It’s worth noting that less than 2% of this demographic uses Linux.

Making DCS a native linux application would be a massive undertaking, and is not worth the effort.

That's the typical chicken-and-egg-problem. If more game developers would support linux this number on steam would much higher. We all will pay the price for this dependency from large software providers and their closed source products. I already see it in my professional environment (latest topic: VMWare).

In the end if it has a sidewinder you’re dead. It won’t need to go BFM. After all it can fire backwards. Let’s see the F-22 do that.

Too bad the F-35 can't carry AIM-9X in its weapons bay, only on the wing pylons.

Because of the higher RCS it would be dead long before the F-22 is in its Sidewinder range. 😉

But have you ever seen it at an airshow? Because I have, and I think it could only be said to be F-22 esque

At air shows, the planes fly with little fuel and no payload at all.

The F-35 simply has too little lift area (except perhaps for the C variant) to be a good dogfighter. With digital flight controls you can get the maximum out of these limited aerodynamics, but you can't outsmart the laws of physics.

The F-35 doesn't even have thrust vectoring to compensate for this disadvantage.

The F-35 was never intended to be an air superiority fighter. Its advantages lie in its superior sensor equipment and its ability to operate in a datalinked network of different units. This creates a superior situational awareness for the pilot.

What does the war have to do with a mod? I genuinely do not understand. Are the mod developers currently in service preventing them from working on the mod? Are they physically unable to work on the mod? Was there a law or any regulation passed which I am not aware of that prevents them from working on it?

I don't know their exact reasons. But at least for me, war in their country is a very grave one.

And by the way, working on this mod is a hobby of them, not their job.

    So, deal with it.

    1)Cockpit looks blurry,
2)game crashes if you put any A-G weapons,
3)replaces and messes with the default F16 unless you remove this mod,
4)replaces and messes with default weapons.
5)The instruments are mirrored inside the plane between the front and backseat, EVEN down to light switches.
6)Fighter pilot helmets without a body are floating inside the cockpit if you put an empty plane on the tarmac..
7)INTEGRITY CHECK IS RUINED. I can go on and on with the list.

What's the point of this mod? Ruin your entire game just to be a backseater 1-2 times??? For what its worth, it puts your game in way too much trouble... Let's hope ED is going to make a standalone F16D, because this is not it.

All these issues came with DCS 2.9 because ED changed a lot of things in this update. Due to the war in Israel the developers are not able to work on this mod at the moment.

So I recommend to have a little patience, especially since it is a free mod.

    Hi Ithronwise,

FYI, yep it'll be a previous old asset from Currenthill that's causing the problem, there are about 3 pages of what to do, if you go back on this thread about 3 or 4 pages.

Currenthill has been answering this for some time in the past week or so.

    Hello flyingscotsman,
you were right. I had 2 older mods from currenthill in the tech folder. They were hard to find because their names didn't start with CH. Thanks for the hint.

what are you trying to say ?

what the actual f* ... where's all my text gone o_O

Let me try to re-add this:

I wanted to point out that, even though all textures which are present in the original DCS zip file (for instance: "BurfordHolly_ShrubSingle.zip"), also exists in Barthek's mod. But the ones from Barthek are older. So, to me that makes this mod outdated. Maybe it's still usable and of better quality, but I don't know. I'm no texture artist.

First, the mod comes from Taz1004 not from Barthek.

Second, if the mod still works and has better quality then the timestamp of the files doesn't matter. Even if ED has modified just a tiny detail within the files the timestamp is changed.

Third, if you dissatisfied with the quality of the mod you needn't to use it. If not I don't understand what's your point.

In game, I can select weapons on pylons, but i still cannot get any skins loaded. I've ensured they're all loaded in the correct place, and still no go.
This is the same in the editor, I cannot load any skins in the editor no matter which coal ition i pick. the skins still show empty. I also cannot load any weapons in the editor, every pylon has no right click functionality. it seems the LUA script for weapons is empty when i look at it (0kb), not sure why? It also doesnt let me save any loadouts, no matter what i put on which pylon.

You have to create your own loadouts. The "Empty" loadout is, as the name says, always empty.

Could someone confirm of bright me up - when I am flying the F16C or F15, I can refuel with KC135, but when I set tanker as KC135MPRS, I can't - is it a bug  or I am doing something wrong ?

The KC-135MPRS is only for aircrafts with probe-drogue system, at least in DCS. IRL of course it can handle both types of aerial refueling system, flying boom and probe-drogue.

  10. Me too. To exclude other reasons, I did the following steps:

    1. I deactivated all mods (renamed the DCS folder in Saved Games, too)
    2. I did a cleanup and a slow repair including additional files

Attached a dcs.log of a cleaned, repaired, vanilla DCS installation without any mods.

And here is a short video to demonstrate the problem. It isn't from the vanilla if someone wonder about the livery but without any mods. The issue persists in vanilla DCS.

I think @Taz1004 knows about this. Syria and AIM-9X are missing textures also.

At least for the texture issue of the B-8M1 rocket pod I found that three files are missing in the AeroWeapons.zip file of the Bazar\World\textures folder that are existing in the origin file:
    b20_diff.dds
    b20_diff_RoughMet.dds
    b20_NM.dds

I copied them from the original zip, halved the size of the b20_diff_RoughMet.dds and b20_NM.dds (I left the b20_diff.dds unchanged) and added them to the AeroWeapons.zip of Taz1004's Optimized Core Textures mod. Now the B-8M1 rocket pod has textures again.

if you open the model in the MV, you will notice that the texture cockpit.dds is loaded from the Su-57. I don't know why CLS uses a common name for its texture and hasn't added an addition so that the texture is only loaded with the superbug. the fourth picture has nothing to do with the wrong texture, as this only affects the exterior model. there are many mods with the same problem with a texture that uses the common name Glass. there are 3 mods that have the texture with the same name cockpit.dds. Su-57 Feleron, MB-339PAN and Eurofighter Typhoon. whereby the texture cockpit.dds is not assigned in the Eurofighter Typhoon and can be deleted from the zip in the folder cockpit/textures/Cockpit_Textures.zip. Since the Su-57 and the MB-339PAN appeared before the CLS, I recommend CLS to rename its texture.

That's not correct. The cockpit.dds is missing in the current version of the CJS Superhornet mod. Therefore it loads a cockpit.dds from another mod.

I don't have the Su-57 mod and I had a missing texture issue at the cockpit frame (green pixel texture) instead of the light blue one. As soon I copied the cockpit.dds from the old Superhornet version 1.8.2 into the Textures folder the issue was gone. So, please don't post incorrect information.

    I don't trust windows firewall.

3rd party antivirus programs are snakeoil that causes only trouble in most cases (and slows down your system). For private use the Windows Defender is absolutely enough and you don't need any other antivirus programs. And the best antivirus program is working between your ears anyway. If this fails, no existing antivirus program can protect your system from all the bad stuff out there.
