Yeah the D-BOX is good, but for 16,000 AUD i think its way overpriced. I spent a day setting up FSX with a d-box platform. I must say its very user friendly, and easy to set up, most of my time was spent setting up FSX graphics. Im not sure if it was the FSX coding for dbox or the dbox system itself, but there was always a lag between input at the controls and the platform, a noticably. After a while it got rather annoying. Things like taxiing, left and right rudder input was converted to roll (tilt). And the vibrations would shake your teeth out on anything but the mildest settings. So i left with a mixed opinion of the system, great if it was 5k or something but not 16k. The other wierd thing to get used to was that the monitors weren't connected to the platform, so when the game view tilted and the platform tilted the effect was two fold. Putting the monitors on the platform would destroy them with the vibrations i would imagine. Great system but needs better programing i think. Just my experience.

Widescreen for Blackshark???
Nate Dogg replied to Blacknemisis's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13573&highlight=Widescreen this thread will provide all the answers to what settings to run and FOV issues. Once again, any chance of this being sticked mods?? -
Awesome, the administrator mode did the trick, thanks a million. cheers

Hi, Just got back into lockon with Vista 32 and trackir works normally, after deleting the files and such, but i can't center my view (F12). I have deleted all assignments in the game associated with F12 and it still wont work, this holds true for any button for that matter. Has anyone had this issue before? Its only in lockon, IL-2 and FS9/X work fine. Any help is appreciated. cheers

sounds like you MB is on its way out, or the power switch is faulty. Have you tried clearing your bios by joining the jumpers together? It in you MB manual. Ive had to do that a few times whilst tinkering and screwing things up. That might get you back to square one again. cheers

I'm an aussie from melb, don't play much lockon anymore, novalty has worn off, but im starting to get back into it, but not really a fan of online stuff as my connection speeds are always crap, im on adsl 1 at its fastest speed (1500kb). generally get verry high pings even when im the only one using it at home. Avalon is a strong possibility, i go everytime but this year im tempted not to because it hardly changes, same planes, same routines. But i still love it! cheers

For all that play lockon in widescreen format
Nate Dogg replied to Nate Dogg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Mods please sticky this thread! Mods, Please sticky this thread or take the relevent infomation out of this thread and put it into one of the other sticked thread that help set up lockon. I don't visit very often any more but every time i do there seems to be a new thread about getting widescreen to work and people having trouble. (and saying they can't find this thread via search). Thanks. -
For all that play lockon in widescreen format

Try leaving the FOV at 120 instead of 145? Im not sure i understand your question. Are you trying to play in WS with a 4:3 monitor but want to keep the same FOV as a normal 4:3 image? Really confused. :) cheers -

Help! Need a TrackIR 4 Profile
Nate Dogg replied to Ukr_Alex's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I too am new to the trackir4 and haven't been super impresed yet, ill give this profile a go. I don't think there is a way to move the default view back, but i just lean forward then press the recenter button, but then you loose the deadzone you created as your technically zoomed out. Any help on this would be great. cheers -
i think this is what we all need. http://www.howstuffworks.com/elumens.htm if only i had 20 large! cheers

http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13573 this is all you need to set it up right. Once you change the 1.3333 to 1.6 it will work as long as you don't go into the graphics setup, if you do it reverts to the default value of 1.3333 very annoying but once your all set up there isn't much need to change the graphics. cheers

yes the each end of the runway has seperate numbers one being 180 more than the other. Obviously at the time of taxi she ignored the windsock and no one else was flying at the time. A very costly mistake!

Don't you just love how the results don't change much between res? makes me wonder what settings they used? Either way i wouldn't mind and extra 15fps over a FX62 but not worth a whole new system just yet

Get the 7900GTX and if your feeling like a gamble get the PhysX card too. http://www.ageia.com/ browse this site to find out what games are supported by the card and whats possible coming up for it. But no flight sim i know of will benifit from having the PhysX card but they all will benifit from the 7900GTX as its the best card around without getting into SLI or the new single card with 2 GPU's on it. Altough it might be wise to hold off for 4 months or so untill things are announced about DX10 and DX10 GPU's cheers

One of our F111 does a bellyflop today!
Nate Dogg replied to skippy505's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I can think of one reason for not landing on grass Slippery slide anyone? especially in winter when the grass is usually damp, he could have slid for ages landing on that stuff, plus the chance of getting the plane nose first into the dirt and flipping it over would have been ugly if he didn't get it right. Just my thoughts. Good pilots here in australia, nice landing cheers -
that would be the aircraft about to break/just broke the sound barrier. Im sure someone will be able to explain in detail what causes the effects. As for the dump n burn, like previously stated most large planes can dump fuel but the burning part all depends on where the fuel dump point is on the ac. On the 111 its inbetween the Engines and when in full AB the heat ignites the fuel.

Quick question about res, aa, af
Nate Dogg replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Just play around with it a little. For memory after about 170 for the FOV the graphics stuggle when panning around the cockpit. Version 1.12a automatically adjusts the FOV for the res, but we still have to change the Aspect ratio every time we change graphics settings. For your res, FOV should not change, as your aspect ratio is not really changing. Raising the FOV increases your horizontal viewing capabilities, and without running widescreen this would look weird if work at all. Anyways have a play and see what each change makes. As for AA and AF, it depends on your GPU and what you think is acceptcable fps. Im running on 2aa and 8af. I have noted that AF doesn't effect the fps nearly as much as AA. Here are a couple of links from nHancer driver program regarding AA and AF respectively: http://www.nhancer.com/help/AAPres.htm http://www.nhancer.com/help/AFPres.htm Best to load up all the options first then compare as it is much easier to see differences when pic change instantly. cheers -
The time has come: Upgrade.
Nate Dogg replied to Silent Warrior's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That all looks good, only bear in mind Lockon wont use dual core, but in the long run games and other apps will use it. At least get the 4000+ as CPU is the thing that will go far with lockon. I would opt for the 1900XT as it will last you a lot longer than the 1600pro. Bottom line, go for the better GPU and the best CPU you can afford. good luck -
PC rebooting on startup - help requested
Nate Dogg replied to 3Sqn_Sven's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nope but try updating your MB drivers to the latest, GPU drivers and anything else you can do. May even be something in BIOS too? Never hurts to reset the bios if you know what you changed if anything. give it a go and let me know how it works out cheers -
my bad.

not if your already running a 939 socket. Basically all am2 does is give you the opertunity to use ddr2 ram and i think the am2 cpu's use less power, but in terms of preformance there is little to no difference between a 939 and am2 Go to http://www.anantech.com for a good review. cheers
