  1. Hi, I guess this is probably unusual in here but I'd have a favor to ask. I made a few videos myself when LOMAC came out and there's one in particular that I always wanted to create but never could. I just don't have the time, talent and tools to do accurately what I have in mind. So I'm turning to all of you pro and amateur vidmakers in here to see if one of you could pull it off. What I always wanted to do was some kind of a lyric video of Iron Maiden's "Aces high" song. The song is about WW2 planes but I would like it adapted to the modern DCS and Flaming Cliffs era. I'd like the lyrics to display at the bottom of the screen while it's playing. Most importantly I'd like that almost all the sentences to be accurately represented with in game footage. For example : Gathering speed as we head down the runway - Here we would see a group of Eagles taking off Gotta get airborne before it's too late - We see some planes taking off while in the same shot others are being destroyed on the ramp. Same principle applies for the rest of the lyrics. Anybody here could to this? Just reply in this thread and I'll send you additional details via PM. Oh and if more than 1 person is interested I don't mind at all. More versions = more variety = more fun! Thanks!
  2. Haha yes Peter I'm indeed a satisfied customer! I'll enjoy the Su-25T for a little while and then I'll try the Black Shark. I think it will be a good challenge. And thanks for the clarification about trim!
  3. Thanks BIGNEWY and Peter, you gave me great tips. Though nothing worked until I was about to try PPJOY, I had a flash. The video and axis names gave me an idea. I found a solution but it's quite weird. I went back to the game's options and tried to affect my throttle axis to any other command. When I did, the name that appeared was JOY_SLIDER1. :noexpression: When I try my first rotary, it gives me JOY_SLIDER2 and my second rotary gives me JOY_RX. (But my rudder works fine in both directions) So I re-affected the thrust axis and it got JOY_SLIDER1 and it works  It seems like the axis names are a bit messed up but eh... it works now! So thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate! Oh and while I think about it, is there any way to trim the aircraft using one of the rotaries? I don't find the option in DCS...there seems to be less axis options than in LOMAC. Thanks again!
  4. After several reboots, unplugs and replugs, game uninstalls and re-installs, I still have no luck with my throttle. Obviously, this makes the game unplayable to me. I don't have the money to buy a new HOTAS and I don't want to change it since it still works well in other games. Since this issue is related to the game, I hope some patch will fix this in the near future. If the dev team need some more details, I'd be glad to help. I was interested in getting Black Shark 2 and A-10C but I won't spend my money there if the same issue appears.
  5. Hi, I just installed DCS World yesterday and I'm playing with the Su-25T. I have a Saitek X45 and the throttle doesn't work in the game. It doesn't move at all. In the controls options, it is well assigned to the JOY_Z axis. The other buttons and switches on the throttle and joystick work fine but the throttle itself doesn't do anything. It works well in the Windows 7 (64 bits Home Premium) control panel and also works flawlessly in FSX. I have the latest driver. I disabled my saitek profile just to make sure it wasn't conflicting and it doesn't change anything. No throttle movement. I would need your help now because it's not very fun to adjust the throttle with the keyboard :joystick: Thanks a lot!
  6. You're talking about this one? And for those who haven't seen it yet, no it's not lockon 2.12 lol.
  7. Great idea centermass. At least we would know what's happening and why. Threads here disappear with no explanation what soever. Just like SK's last thread...Yeah his idea was..."special" but still it had over 10 pages of constructive posts. People weren't bashing at each other and everyone defended his ideas in a clean manner. Then I come back here and the whole thread is gone and I don't have a clue why. Yeah maybe it wasn't in ED's plan anyway but still...isn't a forum about discussion? That would be so great. There's really a lack on input from ED on this forum. And I think that's part of why there's so much frustration around here nowadays. Yes I know, there was Wag's announcement a few days ago and he will do another one soon but apart from that what did we get from ED? The last infos we had goes back in March. Chizh and Dmut used to come here once in a while to give us small update but now they only seem to go on the russian forum. I know english isn't there language but russian isn't ours. I think GA's solution is the best here. If they could give us regular reports of what's being worked on at the moment it would satisfy a bunch of us! And I guess they trust enough their beta testers to give them this kind of information (at least I hope so).
  8. Because they are 2 different commercial products. Black shark is about the KA-50, if you want to fly the 25T you need to buy FC. You will be able to fly the Su-25T in BS if you now have FC installed but if you're buying BS and you don't have FC, why would you also get the 25T when others have paid for it before. At least that's my guess...
  9. Damn that's quite expensive! But do you absolutely need a headset to make it work? Couldn't you just clip it to your ear? (and still be comfortable)
  10. Only a quick question, maybe the testers could answer. Is it possible in the Ka-50 to fire both the gun and rockets at the same time? It would be quite useful if you have to do a mega strafing run on a column!
  11. Great vid! And now that it's released, can you tell us why you had to wait till this date to release it? :music_whistling:
  12. Well for the first release it should look like that : You will be able to fly either the T-6A or the T-38C. Their will be a complete (and as accurate as it is) training syllabus where you will first do your UPT training to learn the flight basics, formations, etc in the T-6. Once this is complete you will jump to IFF in the T-38C where I think you will learn the combat basics. Then when the combat aircrafts will be finished you will jump to FTU training where you will learn almost everything you need to know about the aircraft you will have picked (F-16, F-15C/E or A-10). The combat aircrafts are included in the price of the first release so they could be downloaded for free once they are done. At least that's how it was up to recently but I don't think it's going to change. You will also get the whole world modelled (and it will be spherical just like FSX) so virtually all airports in the world are there and you could do some free flights in your home town if you wish! Although theses airports won't be as detailed as the ones where the training will take place since this will be the focus of the first release. All cockpits will be 3d pits. And I think all of them will support 6 DOF (not sure on this one though) So I think that's about the way it's gonna look like. I may be missing a few things but you get the main points.
  13. Is there a night pod on the Ka-50 just like the Mercury on the Su-25T?
  14. Holy sh*t!! That was quite awesome :D But who made this vid? ED never really makes so much editing in their own videos. Anyway I need Black Shark.....NOW! :joystick:
  15. Nice! I love movies with storylines. Can't wait to see the rest. And nice sound effects lol. Oh and how could you create such a high quality movie in a so little file?
  16. That's not the point, and if you read carefully you'll notice the T-38 flight was only the icing on the cake. That trip they made to this airbase allowed them to take thousands of pics and hundreds of videos of the airbase so that they can accurately model it. They also gathered plenty of information on USAF training procedures and they made a bunch of contacts for the future. So yes it's gonna be a good sim
  17. I would even prefer a development update rather than screenshots. It would be cool to know what the team is focusing on right now or what kind of bugs they're trying to iron out or which feature is being implemented, etc.
  18. Well I saw the Blue Angels live this week-end here in Quebec city (was the 2nd time I saw them) and they're always that good! They did their low altitude performance since the weather wasn't great but their performance truly was! I just hope you guys will get good weather cause the blues aren't taking off if they don't have a ceiling of at least 1000ft. That's what happened here on saturday :( But at least we saw them sunday and the guys even postponed (sp?) the schedule of their show so that they could get better weather and perform at least once in front of us! Oh I can hear you scream for a pic now.... And try to imagine the sound during that fly-by :D
  19. You know it's not, SK. When you edit the file, there's no real cockpit and you can't use all of the airplane's weapons. And I should clarify that in my question I wrote : in a future ED sim. I know there's no way we're gonna get a Hornet in the current project. But in the future, if they can make an F-16 then they can (and have to) create an A2G radar. And speaking of the F-16, I know there's nothing official that it will be this plane in their next project but there are gonna be so much F-16 sims in the near future that I don't think it's gonna be that good for the community. We're gonna have a new Falcon from LP, Fighter Ops from XSI and then another F-16 with ED. I know this can seem good but I'm not sure it realy is. Who will take the time to learn 3 different sims? Sure a few ones but I guess people will pick one and stick to it. Now if we ED were building an F-18 (even with some guesses), they would be miles ahead of the competition and appeal to a whole new market.
  20. Ok? I didn't make this poll so that the Hornet be easier to product but to know what the community wants from ED. There's something wrong with that?
  21. To make a follow up from this thread I thought it would be interesting to make this poll. The fact is that we are the community, we are the ones that buy their products in the first place so I would like ED to pay attention to this poll. It's important to have as many votes as possible. It would also be nice if someone speaking russian would translate it and post it in the russian forum too. I would also appreciate if a mod could make it a sticky for a week or so and to have ED comment as results start to come in. So for those of you who would be interested in flying a F/A-18 in a future ED sim, how accurate would you want it to be? I prefer to wait until all the information becomes available before ED makes the Hornet so that it is as close to the reality as possible. I wouldn't mind if the Hornet was not completely accurate at the beginning. ED could patch it up as new information becomes available. I don't care if it's accurate or not. I just want to fly a Hornet. I'm not interested in flying the Hornet.
  22. Ok but as said earlier why not just make some guesses about the information that you don't have? Is it so important to create a 110% realistic Hornet? I mean this ain't a simulator for the army but for the casual gamer. We just want to be able to take off from carriers, launch lgbs and harpoons while doing some A-A stuff, etc. I don't think people would mind if they didn't have the exact same lines and numbers in the MFDs as in real life. As long as you can fire missiles and drop the bombs on target in a kind of "realistic" manner.
  23. I think you're a bit wrong about FO. Concerning the demo, that was back in the time where G2I was in charge of the developpement. Things have changed greatly since then, it's a whole new project. And considering developping time, they don't really have much less to start from. They didn't start from scratch, they bought the X-Plane engine and modded it up to now. That's quite a good base. Plus they have a large team of developpers and they have plenty of experts and pilots on board. By looking at their developper's diary, you can see that great progress is made each month. Do not underestimate them, they really know what they're doing (and I'm not saying that ED isn't). I don't want to start another FO vs lomac war....just wanted to clear some facts.
