Finally got home from vacation and eagerly applied the above fix to my issue, the topic of this thread. I’m very happy to report that it worked! All HMD data displays correctly in the proper line of sight within my Varjo Aero. Thanks for posting this fix. Much appreciated!
-
It’ll be another week before I can get to this but I’ll give it a try. Hopefully this will fix my issue. Thanks!

This is a completely different issue. I’m not experiencing any distortion in DCS with the Aero, just the HMD data being improperly located within the normal field of view. You can see the vertical displacement between the HUD data and HMD data in the screenshot I posted above. They should be even vertically when moving your head left or right without moving your head up or down. Again, no distortion.

As an addendum to my post above, I’ve started flying the Apache more since it was released. Regarding the HMD (monocle), it is displaced in the Varjo Aero low enough that the base (terminology) that houses the projector lense is not visible. As with the other aircraft that have HMDs, this issue is quite annoying and detracts from the immersive intent of the devices in VR.
-
I tried to screenshot it but it shows up normally in the screenshot (from the monitor). That said, I tried to approximate what I’m seeing in VR and took a picture using my phone. If you’re looking thru the HUD in VR and turn your head to see the HMD display, the display appears in the lower half of the VR display, requiring me to look WAY up to get the HMD display where I need it. The attached picture seems to show it slightly higher than it shows in VR. This is the same for all HMD aircraft (F/A-18C, A-10C, F-16C, AH-64D). I’m not really sure how to get a screenshot of what I’m actually seeing in VR. Again, with the low-res bug that appeared with yesterday’s update, HMD displays appeared normally.

Any word on this fix? The VR bug mentioned in another thread ( for which —force_steam_VR worked as a workaround) showed the HMD displays in different aircraft correctly but with the low resolution of the bug. The workaround reintroduced the HMD bug, including in the Apache.
-
The —force_steam_VR extenstion worked for me. I posted an issue in another thread regarding HMDs in various aircraft showing up below the normal sight plane when using the Aero. This also seems to be the case with the Apache. I’ll follow-up in that thread.
-
I saw the same thing. Above the .exe file in that folder should be a DCS.exe file. Create a shortcut of THAT file and add the workaround extenstion mentioned above.

Add me to the list of Aero users experiencing this issue. I’ll give the workaround a try.

Having an issue with the Varjo Aero andthe helmet-mounted displays in the Hornet, Viper, and Warthog. The display shows up below center and only available in the right eye. I normally fly with it in the right eye but because of the position low of center and only in the right eye, I thought I would try left eye or both eyes. Those selections don’t change anything. The display only shows up in the right eye and below center. Would appreciate any help with this issue.

Hollywood, I’ve been an avid user of Vaicom Pro and the associated plugins for a while now. I recently moved DCS to a new M2 drive when ED came out with 2.7. Ever since the move/update, the Dictation function of the Notes tab on the Interactive Kneeboard no longer works. START DICTATE does nothing. Everything worked fine before the move/update. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Terry

I updated to 2.7 and have this strange issue where the mouse is limited to the upper or lower half of the screen at a time. If in the lower half of the screen, the mouse can be moved to the upper half by hitting ALT + Enter SOMETIMES. At other times ALT + Tab is required. Same trick required if the mouse is stuck in the upper half of the screen. Ticking Full Screen Mode and/or Limit Mouse to Game Window (wording) have no effect on this. This issue limits my ability to access ESC menus when in game, such as Adjust Controls, because there will be a narrow horizontal band in the middle of the screen that the mouse can’t access regardless of this upper/lower half of screen issue mentioned above. I ran the Repair utility and issue not corrected. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I love the videos of your Viper audio files but can’t seem to get them to work. I get a message when starting the sim that says Viper Audio DLC is not authorized and is being disabled. Any help would be appreciated!

Lilliput UM-80 Refreshing/Updating Problems
atrdriver replied to KLUTCH's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Vista 64/UM-80 Problem Hi, Not sure if this is a good place to post this, but I just got two UM-80s and already had the Cougar MFDs. I'm running all under Vista 64. So far it only recognizes one UM-80, not both. When I go into display settings, it shows 5 monitors, the main monitor and four others. First, I'm unsure why Vista is seeing 5 monitors when only three are connected. Second, I'm unsure why I can only make one UM-80 active and not both. I have tried rebooting with no UM-80s connected but it still sees four additional inactive montors. I'm a total newbie to this multi-monitor stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Terry -
I'm away from home for a few days but looking forward to returning home and downloading the final version of A-10C. How should beta users go about downloading the final version? I have only seen a purchase link for the final. Thanks, Terry

That did it! Thanks Nate!

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
atrdriver replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As a follow-up to my previous post, I have to say that compared to the Microsoft FSX carrier ops I mentioned, the Russian carrier ops modeled in LOMAC/FC/FC2 are poor at best. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MODERN US CARRIER OPS MODELED IN A DCS PRODUCT!!! -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
atrdriver replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
DCS already has a Russian rotary-winged ground pounder in the Black Shark (that I have not and do not plan to buy) and we know that the A-10C is up next. I personally think that a late block F-16C/D, a multi-role iron-hauling ground pounder/dogfighter, would be appropriate. Alertnatively, it may also be time to explore US naval aviation! A multi-role fighter like the F/A-18C/D Hornet or E/F Super Hornet with high fidelity carrier ops would make for a great next project! After having experienced carrier ops in Microsoft FSX with Javier Fernandez's fantastic FREE USS Nimitz carrier add-on, it's high time we see such highly realistic carrier ops implemented in a DCS product! To see the Apache as a next project gives us THREE ground pounders in a row! I'd much prefer to see one of the above aircraft offered following A-10C. Enjoying FC2!
