Night Refuel & Nose Illumination
SmilingBandit replied to Zodiacc's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
And the KC-135s aren’t. One missing thing is the lighting on the tanker. Underbody, underwing, and floodlight brighten things up irl. -
Visual backed up by ILS is a pretty common practice.

The real ones are finally going to. It’s a long time until we’ll see it in game.

Snow removal is a civil engineering task.

Tanker lighting effects for night refueling
SmilingBandit replied to Hellbat's topic in DCS Core Wish List
For the receiver the AR floodlight and nozzle light are less important than the underbody and under wing illumination lights. -
There are birds on Guam, just not native songbirds. There are some very territorial birds that will dive bomb you when you go for a run during their nesting season.

ED just needs a way to NOTAM it as inoperable for being clogged with frogs again.

I use a number pad as my UFC and just mapped the number keys as they are natively. I lose them as separate keys on the keyboard but it’s not been an issue.

And for what it’s worth they are USB 2 devices.

Aux should stay on inter flight for the sortie. Primary would be what changes. More from the AF side but should follow.

Introducing the Virpil Control Panel #2!
SmilingBandit replied to HC_Official's topic in VIRPIL Controls
They have a tool that I would call as being in open testing. So far I’ve had zero luck getting it to work. https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/2561-vpc-link-tool/ -
Changing the LED status for the landing gear on CP#2
SmilingBandit replied to rapid's topic in VIRPIL Controls
They do have a tool that’s in it’s early stages. So far it’s hit or miss if it works for people and I’m unfortunately in the miss column. https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/2561-vpc-link-tool/ -
You’re not kidding. I recently gave a tour of my jet to some F-35 mechanics and they were astonished at how large our brakes were in relation. Everything in aviation is a trade off, so why you would haul extra heavy brakes along when you operate from runways a couple miles long seems a poor choice.

Dumb question, but do you have your AWACS set to perform the AWACS task in the mission you made?

Introducing the Virpil Control Panel #2!
SmilingBandit replied to HC_Official's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I ordered a panel two. Looking forward to seeing how the gear lights works. -
Virpil Throttle CM2 Virtual Detent Settings
SmilingBandit replied to Lynchsl62's topic in VIRPIL Controls
You can also fiddle with the curves on the throttles for the other jets to make 80% (or where ever you make the detent for your setup) the mil power for the jet even if it is 87% by design. -
How about new languages for ATC communication?
SmilingBandit replied to DustyFox's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As others have eluded to, English is the common language of aviation. But it's not required to use. It is common to hear the local language used on all sorts of military and civil ATC channels for "local" traffic with English used for foreign aircraft. -
Hand signals are still used today. See the linked video for an example. Now, how to see them in game is another story.

[NEED TRACK REPLAY]Engine Oil Failure
SmilingBandit replied to Cerulean's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'm not even sure the throttle has an intermediate setting. :) -
Fixing IR so that it's not just a filter on top of the visual layer is on the roadmap and was supposed to be before the F-18's TPOD but the people spoke and we get this for a while longer.

Is the gateway work in progress? The only thing I've read from ED sources says it's in. If what is in the game is their end state then it is what it is, but it's sorely lacking.

[REPORTED]Refueling boom connection point misaligned
SmilingBandit replied to EasyEB's topic in Bugs and Problems
One thing to remember is that the nozzle should have an articulation point just forward of the dark grey area which would let it lay more level when connected.
