  1. I don't know if this has been asked before and I serached the threads on it, but to no avail... In FC 2.0 multiplayer, is there AWACS support for the Ka-50?? If there is support, is it going to be like in FC/LO where I get messages all the time if there are enemy aircraft in theater? Or is it going to be that I can dial him up on a freq, so I dont have to listen to constant updates? Thanks in advance!
  2. She's brand spanking new! We've purchased the hardware and are moving towards co-locating it at some point. Please be patient, as the current connection is a lot slower than your used to. As soon as the funds are collected we will move it to the data center. S!
  3. I tracked and followed him for about 60-70km. The point is that air to air engagments do happen from time to time. If you employ the right tactics and realize the helo is not meant to be used in a CAP or Intercept role, you can be quite effective. Air to air engagements are the exception, but should not be ruled out.
  4. Clearly you have not had the pleasure of an air to air kill with a Kh-25ML from 15km out. Nothing quite like the wait until impact :D http://www.159thgar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1931
  5. You're not supposed to know the exact position of the enemy. The map provided is just of friendly units and to show you where the FEBA is. There are no Gepards in game.
  6. The FARP is very close to the FEBA, so it is a hostile and dangerous place. The mission is meant to be challenging in the aspect that if you are near the front lines you better keep your head out of the pit. Also there are number enemy positions close to the FARP, within less than 7km so it could be a number of things lasing you.
  7. Load times for clients will probably be less also. Thanks Mustang for the information. I'll make the necessary edits on Saturday.
  8. Please post here if you think the mission needs any improvements or there are any problems with FARPs, etc.

I don't know what the benefits would be either... Most expert pilots can spool up faster than quick start. Also, by disabling quick start you keep those that are learning from participating.
  10. All, I've noticed that AI fixed wing fail to line up correctly and also fail to land on the carrier. This is for all US naval fixed wing. Thanks, Fudd

    Acedy!

    Happy Birthday!
  14. Did someone say DCS: Fulcrum D vs Hornet? :D Edit: I dont think I could possibly get tired of that matchup. Just the mere thought of it puts me close to unemployemnet and divorce with 80+ flight hours per week...
  15. Some theme music to go with it: She has a date at midnight...
  16. We're back for real this time.... I'll cross my fingers anyway--here is to more than 48hrs.... :D I'm sure Viper will come up with a neat new picture! :P IP: 64.87.10.166:10308 Intel E6400 @ 2.13 2 Gig's RAM Windows Vista Business x86 10Mbit up/down
  17. Well it seems pretty bleak. The server company and I had a "falling out." The ISO that we tried installing did not work so we are now out of options. I think I am going to rent a cage at a colo and offer to host servers for the community once I finish grad school in December. If I get a few people interested I can make the prices pretty competitive.
  18. Mostly where the experience came from in calculating network speed was from LOCERF. There really are not enough players in DCS multiplayer to warrant the 60mbps connection that we were using at that time. I think if you calculated 128kbps up and down for each client you'll probably be fine. So with 32 players on the server a 5mbps connection should work perfectly. In one of the LOCERF missions we had over 70 clients at once (I know that 104th has hosted almost 100) and thats really when you need uber 100mb connections.
  19. I'm hoping to get the 159th Dedi up this weekend, but for the two days it was up things were pretty stable. Good job to all those who tested and thank you to ED for the great patch. I have just a few side note FYI's for those setting up a server for the first time. I partially writing it here so I remember it if we ever get hacked again... as I always seem to forget and have to stumble my way through it. DCS download version will not install on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition with service pack 1 or 2 installed. Something to do with the NSIS installer, but it returns a message that says the license is corrupt or been tampered with. Its not a corrupt or incomplete download causing the problem--I checked the MD5 checksum. The only way you'll get it installed on this OS is either install it before adding service packs OR use the DVD. Another thing. Windows Server 2008 WE doesn't like to be ran as a desktop machine. In other words, using it for DCS Server hosting, will make it angry. I don't know why, but it crashed frequently and had connection issues. (All the crashes had to do with video driver problems) If I had to suggest a stable OS that will allow you to run DCS on the server for days without interruption it would be Server 2003. I haven't tried Win 7, but it looks promising. Our specs are: Intel E6400 2.13Ghz 2.00 GB RAM Windows Server 2003 Web Edition 10Mbit up/down
  20. Server is now at the datacenter with 60mb connection! That was a long 5 weeks of down time!
  21. Happened twice in the past 24 hours. Any ideas? DCS.exe 1.0.1.0 4a817ee6 Flight.dll 0.0.0.0 4a817c96 c0000005 00007dd6 d2c 01ca29c9a227bf36 Windows Web Server 2008, 32-bit (Service Pack 1) nVidia 7100/630i Driver 190.62
  22. We are on a T1 line for the short term, so it may get a bit laggy if you have lots a people in there. I am confident that by the end of the week we'll be back at the data center with 60mb up/down connection. Hope everyone enjoys!
  23. This questions probably belongs in the multiplayer section. You should be applauded for your willingness to host a dedicated server. The community could use more diversity in the online arena. Unfortunately 368kbps up stream will not be fast enough but to host maybe one or two clients without lag. Most of the DCS servers you see online right now use at least 1MB up/down with the top end running 60MB up/down. It will probably function perfectly as a 4 person Co-op dedicated server.
