  1. To add, IRL there are also designated safe lanes (specific routes, air speeds, and altitudes) for aircraft to return from enemy lines who suffered damage, or for whatever reason, their radios and IFF are inoperable. Brevity code: RIDER—A bogey that is conforming to safe passage routing, airspeed, or altitude procedures.
  2. If I change the _HMD.hsls file, do I need to re-compile the shaders (delete fxo and metashader2 folders?)
  3. I installed VAICOM PRO and Voiceattack, and when I load DCS it hangs at 10%. Anyone else have that problem?
  4. Yes use the JHMCS for airspeed information.
  5. Don’t keep pulling around - if you’re winning, you must roll 180 and pull. It’ll be a 2 circle fight if the bandit continues in the same direction, or another 1 circle if he also reverses. Either way, you’ll start the second round with an angular advantage. Don’t just pull in the same direction and come all the way around the circle.
  6. Are you winning the first one-circle? I.E. do you get your nose on him before he gets his nose on you? If you’re winning the one-circle, you have two options - take a snapshot across his canopy as he passes your nose and/or convert to a two-circle fight by rolling 180 as he’s about to cross your nose and turning.
  7. Not with the built-in DCS GUI. However, you can create a custom script using the TM Software to assign different joystick buttons to long and short press.
  8. I wish it were possible. Use the headset as a head tracker and display the same 2D view in both eyes.
  9. Echoing what other people have said. Use MSAA 2x via the in-game settings, the NVCP setting doesn’t work in DCS VR. Also you might need to lower your PD/SS. Try 1.3 SS via OTT with 2x MSAA.
  10. [iNVESTIGATING]S-J Changing Master Mode to NAV Issue: Exiting Selective Jettison master mode via the S-J push button on the SMS page resets master mode to NAV, even if you were in A-A or A-G when you entered S-J mode. Desired Behavior: Exiting S-J should return the Master Mode to either Nav, A-A, or A-G depending on what the master mode was when you entered S-J. Temporary workaround: Unless you want to go back to NAV master mode, exit S-J using the ICP push buttons A-A or A-G.
  11. Issue: TMS UP does not reliably transition into ACM BORE when using the JHMCS if it is turned on and later turned off. Reproduce: Load any instant action mission. I'm using Free Flight Caucuses. Turn on JHMCS via SYM/INT knob. 1) MSL/DGFT switch to DGFT. Radar defaults to ACM 20x30 2) Look forward at the HUD. 3) TMS UP. Radar is commanded to ACM BORE, but slaved to JHMCS LOS, and stays fixed there. Even if JHMCS reticle is hidden by either DMS AFT LONG or by HUD blanking. BUG #1: If JHMCS is hidden with DMS AFT LONG or HUD blanking, should the radar still slave to the JHMCS LOS, or go straight to ACM BORE at the aircraft boresight? BUG #2: The radar only slaves to the JHMCS LOS the moment TMS UP is depressed. It doesn't follow the JHMCS reticle, even if TMS UP is held down. You have to repeatedly depress TMS UP to update the radar position. 4) TMS DOWN. Radar stays in ACM BORE, but now slaves to and scans around the aircraft boresight. 6) TMS DOWN. Radar commanded to ACM 60x10. 7) TURN OFF JHMCS via SYMBOL/INTENSITY knob. 6) TMS UP. Radar is commanded to ACM BORE and slaved to JHMCS LOS (but now the helmet is off!) It should go to Aircraft Boresight. BUG #3
  12. Any refueling situation with a KC-135 MPRS has it dropping a basket after reaching pre-contact position, instead of the boom for the F-16. This occurs in both MP and SP.
  13. Dear ED, Please allow us to click the canopy rail “towel rack” to give the Salute! command to the deck crew to signal launch. Thanks!
  14. I also have this problem. Like many others I am using the ministick for large movements and a separate hat for fine adjustments. I think the real problem is that the slew rate with the analog stick is the same in terms of degrees per second whether you’re zoomed in or zoomed out. In the A-10 for example, the slew rate is proportionate with zoom level to allow finer adjustments when zoomed in.
  15. The carrier pattern assumes two things: 1) There’s a 30 knot wind down the angled deck 2) The carrier landing zone is offset 10 degrees When you do the final 180 turn of a carrier pattern, you’re intentionally going to overshoot the carrier’s path laterally so that you roll out aligned with the angled deck. On land, you’ll want to be displaced a bit further out on downwind, and delay your 180 turn slightly to compensate for that lack of 30 kt headwind.
  16. How a modern RWR processes and interprets radar signals is one of the most highly classified of all military secrets. Anyone who knows what they’re actually talking about isn’t going to post about it. Anyone who’s posting doesn’t have any idea what they’re actually talking about. Enjoy your game.
  17. The HUD symbology is projected at infinity, it’s not going to look like it’s “on” the HUD combiner glass. I too had a weird feeling when I first started in VR but you’ll get used to it.
  18. The problem with using the rocker switch as mode select is if you’re in AG mode and you hit the weapons select switch, it takes you to AA mode automatically, and your rocker switch will be out of sync with the game logic.
  19. The V/UHF radio has a bug when switching from Manual to Preset, and back again. The actual frequency does not change until you rotate the Preset Channel Select Knob at least once. To reproduce: - Cold start. V/UHF RX Mode selector to PAL after power on. Starting with default settings: V/UHF TX Mode Selector (the M/P/G switch) is on Preset (P) 1) Move V/UHF TX Mode Selector to Manual (M) 2) See that the frequency on the V/UHF repeater incorrectly shows the old Preset Frequency. 3) Rotate the V/UHF Preset Channel Select Knob (This should do nothing in Manual Mode) 4) See that the frequency on the V/UHF repeater now shows correctly the Manual Frequency. Now let's reproduce the bug the other way around! 5) Move the V/UHF TX Mode Selector to Preset (P) 6) See that the frequency on the V/UHF repeater incorrectly shows the old Manual frequency. 7) Rotate the V/UHF Preset Channel Select Knob 8) See that the frequency on the V/UHF repeater now shows correctly the Preset Frequency
  20. Also the reason they add a 1.5x margin of safety in the design is not so pilots can take it up to 12 Gs if needed in a combat environment. It’s because the aeronautical engineers are using mathematical models that assume perfect pieces of metal without any cracks, corrosion, inclusions, etc. Add in 15 years of salt water exposure, thousands of carrier traps, and who knows what the actual limit of any individual airplane is. Maybe it will take 11 G’s just fine, or maybe there’s a tiny micro-crack in just the wrong place and the wings come off at 7.1 G’s.
  21. In lieu of a save game option how about the option of either starting your mission 1) cold and dark on the ramp, 2) ready on the runway, 3) airborne and ingressing? Currently this can be done by making three separate missions in the editor, and it’s a nice way to scale the gameplay based on how much time the player has.
  22. VDI and Analog Dial. For the VSI don’t linger to read the numbers. You’re just glancing at the needle position.
  23. During the Case I: Attitude - AOA - Attitude - VSI - Attitude - AOA - Attitude - VSI - Attitude.. On final: BALL - AOA - LINEUP - BALL - AOA - LINEUP
  24. VAICOM PRO plugin for VoiceAttack I’m having a problem where I can’t change the airport that I’m talking to. This is with Easy Comms Off. I’ve tried both Instant Switch, and using the “(Airport) Switch.” commands and none seem to be working. The only reply I get is from the airfield I started from, this happens even after I changed the radio frequency to the second airport. Does anyone else have this problem?
