  1. Hopefully someone who knows will reply, I have no idea. But if I were to guess, it sounds like the F-86 module has just not been adapted to work with 1.5. It is Beta, after all, so some problems are to be expected.
  2. Just download the F-86 module from the ED website, install it, and it will then ask for the key when you try to run it. Enter the Steam key, it works in the standalone DCS World.
  3. I would recommend Bunyap Sims channel on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/4023446 There are some very detailed and informative videos there.
  4. First of all Valve (the company that runs the Steam service) has nothing to do with the games themselves, or their functions. That is all up to ED. And ED of course prefer that people use the stand alone version of DCS World. That way, they get to keep more of the money from the sales. Valve takes 30 % of the sales price on Steam. The Steam version is just there so that new people will hopefully discover and get into DCS, people that would never get the game if it was not available on Steam. But ED:s preference is that as many people as possible will use their store instead, therefore they will delay the releases on Steam, not make Beta versions available there, etc., to make people switch to the stand alone version. As long as there is both Steam and stand alone, the stand alone will always get preferential treatment. I also play Arma, and it was the same with Arma 2, patches and releases were always delayed on Steam compared to the stand alone version (but now Arma 3 is Steam only).
  5. There is also always going to be delays before products appear on Steam, as long as there is a stand alone version available too. Stand alone means more money directly to the developer, so they of course want as many people as possible to not wait for the Steam release, but to buy directly from their store.
  6. I don't think Steam will matter at all in this case. The module just needs to be installed and then activated in stand alone DCS World.
  7. If the problem is just that the Module Manager can't find Mig-21, just download the install file from the DCS page, and run it. It should now be installed, so that you can activate it in DCS World.
  8. Maybe we are misunderstanding each other, but I think that is what I replied to. If you buy BS2 on Steam, you can use the Steam key that you get to activate the BS2 module in the stand alone version of DCS World. Is that what you are planning to do? If so, you can. Steam keys can be used to activate modules in the stand alone DCSW, but the keys that you get when buying from the ED store can not be used to activate a module on Steam. EDIT: Ok, right, I see now. You meant "stand alone" as the old stand alone version of BS2, not the stand alone (non Steam) DCSW. Why don't you just use stand alone DCSW, with the BS2 module? Then you'll get all the latest updates and all the other new things.
  9. Yes, Steam keys work in the stand alone DCS World, but not the other way around.
  10. I don't need the activations back, I checked my account, and I have several activations left for every module. But it seems I am still going to have to download and activate every module manually, which will be quite a hassle. It feels like Steam is so much easier and smoother.
  11. Ok, if you have to do stuff like deactivate the modules on an old computer before installing on a new one (which you'll never get a chance to do if your hard drive dies), then I'm definitely going to go with Steam in the future. No such crap is needed there, just install Steam on the new computer and download all your games again easily. Thanks for your help!
  12. Yes, I have all the existing modules on my Steam account already, so my choice of Steam or standalone would only affect future modules. No, my hard drive on the old computer died, so I did not deactivate the modules on my old computer. Is this something that needs to be done? How do I do that now, when my old installation is gone? My account on the website is ok, all my keys are there. There was also no problem logging in to the Module Manager in DCS World, it's just that the modules don't show up as available for download from there. I'll probably just try to download and activate a single module manually from the web site and see what happens.
  13. Yes, I'd prefer using the stand alone to support ED with more money, but if there is really a need for manually downloading and activating every module after a reinstall, I'll rather use Steam, with it's single, simple installation.
  14. When I click on "buy", all that happens is that a browser window with the store page gets opened. I assume I can just download the modules from there, but it would be much easier to just do it directly from the module manager. Could it be that you need to download at least one module manually, and then the rest gets recognized? I might try that, if nothing else works. EDIT: And sure, I don't reinstall my system very often, so if there was just the standalone DCS World, I'd just do the manual module installation and be done with it. But since there is also a Steam version now, I'm interrested in finding out exactly how the module manager is supposed to work. If there is really a need for manual installation and activation of all the modules, I might just use Steam instead.
  15. So, after getting a new computer set up, I do a clean download of DCS World. I logged into the module manager, expecting it to recognize my account and making my modules available for download. But all I get is the option to buy modules. Do I really need do download all modules from the store site and activate them manually? What is the point of logging in to the module manager with your account then? Or am I missing something?
