, with the moving map on its VERY hard to actually read the green text over it. i don't recall any such issues with the A-10 moving map (TAD page). is this readability issues part of this reported issues? is it reflective of real life (working as intended)? or is it another issue all together?
  9. 2k i think, but i will double check tomorrow. My monitor is 4k, so it its set to 2k as i think, i will try at 4k to see if that causes a dramatic change Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  10. Ok gotcha, well for me i uave been getting really good frames 60+ on persian, caucuses, and nevada maps I have and fx8350 cpu 16gb ddr3 ram and gtx 1080 gpu Cpu and ram are pretty old (relatively speaking) but gpu is good Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  11. i am not sure if you are reporting an overall low FPS or an occasional drop. i get a very good ~60+ FPS but when in flight if my mirrors are enabled it will drop fairly frequently down to 15-25 or so.. if i disable the mirrors (even in flight) the drop occasional fps drop stops happening.
  12. yea, they are almost always inverted, even in other flight sims its the same, when i assign toe brakes i always have to check cause its very common to have to invert
  13. i have tried messing with this and it seems that on the warthog throttle, the buttons 29 and 30 are actually 'pressed/triggered' when the throttle is brought over the detent and put in cut off. so if you assign the "idle/off" action, or the "idle" to buttons 29 and 30, in order to move the throttle into idle during a start up, you have to actually put it into the cutoff position to trigger the button then back out and it will be in idle and ready to use. i know in the A-10 module, you can start the sim with the throttles all the way back in cut-off state, and when they are moves to idle the throttle int he sim will move to idle.. other than the way described above, i cant seem to get the hornet to do the same thing, only triggering button 29/30 by putting it into cutton off then back out. If there is another way please help me understand by clarifying which action to assign to which button
  14. 2.1GB is same here YAY i get to add a new icon to my signature!
  15. 47 peers, download rate varying from 1.5MB/s to 6.5 MB/s im glad its the proper thing, i will just let it run and hopefully it will be done soon.. YAY
  16. check the autoupdate.cfg after you have started the manual process you will see that it shows version 2.5.1 so you can check yourself and dont have to take anyones word on it
  17. The F5 is a good choice, and while you are looking at the videos Bunyap did on the F5 check his stuff, he has done a number of them on the A-10C. until the hornet is released, the A-10C is the most advance aircraft in DCS, and while its pretty much only A2G, it can delivery a lot of munitions and pretty much almost any type.. that and the price on it is going up a notable amount, i think at the end of the month.. DCS is raising the prices on a few of their slightly older modules. so if you have an interest maybe for in a few months, use the bonus point money from the modules you have bought already and jump for the A-10C. If you have more interest in the harrier, at least you can safely wait as the price on that isn't going to go up anytime soon. but its still in early access and still a lot pending with that one. All that, i hope you find the F5 fun, take notes during the youtube videos, print out check lists, and use you phone or tablet if you have one to help you with extra PDF/documents for when you are trying to learn and fly.
  18. Yea for A2G the harrier will be great, but its still going through the end of the dev process, not everything is fully working and their are still lityle bugs here and there but its still a really good module that will be great. The A-10C is the most mature A2G module with the most o line materials and videos, and in my opinion its the easiest to just get going, however the module models the aircraft to such a degree that while you may be able to take off and start blowing up targets on day 1 (or 2) it could take you months (or more) to fully learn all the systems and all of the advanced stuff that can be done. The F5 is also a good choice but it has a bit older or less advanced systems. This is not a bad thing, its just a thing. So depending on what you want, those are some options. The harrier amd A-10 dont really do A2A (well only defensively, in a pinch) but the F5 can do both A2A and A2G. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  19. You have to switch to OvGME, the 64bit version. Because the latest version of DCS:W has individual files larger than 4GB, the 32bit JSGME cannot perform a file snapshot which something want from a mod manager. Besides, OvGME is very easy and its being actively maintained. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  20. im glad others find it as interesting as me.. i swear when i first saw it, it was like i was looking directly at the DCS map.. it was uncanny.. Anyways, DCS aside, its a beautiful picture of the region and the mountains.
  21. Saw this in todays IOTD (Image of The Day), of the Caucasus Mountains https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=91690 its like a cut directly from the Caucasus map if you click on the image you can get a much larger and higher res image.. its pretty neat, just wanted to share
  22. Its ok, my guess/hope is that OvGME is 64bit, it will be able to hand the 6GB file.. since 32bit is limited to 4GB files and stuff.. thats why im assume JSGME is not longer a usable too with DCS, as it now contains single files larger than 4GB.. OvGME file snapshot process ran perfectly, so i will just have to stick with that going forward
  23. that is not a mod.. the issue i was describing was with JSGME taking a 'file snapshot' of the default installation. that file referenced is part of my default 2.5 OB install, no mods.
  24. i was running JSGME today with the updated 2.5, and it continued to 'hang'. after a few failures i decide to take a closer look. after examining the snapshot file after each time it 'hung' i found the most likely cause was that it hit the file: DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Surface\Caucasus.surface5 being a 32bit application, my guess is that its not able to load up this 6+GB file to generate the needed CRC (or whatever hash it uses), as this is where it seems to keep hanging. I will move to OvGME to see if that works better. [update: OvGME being 64bit, did in fact work fine]
  25. yes, i agree... The product is in early access, one of the main reasons for that is to allo wus (the general users) to work with the product see what bugs and issues their are, otherwise, there is no point really for "early access". In order to do any of this thought people need to know what "should" be working, and what is not implemented or known to not work or be buggy.. especially with an early access module with many missing items. I don't thing people really want to complain about it not being finished, its EA, most of us get that.. but help us help you.. give us something we can work from. Thanks :-)
