  1. Ive done some LUA programming with FSX, basically just reading addy's that otherwise werent available or using formulas to convert Kts to MPH or liters to gallons blablabla. LUA is great and seems pretty solid. Programming can get under your skin and I know my plan-actually-fly ratio is prolly 10-to-1, if even that. The only way i was able to learn some lua ( can be a bit scary to decide to go learn a prog language ) is because of the time/resources given by those willing to share their knowledge and make it accessible for us 'noobs', Im sure effectively cutting more into their ever so dwindling free time...you're too kind Speed. Your work and willingness to teach others is a huge plus for ED marketing also...not to mention LUA can be used many other 'places'... I hope with the release of the ground module your work/sharing doesnt get forgotten. You should be on the dev team IMO..it could only benefit the product. Thanks for these tools and your time.
  2. VERY good idea. But 95% of DCS servers are always locked, even when empty. If your lucky enough to get on an unlocked server, theres a chance that its to many hops to keep your ping rate below 'kickable'. The DCS/LO community is not open with their servers, for whatever reason, I don't know. This, in turn, hurts the product IMHO, although I have no data to back that statement up. Unless Hyperlobby shows a bunch of servers that arent on the DCS server list that are out there somewhere, ( yeah right ) things look pretty bleak. We need more people like this willing to share the virtual airspace and let those without servers or who are new or whatever have a place to go. DCS is fairly unique in its having both single / multiplayer replayability, but nothing quite like having 20-30 human piloted aircraft wizzing around blowing shit up. Servers with many pilots online are excellent for marketing, as its hard for anyone to pass up not hopping on to participate and maintains the wanting to go DCS, not find something else because you're unable to go to the multiplayer step. If I get a better connection I will put up a game server that's unlocked for all to fly, with a process to let mission builders without a server throw their missions on...If I remember correctly LO was 45kb per aircraft, so I imagine when the fiber is available here, that will suffice. Also, a day or two out of a week for 'noobs' or whatever to have labels on etc etc. It would be beneficial if ED could throw up a server, but there is overhead that comes with it, and who knows what their workload/ budget currently supports. Also, reading some of the less proactive posts and comments shows some of the appreciation one would have to deal with if a game server was offered.
  3. Hello, this is the message I am recieving after the BC2 patch, 1.1.1.1 Has anyone gone thru this issue and followed the error message directions to 'generate a new hardware code' (even though nothing on my PC has changed, I dont update auto in anything, nor have I added any hardware) Wait.. I did do a system restore at some point.... But where does one 'generate a new hardware code'?
  4. when is the area going to be released? Any 1 know?
  5. Hello, I've seen the additional Patriot system additions, but before and after adding them as primary's to a Patriot battery ( CP is still in slot 1), the launchers seem to no longer repond and no missles are launched. Search / Track radars are pointed towards the incoming aircraft, as well as the launchers, flat, unobstructed terrain, and enemy aircraft @ 20,000ft at 400-500 kts are simply flying by, no reaction. Anyone else seeing this?
  6. I might be blind in one eye, and can't see out of the other, but is there more description on the BS2 somewhere than just 'many new features - click here to order' , like a link or somewrite up perhaps? Apologies if I missed it...
  7. I am having the same issue with A10C after patch 1.1.1.0. Was there a fix for this available client side or am I doomed for the weekend!!
  8. Focus should be on your system, not the software. While feedback both positive and negative is needed to push things along, most posts, complaints and such rarely have a positive outcome, ecspecially for the PC owner with the probs. Most solutions given are unfortunately, ( and no offense to anyone, people just want to help ) focused on 'tweaking' one thing/area when you probably should step back, look at cpu / drive / network / gfx / OS and such. Fixing one area will generally not get you optimum performance, you need to tweak and test and move to the next bottleneck. Ive been getting 25-30 FPS for years, no matter what I seemed to do, trying this and trying that, compliling lists, saving cfg's / ini's, upgrading to this and that, always getting hi end products and expecting miracles. Biggest impact Ive seen, finally getting over 60 FPS with max settings, is adding SSD drive, using RunWithAffinity @ http://www.wieldraaijer.nl/ , TweakPrefetch.exe @ @http://exilesofthardware.blogspot.com/2009/09/tweakprefetch.html , limiting addons. While SSD's are pricey and for some, not an option at this time, you will at some point need to change your HDD and should opt for the SSD, even if it means waiting an extra paycheck to do so. The impact of SSD's are like adding HiPerf RAM to a system running with 512MB. The performance increase is amazing, but you need to do your homework in picking the right drive & controller and know how to care for it to ensure max life and performance. Keeping services to a minimum ( www.blackviper.com / see services for what you can shutdown and what not to ) and which other programs needed for the system to run also have an effect, of course. SysInternals by some MS tech specialists offer tools that run in RAM, no install necessary ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb842062 ) in particular tcpview.exe which gives an overview of what is eating your bandwidth, you will probably be shocked to see all the programs running that you have not been aware of. These should be block via a firewall or preferences to that software. Most programs install with the 'Auto check for updates ' feature enabled as we blast thru installs and tell ourselves we always want the updated version, of course. But updates dont always mean improvement, and if your windows is set to auto update, you should turn them off unless you actually take a little time to check what you are installing. Also, blindly downloading updates that you might not need or even have the software it is patching as some windows patches do, fill your drive, and as it fills, data is written further and further outwards and spread out, and fragmented. But if I can double my FPS, so can anyone else, and except for the SSD, other options are available to help you optimize your system for free. Focus should be on your PC, not the software dev's, unless its a bug, as you can see many others around that are getting great FPS...FC/LO/DCS is a much better rounded package than any others out there, theres a ton of info for your system to process and you have to have a decent system to run a Black Sea Region size battlefield, with multiple hi speed aircraft and helos, ground and sea units, competing against players all over the world, firing missles, cannons, dropping bombs, weather effects and so on... And although for some, $30-40 dollars is difficult, the price for what you get and hours of replayability, direct contact with the dev's, patches and addons / documentation, is the best money you'll spend and finding another product that gives you such bang for the buck, would make for a very short list.
  9. S! Great job guys, Im sure many new pilots will be on the servers soon once word gets out FFM A-10 is ready. Both the 25T and the A-10 have plenty of controls and systems to keep one busy and challenged. Dont know if this has been already captured on a list somewhere, didnt notice it in beta, but after starting the left engine I noticed on the F2 view that I was seeing exhaust from the right engine... This was in the training mission... The sim looks and runs great, great job on expanding the functionality of the ME also. Thx for the great sim.
  10. Salute, I have above mentioned published by authority of the Sec. of US AF release flight manual and was wondering if any one in our lockon airspace knows if this manual can be freely shared with the public? Its in pdf format, about 320MB's. I would like to upload or create a torrent of this manual if theres any interest and if it's not going to get uncle sam on my back. If so, please let me know here how I can validate it's free usage and perhaps point me to where I can check its circulation rules. Although it's -A variant, it is probably worth checking out for the hard core ground pounders and enthusiasts. Thanks-
  11. You are SO the man. How kind of you to do these things, saves us HOURS of work, rework and testing. S!
