  1. sofie 59: If you say so, but I'm tempted to fire back with 'Skrattar bäst som skrattar sist'. :P But, hm, let the record show that I honestly look forward to seeing the finished product, all the same.
  2. I'd say that the first one that counted (not-arcade) was Falcon 4.0. Yeah, how's that for getting your feet wet for the first time? And AFTER that, I tried Jane's IAF. I know I tried Strike Commander, too, at some point, but I never actually owned it. I label it arcade-y, though. If anyone says that Wing Commander counts, I shall fart in your general direction!
  3. Can't bust the armour of a tank? Well, then get low and land a couple of bullets right in the barrel! :music_whistling: :joystick:
  4. I seriously can't wait until I get back home so I'm at a computer that has both enough disk space to buy and download DCS:W and actually run it, so I can get to grips with something like this... (Hey, I like my laptop and all, but... It ain't an i7-860 with a GTX 460, mkay?)
  5. If I were you, I'd take this to Nvidia's forum. It sounds like something that's just to weird to happen (which seems relatively common for Nvidia, in recent years), so it's more likely you'll find someone who knows what to do there. But all that aside, how are your drivers set? I'm on an Intel-"powered" :huh:laptop at the moment, so I can't check the settings myself. Are there any settings for what card to use as the main display? Ports/connectors? Hot-plugging, or whatever today's catchword is for connecting stuff while the computer is in operation?
  6. ... What a storm this announcement drew HERE! Anyway, I'm cautiously optimistic that this might become a worthwhile game. Future trailers an' such will be necessary to convince me in either direction, of course. But, hey, it looks like something that'll make my GTX 460 earn its price.
  7. I... might be interested in this in June/July, if you're interested in shipping to Sweden? I have a GTX 460, but a REALLY annoying problem (see 'GTX 400/500 series Lock-up club' on Nvidia's forum) that I do have a workaround for, but if there is no fix for this, that card's out in a hurry. Besides, X-Plane won't load. Sheesh, don't I gripe! :D But, yeah, my need isn't vital.
  8. Sound hardware doesn't matter nearly as much from Vista and onwards - I think MS did some abstraction monkey business, and it's all essentially software mixing/sampling/whatever. While onboard soundcards have come a long way (I'm fundamentally biased against the things, nevertheless), they do have the aforementioned CPU overhead. As well as no EAX, I believe. It depends on what games you want to use it for, really. I don't think DCS/Lock-On uses EAX, so if that's your only concern, onboard with digital output will probably be enough for you - listening to music/watching DVDs will also be good enough. Otherwise, find yourself a soundcard with sensible functionality and build-quality, and don't be afraid to go cheap.
  9. Hm, maybe this is why they were already working on 4.1 even before the release...
  10. While it's hardly a flight sim, I believe Freespace 2 SCP can be tuned down to something a laptop can manage. As long as it has support for OpenGL, anyway. (You never know with IGPs...) It can also be controlled with a mouse, and is probably better suited for it than an actual flight sim.
  11. Hm... Maybe with a DCS: F-4? Not the sexiest airframe nor avionics, I suppose, but it should at least be declassified enough. *Ka-COUGH*
  12. Hm... Don't know about Windows... but DCS could possibly manage something like it. Can you check? (With both keyboards connected, start DCS:[x], set control inputs for CDU-operations to use keys on the other keyboard.)
  13. Su-47! 'Cuz it's a nasty-lookin' SOB. :D (But among the less prototypical designs, it's a draw between Su-35 and -37. Don't know the difference, don't really care, never gonna fly one or see 'em in their intended application.)
  14. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65889 No beating our Mustang! :) You know, ever since I started using my new-ish GTX 460... I kinda wish I'd have sided with the red team for this hop. Won't hijack this, though. Glad you're satisfied.
  15. I'm not sure this game appeals to me, but I'll definitely have a look at the finished product. ... Oh, you wouldn't have any need of a Swedish localisation, would you? Only, I don't know German, so I'd work best off the English version. (I mean, Swedish IS close enough to make educated guesses about SOME words, but, well, you should be ashamed of yourselves if that extends to all of the text. :P)
  16. GGTharos: Nah, not before they support FSX again! 8)
  17. All I know to say about it is that your hardware will naturally have to work harder outputting to three monitors in such a high resolution as compared to one monitor with maybe a third of that resolution. In THAT sense, higher idle temperatures are perfectly understandable, but I wouldn't know how much higher they have any reason to be.
  18. It would be easiest to achieve if only it were an option in-game - like 'Use display output: x/y/z' (could be either HDMI 1/2, DVI, whatever) - but without any specialist tool, I also have no idea. Single display FTW! (Too cramped on my desktop with two computers, anyway - though that does strictly speaking mean I have two displays. :P)
  19. Looks sort of like a mix of Ace Combat 3's aircraft line-up combined with Eurofighter Typhoon. Might be good fun, but the English version of the site does need some polish. I mean it, you know.
  20. Dude... I'm groaning, and I'm not even a mechanic... :D
  21. Heh, yeah! SAAB J-37 (or whatever variant - how many are there, again?) Viggen, you lot! Hop to it! :music_whistling: [edit] Oh, right, the J-35 Dragon (Draken) would be hella interesting, but I think the avionics kind of predate my combat-simming preferences by more than a horse-length. So to speak. To beat around the bush, like.
  22. Meh, herbal and homeopathic teas only make my stomach go brooimph, anyway. But, you know, this strikes a hard blow against traditional medicine - I'm not going into whether it works or not, that has been debated enough already. You should see the headlines here on Iceland, where... well, less Christian beliefs are more common than you might be used to. Let me reiterate, for emphasis: This ban on unproven herbs will cause problems for traditional medicine. I mean nothing else besides that. Honest! Tharos: I absolutely agree with you that it's good to bar fakes from the market, but I take it you haven't read many articles on Alternet.org? Believe me, you wouldn't sing Big Pharma's praise nearly as enthusiastically then, even if it were them or phoneys. Well, Alternet IS USA-centric, where the climate seems to be a lot friendlier to Big Pharma than in the EU, but I think I can dig up a couple of articles if you aren't prepared to take my word that Big Pharma's rarely any better than your average witches and druids. Yes, they do generally support their claims on efficiency with scientific data, but Alternet's new pet peeve is women's lack-of-sexual-desire-disorder, which of course needs medication. Enough about that. Use of medication with REALLY interesting side-effects (and origins) is another can of worms, but I think there's enough to talk about or be indignant about without it. I R happy European!
