  1. I'm just dropping in to say THANK YOU to the ED Team. I play exclusively in VR on a Pimax 8kx (Steam version) and saw an immediate 30% FPS increase. It ran well before but now it's super smooth. Totally empathize with anyone still troubleshooting - I've been there.
  2. Interesting that we have different experiences. I've now tested across multiple aircraft and maps and get the same problem across all of them (F86, F5, F14, F16, Caucuses, Persian Gulf, Nevada, Syria, Channel). I rolled back to stable release and reinstalled Open Beta, but the problem is still there. Sounds like ED is aware of it but if anyone wants screen shots or other files just let me know.
  3. I have a similar issue with the F-16. No radio audio or printed messages since the last update. But my messages are going through (e.g. wingmen will respond to them). EDIT: Seems to be all aircraft and maps. I've tested the F-86, F-5, F14, F16 so far. Caucuses, Persian Gulf, Nevada, Syria, Channel.
  4. I have this problem with the F-16 as well. No radio messages are working (wingmen, ATC, AWACS). I don’t even see the text. However my wingmen will act on my commands so the messages are getting through.
  5. My 8700k was running at 4.8 ghz. I tried 5.0 but didn't see that much difference so I backed it off. As for Z690 motherboards (in the US anyway) I had luck with Newegg. One other note. Switching to Windows 11 isn't necessary but there are some interesting features in Windows 11 if you have Alder Lake. Windows 10 doesn't detect treat the P-cores and E-cores differently so you can [allegedly] run into situations where a high demand task is assigned to an efficiency core. The Windows 11 Thread Director can supposedly tell the difference and assign tasks appropriately. I switched to Windows 11 in the hopes of extracting the maximum from the Alder Lake design. No issues so far but changing to a new OS is always annoying. In hindsight I probably could have stuck with Windows 10 for a while to get a benchmark before trying 11.
  6. I agree waiting is generally wise. Microsoft always seems to take a while to sort out its new OS. Of course left to my own devices I'd probably still be on XP. Hey, it worked! For Alder Lake CPUs the Windows 11 Thread Director distributes tasks between the performance cores and the efficiency cores. Windows 10 won't do that. But if you don't have an Alder Lake CPU the benefit isn't there. There's nothing about Windows 11 that impresses me.
  7. I would assume so as well, although the Thread Director feature of Windows 11 is (I'm told) necessary to extract maximum performance from Alder Lake CPUs.
  8. Major Corvus, I'd have to suspect it is your Reverb. I say this as a former Reverb owner who LOVED it until it started getting quirky. Quirky led to unreliable. Unreliable led to bricked. It's now sitting on a pile of crap a few feet away from me. (Not literal crap. I'm not a complete pig.) Granted, my experience soured me on the Reverb so maybe I'm blaming it for all my problems. Anyway, I'm running Mac OS . . . I mean Windows 11 . . . with my Vive Pro 2 and it is working great. Buttery smooth. I installed Windows 11 only for the Thread Director since I upgraded to an Alder Lake CPU. So maybe the CPU is why it's working for me. I dunno.
  9. I upgraded to an i5-12600k and installed Windows 11. DCS is fantastic. Big improvements (20-30%) over my previous i7-8700k and Windows 10 setup. Totally off topic, I just have to say thanks to the Eagle Dynamics team. You do incredible work and it is greatly appreciated.
  10. Posting as another data point for folks. Can't say if my experience is typical or not. I just upgraded from an i7-8700k to an i5-12600k. Installed Windows 11. I'll spare you the routine tale of fiddling with BIOS and driver updates to get everything to work. It's always a minor pain and I only had to clear the BIOS once. But when I finally got everything working . . . DCS is fantastic. I'm seeing a 20-30% increase in FPS playing in VR with the same GPU. It was good before but now it is butter smooth. None of my settings have changed - just the CPU and the OS. I've got a teensy tiny OC on the CPU to 5.0 Ghz but otherwise I'm running mostly stock settings. My hardware is listed below. I'm running the Vive Pro 2 in Extreme (4896x2448, 120 Hz) and Steam SS at 150%. PD of 1.0. I opted to stick with the same DDR4 RAM I was using in my old machine and don't regret it. This way I only paid for the CPU and a MOBO (Gigabyte Z690 Aero). (Okay, I bought a new CPU cooler because I wanted to.) But PSU, RAM, and GPU carried over from my old machine. Although I still don't know why my port engine quit 23 minutes into my last Mossie mission. Running at a a boost of 8 and 2600 RPM. Engine just quit. Of course I was flying low over the channel and managed to lose control. I just had time to think, "Crap, I'm gonna die."
  11. Had this happen last night. Flew for a bit over an hour and don’t think I exceeded any engine parameters. I generally kept boost at 8 and RPMs at 2600. Supercharger to auto. On the return flight I climbed to 20k feet before descending to the airfield. Came close to 400 mph during the descent so maybe that affected something. Leveled out around 3,000 feet and slowed to 200 in preparation for landing. Then my starboard engine abruptly cut out. I feathered the prop and prepared to land on one engine but about three minutes later the port engine died. I managed to “land” in a field. After ending the mission I found the same errors for ignition timing followed immediately by the “engine damaged beyond repair” notation. Not sure if this is a bug or operator error.
  12. Yep, I play with mirrors. Although usually I notice the tracers going past my canopy before I see anything in the mirrors! I thought about a bug report but figured they’re aware of broad issues since the map is still in early access.
  13. IKR. But I can’t get Marinas to work consistently yet. It plays fine with one aircraft and then it’s stutter city with another. I’m hoping that future development will make it more consistent.
  14. So I made a simple P-47 mission with maybe a dozen units and it was a slide show (in VR). 10-15 FPS max. Changed the player aircraft to a P-51 and got 90 FPS. No other changes. Did some experimenting with rebooting, etc., but the results never changed. The P-47 was unplayable but the P-51 had no problems.
  15. Thanks, I’ll give it another shot. I think I destroyed over 80% a few times but maybe I was just short or didn’t follow the route home closely enough. It would be nice to have a “scenario notes” at the end of the mission briefing with victory conditions. Or even in a separate document. Regardless, it’s really nice to have a deep campaign for the F-5!
