  1. Maybe.... Though I get comparable fps to other game in DCS. Point was - VR is always more taxing than pancake in the same engine.
  2. Perhaps you should look into how AVs work a bit, what they can and cannot do and why there is always an error quota that involves false positives as well as false negatives. Blind trust in AVs is naive. Even more so in the likes of McAfee. If you wanna quit over something like that, be my guest. But it is a complete ill informed overreaction.
  3. Turn of mirrors! Even though the mirror in the AH-64 is tiny - it still has the same performance hit than all the other mirrors. (That won't solve all your performance issues, but helps a bit!)
  4. My test is pancake though. Generally that should translate to VR, but there could be additional factors. So take it with a grain of salt.
  5. 1. Don't use McAfee. It's just crap and adds nothing of value over the onboard solution from windows. 2. False positives are not the fault of DCS. It's just the way AVs work. If there happen to be a snippet of code that was put in the search heuristic that is similar enough to some lines of code that happen to be used by DCS (or the other way round) it produces false positives. Just by chance. You always trade detection rates vs. false positives and false negative quotas. Some AVs do it better, some worse. And it can change from instance to instance. That's the reason, a file should be quarantaned and checked with virustotal to get a clearer picture. AVs only work when you use them thoughtfully. No AV is a fire and forget solution!
  6. Objection! In some Aircraft they look about "acceptable" (F-16 ), but most of the time they work completely unrealistic (perspective) or are LEGO low resolution. Even though I could afford the performance tax on a 4090 I mostly deactivate them because they are just distracting!
  7. Yes, but I think that is the problem. If you want to do it properly (I think at least) you would need to render a separate POV for each mirror (twice in VR), no? There are shortcuts and alleviations like rendering in lower details and lower resolution, but still. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for an improvement of mirrors! Currently I deactivate them usually because they hit performance so badly and still loook awful most of the time. I just don't see how to improve them in a meaningful way without absolutely tanking the performance...... _____ A first step would/could be to take the best working module and at least make the mirror behaviour consistent through all modules.
  8. Perhaps your Anti-Virus blocks a dll of being loaded or an executable of running. Try to set an exception for DCS (incl. the savegames folder) in your AV. There are a lot of false positives lately.
  9. No issue with landing here - apart from my incopetence of keeping it straight when applying brakes. But that is a me-problem and affects all fixed wing ACs more or less.....
  10. Agreed! One step by another. I could fill a book with things I'd like to see in DCS, but I'll take it as it comes.
  11. For combined arms and helicopter players it does a lot for immersion.
  12. I'm a little confused as well. Why don't mirrors "work this way"?
  13. Given the current statements from Heatblur regarding the Phantom release (may) and from ED regarding the patch cycles (6 weeks), it is not unlikely.* (*IF everything goes as planned , so I‘m confident but wouldn’t bet my life on it)
  14. No quarantine, immediately deleted? Wow, I would ditch this AV in no time. Pretty intrusive considering, that false positives (like in this case) are not that uncommon. You can only repair/re-install DCS and deactivate Eset for the time being and then set an exception for all DCS folders.
  15. My benchmark does not account for any abnormality that may occur with certain setups or aircraft. It is just a F-16 flying low over Haifa in Syria. It is just meant to measure raw basic engine performance.
  16. I think the main problem with a proper mirror implementation is, that it will probably tank performance. I assume that is, why they rather not touch in right now. I don't see how you wanna improve in a meaningful way (especially in VR) without proper 3D-Rendering for the mirrors.
  17. Before and after performance tests in Syria, in case somebody is interested (note: there were improvements with the new terrain streaming in the last patch, but I didn't make "before" tests then.) Before Update 10-04-2024, 18:42:05 DCS.exe benchmark completed, 21607 frames rendered in 139.671 s Average framerate : 154.6 FPS Minimum framerate : 143.7 FPS Maximum framerate : 173.1 FPS 1% low framerate : 139.8 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 95.0 FPS 10-04-2024, 18:44:55 DCS.exe benchmark completed, 21606 frames rendered in 139.640 s Average framerate : 154.7 FPS Minimum framerate : 143.4 FPS Maximum framerate : 173.8 FPS 1% low framerate : 141.5 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 130.4 FPS After Update 10-04-2024, 18:57:01 DCS.exe benchmark completed, 21536 frames rendered in 139.500 s Average framerate : 154.3 FPS Minimum framerate : 143.4 FPS Maximum framerate : 172.1 FPS 1% low framerate : 141.3 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 95.0 FPS 10-04-2024, 18:59:51 DCS.exe benchmark completed, 21553 frames rendered in 139.640 s Average framerate : 154.3 FPS Minimum framerate : 143.2 FPS Maximum framerate : 173.7 FPS 1% low framerate : 141.5 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 130.6 FPS No changes, I would say. (none anticipated)
  18. You should really check a suspect file with virustotal.com before taking such drastic measures. Most of the time a false positive is most likely (in this scenario).
  19. Don’t worry. I wasn’t complaining (haven’t even taken a look yet). I was just happy that the Mi-8 gets some love!
  20. DCS Mi-8 - Cockpit reflections tuned I‘ll take that as a first step!
  21. What was the outcome by the way?
  22. In the very beginning I got nausea from TrackIR. Much the same I got initially from VR. But that blows over soon. And I probably spent a couple of weeks with tweaking the curves and sensitivity until it clicked (with some additional tweaking now and then for some month). I never touched it since though. Borrowing an existing profile as a basis (I think I got the one from spudknocker back then) made all the difference for me back then. Another important step was to actually bind the "pause" function next to the recenter on my hotas. That helps tremendously when setting up the cockpit.
