Thanks for the replies guys. I added some info in OP. But seems like I should get better FPS overall with my system when I compare to yours. Will mess around some more. Thx for the tip on my CPU. Will try to OC to 4.4.

Was messing about with my settings in preperation for my Rift S arriving tomorrow (have the old Rift). I went through all the settings and came to shadows, normally I use "flat only". When I went higher of course there was an impact on my FPS but when I turned them off, I got a huge boost. My FPS is locked at 45 (same problem as other have been experiencing). To give an example: F-14B - instant action - PG map - On Alert 5 (on carrier) With flat only, I get around 26-30 FPS With no shadows, it's locked at 45 (then probably higher). With highest level of shadows, I get around 20-24 (so not that big a change from flat only). Is it because of my system or because of how the game renders shadows? My system spec: Intel i7-6700 4GHz 16 GB DDR4 RAM Geforce GTX 1080 HDD drive Texture medium Terrain Textures Low shadows testing Civil traffic off Water Medium Visib Low Grass/clutter 50% Trees 75% Msaa x2 Pd-1.2 Preload Radius 50% Edit: added settings Edit2: Of course, the FPS is another matter when I leave the carrier. It goes to 38-45(locked) with shadows on.

I get so easily motion sickness. If I'm in a car in a roundabout and I look down for a second to check my phone, I get carsick. It's that bad. I fly VR without any problems. It took a week or so to get used to but now I never feel anything. A little sometimes if I am tired. I can even fly in a spacegame (Elite Dangerous) without any problems, and there you really move around fast.

Just the thread I was looking for. I have a Rift CV1 and was thinking about upgrading. The ones I've been looking at, is the Rift S and Reverb. My problem is, that I only have a 1080 and that wouldn't be enough for the Reverb. So my question is, is there so much difference between the two, to justify waiting with the reverb until I upgrade my GPU? From this thread it doesn't seem like a huge difference? Thanks,

This looks very interesting. Have been looking to replace my old x-52 and since its nearly impossible to buy VKB and Virpil, a new player on the market is very promising. Will stay tuned here and follow the project. Good luck :)

I think it's a great idea to have a thread discussing the different aspects of dogfighting in the Tomcat. I have just been doing the instant mission in Caucasus but will try against different fighters. In that fight both vertical and horizontal fights have been successful. I wonder which plane would be the hardest to fight against. I guess MIG-29 and SU-33 would be hard? The buffet is a fantastic tool. It really tells you your limits. It's great to fly a real plane instead of FBW. Enjoying it immensely. Next for me to test is using the maneuver flaps.

What I like about EA access, is the possibility to learn the aircraft step by step. I bought the A-10C a long time ago but never really got into it, simply because I don’t know where to start. Not that its too difficult but just a matter of deciding where to begin.

This. As strange as it might sound, I really can’t fly without the pilot in VR since the Hornet came out (with pilot). So every time I start up another plane, I end up going back to the Hornet.

Like I wrote earlier, I really like the format. One thing that would make it even better IMHO, is an overview of the different sections with text showing what area is what, like: a picture showing all of left side console with text and pointers to the different sections, eg. G valve button, ICS panel etc.

Any news on the pilot body? I understand that most are working hard with the Tomcat but will we see it sometime after the release of the F-14 or further down the road? Edit: just had a flight in the fantastic Viggen but are really missing the pilot in VR

Actually I would upgrade from a HDD to the Samsung but it sounds like that would be a big yes :)

I’m thinking about upgrading my HDD to a Samsung 970 Pro SSD. Would I see a noticeable increase in FPS (not loading time) in VR? Some say it mainly increases loading times. But would it give me a flat out increase in FPS? Thanks

I’ve been looking for some time now to upgrade my Saitek X-52 and have been checking different products. Thrustmaster Warthog have been on the market for quite a while and seems like a solid choice. But I have been checking out Virpil and VKB for what seems like a year now, but not sure if they are a serious business since they never have any of their highend products in stock. Quite strange tbh. Should I go for the safe solution and get the Warthog HOTAS or wait to see if, by any chance, Virpil and VKB get any products? Are they in fact better? I’ve been looking at the Mongoose T-50 throttle and VKB Gunfighter mk.II. Thanks for your time and have a great weekend
