  1. Whaaaat? I think you need to read more about Case III procedure. What 300 miles?! What 140 miles?
  2. And don't turn Link 4 unless you're RTB and planning to recover using ACLS. That's the only case of using Link 4.
  3. DCS does not simulate fragmentation or blast wave. If one of the bomblets won't hit the target directly, it won't take any damage. Even infantry can survive cluster bombing. Of course ED says it's correct as is.
  4. You have your binding messed up. Weapon release is not "first detent", it's the big red button on top of the stick - thumb pressed. First stage trigger in our Hornet is not used to anything.
  5. Description.lua files have changed. You have to compare yours with new ones and correct yours. It's few last lines, where there is definition of which numbers are visible, and which aren't.
  6. Distance from carrier will vary depending on aircraft's weight. When I'm recovering heavy (just below 34k lbs) I prefer more distance - 1.3-1.4 nm from carrier. When I'm light (31-32k lbs), I'll be closer - 1.1-1.2 nm. As other said practice, practice, but analyze your recoveries, recognize your mistakes and correct them. Simply doing patterns, failing, and not knowing what went wrong won't help you.
  7. AAR need s skill, but also remember that in some apects in sim it's easier than real, in some much harder. Easier - DCS has no basket physics, no turbulence influence on basket, no hose physics Harder - unless you're playin VR - on monitor you don't have 3D vision, so it's harder to se distance on relative speed. Also you don't feel the aircraft with your body (it's like comparing driving in sim and real car), and also, what people tend to forget - IRL to get to AAR, you need to be skilled pilot, hundreds of hours in jets, you have to be officer, you need to have a collage degree, you spend Hundreds, if not thousands hours on learning and training. In DCS people buy cheap HOTAS, fly 5 hrs, then try to AAR and say that is so hard. It is hard for skilled pilot, so for us...
  8. Don't move curves. Practice. Remember about two things: 1. Throttle has delay. Aircraft/engine will react 1-3 seconds after throttle movement. You have to be proactive, anticipate your actions, be ahead of the situation, and act accordingly. 2. When you correct throttle - after correct revers 50% of your correction back. For a long time you will always overreact. Correction, then 50% of movement back.
  9. It also works as "regular" comms menu if Easy communications is ON. That is a major cause of comms problems - people play with easy comms on, then they run a mission with EC forced to off, or join a server with EC to off, and they don't know what to do. Easy comms setting is pure evil.
  10. 1. You need to have a target in sequence (it's not this same as designating waypoint as target) 2. You enter TOT in Zulu, with seconds (6 digit).
  11. In theory you can - you can manipulate any argument which are animations - wings, canopy, dust covers, gear, etc. The problem is, you have to do it via liveries, so everyone on the servers has to have these liveries, and every variation of arguments is separate livery. Not very practical.
  12. 1. TACAN works on line of sight, so if you're on the ground and TACAN station is far away it can be not visible. 2. There is a long standing bug if you have TACAN receiver working for a long time it will show BS. Turn it off then on again.
  13. No, Link 4 (the first one) is only for ACLS and nothing more.
  14. Did you launch the missile on waypoint designation? Verify correct waypoint altitude.
  15. I really start to believe that DCS is some kind of magic. To turn on TACAN run the game on odd hour and spit over your left shoulder. To lower gear have even number of lightbulbs in the room and no more than two cats.
  16. After the patch there is a problem with TACANs. Regardless on mission or map TACANs sometimes are connected as closed as 10 nm. Sometimes 20-30 nm.
  17. The video doesn't say you can slave TGP to RWR contact. It says, that if you're tracking air contact with TGP it will be corelated with RWR signal.
  18. So, there is a problem. I place a blue Hornet. By default it's designated Enfield 1-1, in datalink tab under Voice Callisgn Label (VCL) it is ED 11. Then I change flight callsign to Squid 3-1. VCL stays ED 11. Then I add another aircraft to the flight and the new aircraft is SD 32. So I have a flight with VCLs ED 11 and SD 32.
  19. I have no problem, did a dozen of recoveries after patch.
  20. Don't look at your airspeed it will differ depending on aircraft weight. Just fly on-speed.
  21. Condition are good enough for pattern, but not for marshal stack over carrier.
  22. No, Case II is a merge of Case III and Case I - you have holding and commencing from Case III, but you don't land straight in, but enter Case I pattern.
  23. I'm not sure if it works like that, but isn't it possible to move cross on the DDI, then press TDC depress to retarget missile?
