  1. The developer/publisher has to request this. At that time, Activision did not allow retail activations on Steam.
  2. Why do people who have no idea of how Steam works insist on trying to tell the rest of us how it works?
  3. WOW, your level of misinformation is astounding. The publisher/developer are responsible for updates. Years ago, some publishers left digital versions out of date and just updated their retail disc versions. Since the retail market has died, digital versions now get updated as and when needed. All Cliffs of Dover versions run through Steam therefore all versions are the same. The latest unofficial beta is not on Steam but that is because it is unofficial and the publisher will not authorise the update.
  4. My A10C purchase is now recognised as a DLC purchase. Thank you for the prompt resolution.
  5. http://www.steampowered.com/steamworks/
  6. When if it was thought out very well, I would have to do none of what you mention as Steam would do it automatically.
  7. ABOUT TIME. Are The Fighter Collection still involved?
  8. Have you tried to sell it as DLC instead of a seperate store item? That would make more sense and as far as I am aware, will be less of an issue to get DLC listed instead of a new product.
  9. Any news on this coming to a resolution?
  10. I can only hope. I dont know why ED have been soo reluctant with Steam anyway. Originally when BS was released, I am sure they posted on here saying Steam was not suitable for them. I really thought A-10c would have been released on Steam alongside the original launch. Yes, I am aware they make more money selling it themselves, hence the delay but I know some who have not purchased at all owing to this decision.
  11. Is the U.K Steam release being worked on or is that it?
  12. Fair enough Nate. I am probably getting to carried away this so will chill my jets. My point is, I am not expecting Valve to do this for free, the publisher will need to pony up at some point. However, if ED are selling the keys directly, they can sell them to whatever markets they wish.
  13. OEM's distribute Steam keys all the time for none Steamworks games, Lost Planet 2 and Dirt 2 being ones I have activated specifically. IT CAN BE DONE, despite you "correcting" me otherwise in your previous posts.
  14. Games DO NOT require use of the Steamworks API for you to arrange with Valve to distribute your own product keys for activation on Steam. Why misinform people? Unlucky for me ;)
  15. What was the problem then? It only took 4 days to resolve.
  16. Many developers sell Steam activate-able product keys directly. I am aware of the business requirements this would involve and well aware Valve are not charity. Please substantiate your own posts before crticising others and do not assume that just because someones views are different to yours that the are inadequate or less informed. You come across as very condescending. Considering this issue does not affect you and your comments do not represent ED, why shake the bee hive?
  17. I agree. More so, you cannot leave out an entire market on the biggest digital distribution platform on the planet. I am not sure of that, would be interesting if someone could enlighten us? And if so, what the timescale was for a resolution?
  18. That is what makes it more of a farce. The press release about the Steam release came from the U.K, yet they made no mention in that about being available everywhere except the U.K. Thank you for understanding where I am coming from though. You are right, it is very frustrating.
  19. Obviously they would need to make that agreement, I am aware of that. The point is, they allready have their SKU on the Steam store so doing so is an option if for whatever reason they are unable to have a U.K storepage on the Steam store. Seeing as the game is being sold on Steam in most other territories, somebody somewhere has a working relationship with Valve so something could be agreed.
  20. I agree 100% with that comment. That is a valid solution, however it is not an option for everyone and it is hoops we should not be jumping through. The U.K is a big market gaming wise, the arrogance to not release it over here is worrying. What would the reaction be if they did not release in the U.S because they "couldnt come to terms". This is a farce.
