  1. Again, DCS isn't open world. If someone wants to make a civ server and put-put around in DCS' environment, more power to them. No fighting required/needed. While yes, "realism" would be lacking, it's generally that way now with the rest of us (particularly in Nevada). I've been with vPilots in this sim, as well as other sims, who put focus on ATC efforts treating the airports like non-towered anyway. While an effort to establish a smarter DCS:ATC/AWACS would be nothing short of badass, it's not a necessity. Frankly, unless you're flying on vatsim or pilotedge, you're generally not experiencing it much anyway. In fact, if there was a growing civ market, and they pushed for improved ATC, the rest of us could benefit from it too. In the end, if it's possible, then do it! Leave it to the server admins to sort out. If they say no civ or no mil, then let that be the end of it. Combat Arms, WWII, nor early cold war planes weren't Armageddon for "traditionalist modernist" DCS. The civvy side of the house wouldn't be either. I was around these parts right before the DCS:BS release; when ONE developer made ONE aircraft. Now there are many making many, with multiple maps and endless potential. I don't give two shakes how one defines "fun" as long as it doesn't encroach on mine. Since we would generally be on different servers, I don't care what they do, and they shouldn't care what I do.
  2. Actually, it would be irrelevant, considering it all the data would be from scratch anyway. Still, you make a good point, as the T-38 isn't an F-5 B/D. I retract my comment.
  3. The model is mostly done for the T-38 (F-5). I guess that's up to ED & Belsimtek. An investment with excellent potential for very positive returns. The glass is half full.
  4. Generally, no. However, a T-38 freebie wouldn't be a bad idea instead of some/all as unarmed. It could be your baseline fast-moving trainer at the squads, so greenies could literally jump right in with a mediocre joystick, but not have the ability to do the combat activities without hashing out some cash. I suspect a few exclusive training squads would open. That's not a bad thing considering even if some stuck with it, they could very well end up helping those who would eventually move on. Get folks addicted, the money will follow.
  5. Flown in: CH-53, CH-46, C-130, C-5, UH-60, OH-58, M998 (way too fast over a hill, landing was brutal) Rubbed up against/sat in: UH-1, AH-1, F-4, F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, A-4, A-7, A-8, AV-8, A-10, F-102 (Dad was a crew chief at Travis), B-17, B-29, SR-71. It pays to have been a Civil Air Patrol cadet. People literally throw you in an aircraft.
  6. 45 years old. My first flight sim was my arms spread while making prop noises with my lips at 44. Don't laugh, it was serious business back then.
  7. Some folks thought Pablo Picasso was a crappy artist. Just saying. Truth.
  8. The issue, at least originally (back in the DCS:BS only days), was "Why should DCS bother with a game mode, because it's not real, dude!" This whining is nothing new. It's the same old song, just with the gripe now being ___(insert today's favorite squeak toy)____. In the end, purists will always have puritan views. Those who are not, won't. ED, as a business, is (very smartly) agnostic in its approach to allow for both, leaving it up to the server admins to decide who/what/when/where...as it should be. That goes for aircraft type too, obviously. The genuine problem is when there is encroachment happening. Since the IC is currently being reworked, that'll tackle that issue soon enough. The rest is just background noise. All is well.
  9. The scenarios are truly endless.
  10. Thanks for the time saving, guys. It's very much appreciated. Now, to play with AutoHotKey. ...oh, and Happy Fiftieth Polaris.
  11. The slew speed can be adjusted by the Shkval Optics Scan Rate knob. It can be found just below your autopilot panel.
  12. Targeting Mode Reset Button [bACKSPACE] It's located immediately to the right of the Laser Standby/Off Switch It's the only way I'm aware of.
