Great hear from you this, as think thie "issue" frustrated at least 5 or 6 attempt; in my last, when try to improve my 95 score, the bas$£@d downed even my AMRAAM.

But finally I've finished the Campaign today (as already said scored 95 with an average for the Campaign of 99 ) is one of the best I've played, immersive and loved the ATC part at the point that look strange now when I don't need contact approach, departure,etc... Some missions were quite hard, at least for me,cut this force me to be more careful and inventive, as at first I was a bit too much in a arcade mindset, but the satisfaction was so high that on a pair of circumstances I litterally screamed of joy!!!

Hope you will publish another Campaign for the Hornet, but in the meantime I've bought the Kerman Campaign for when I can fly the Harrier with confidence ( just started to practice cold start, preflight check,etc...). Mmmmhhh, maybe will buy the Viper when possible to play your Weasel Campaign, look at various Youtube videos and look gloroius. Maybe this summer...

Thanks again for your effort and be proud of your product(s)!!!!

Thanks very much, and thanks for picking up Kerman as well.  Hopefully I can share some more Hornet news later this year 🙂.

After two years of casually flying with DCS, this campaign finally gives me the immersive experience I was looking for.

The others I tried felt lacking in engagement, partially because the setup was way too detached from reality (like the Museum Relic campaign). (Note: I don't have the Hornet and I realize most if the campaign are for that plane)

Also, finally a great campaign in Syria!

Yesterday I completed the second mission after more than a week of trying and failing as I realized how much knowledge I was still missing in using the F-16's A-G systems. The experience was very rewarding and how two hours disappeared was insane. This is like an old school AAA gaming layer on top of DCS's top notch, but a bit sterile foundations, the cherry on top.

Many thanks for creating this, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the missions as well as future campaigns!

Thanks very much, appreciate the feedback.  Hope you keep enjoying the rest of the campaign just as much!

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but landing vertically is almost impossible at FOB Juliet. I can do a rolling vertical landing but hovering, even with a slick jet and 1000 pounds of fuel and water injection, is not possible.

I tried the same at sea level and had no similar problems. Could it be that Juliet is simply too high for vertical landings?

It is fairly high elevation, but it has always been possible in the past.  I'll recheck myself soon, past Harrier updates could well have altered engine performance.  No harm in a rolling VL landing though, tower will be perfectly happy with that.

Hmm. If and when I open msn editor in any mission, TDOA is by default disabled from you and yourwingman when looking your own airplane (that is found where you can cross group weapons, radios and thingaboms etcetc) and from my wingman disabled also. BUT when i look at the wingmans plane itself by clicking it -> that is tdoa crossed. Is someone else master here in these missions or does that only mean that AI is "ready" for TDOA _IF_ I put it on trough my own airplane / grouop settings. The big question is, what is the difference of crossing/enabling tdoa from mision editor from AI plane vs crossing tdoa on to wingman / AI in the group? I playead campaing trough so that I always made whole group tdoa enabled from my airplane settings and all the ai´s also (ofc this can also be done trough ufc during flight, atleast disabling TDOA from my dlink group. (havent found a way to enable it during flight from my ufc IF NOT enabled in msn editor first. THOUGH I can disable TDOA trough UFC if its enabled in msn editor. dunno should that be like that but all the same for me. I just would like to know what is the meaning of every ai tdoa enabled when clicking ai plane itself an looking those settings plane by plane. Is it just "possible to use tdoa if somebody will be master" thingamob? sry for my rally wrc english as I am Finnish. The campaing itself is just super. Maby some AA action more would be nice, maby trough selection at startup or something? that would be cool to shoot ka-50´s down same time when weazeling trough deserts. Race was fine and road was a slippery.

TDOA can be enabled easy enough, but it wouldn't help as you don't normally operate as a large enough group of aircraft to make use of it.  2 aircraft isn't enough.

Finished the campaign last night and it was fantastic! Highlights for me were that time on target popup strike against the sa-15 and being dragged out of my comfort zone on the mission where I have to take out an sa-3 with CBU-87s. Ended up level bombing from 25k feet because the HARMs kept them down, nailed the radar.

Only note is that in the mission with the migs, you are told to try to outrun them. I did, made it to the border and they broke off, which means I couldn't get a perfect score haha. Luckily I don't care about score

edit: also what a finale! ended up getting shot at by:

    2x SA-10
    4x SA-6
    4x SA-11
    2x SA-8
    6x SA-11
    2x SA-6
    2x S-60 gun bursts
    6x ZSU-57 gun bursts

on the playthrough I actually survived. the scariest part is I didnt even know an SA-8 had shot at me 😮

Awesome!  Thanks for the feedback, certainly a lively last mission!

Me -- so picky, ADD, and easily bored that I rarely, if ever, "finish" a game, campaign, or accomplish stated goals before I find some excuse to move on to the next shiny object.

This campaign --  today at lunch I finished the campaign for the second time, and I intend to do it all again. This is not like me, but the campaign is that enjoyable.

@ChillNG I am 100% in for FIWOS 2.  If I were to request anything, maybe a bit more A2A action to spice it up. My final score this last playthrough was 41 ground kills, 1 Air.  I get it, the literal name of the campaign is Weaseling, and on this it delivers, but also having the opportunity to make Ace during the next campaign would be perfect 🙂

Thanks very much!  Happy to oblige with the sequel, there isn't a lot of air to air but there is absolutely the chance to make ace!

Hey, thanks for the comments!  There's not much to it to be honest, just the basic SAM avoidance techniques.  Biggest threats are the SA-6s, there are three in range of the target but you will only have one online at any one time.  It's been ages since I flown this one but from memory things were a little safer west of the target (towards the mountains at the Lebanese border), this is a safer place to loiter and press your attacks from.

I normally stay back as far as possible whenever the migs give me trouble, just play for time.  IIRC I would hang back somewhere near the Jordanian border (this will put you around the SW edge of the SA-6 threat ring at Tha'lah AB).  The AI will kill the Migs for you...Link, Newt and the F15s are all set to engage them at certain criteria and there are fail-safes built in for this if the AI goes a bit funny, failsafes are around 4-6 mins from the start of the engagement.

    Hopefully these points help.

I just flew mission 1 that you kindly provided as a download. That was a fun mission! Love the more elaborate ATC at Akrotiri (which was actually not that hard to follow). It's a long mission, but there is lot going on that keeps the player entertained.

Really looking forward to this campaign!

Thanks very much.  Yeah you'll find all the missions a little longer than FIWOS due to the longer trek across the sea,  but gives me a nice space to make things happen in so I quite like it.

This campaign is a GEM. It really fills up a large gap of DCS. That is, immersive campaign, proper radio, roles  e.t.c . This is like an RPG with aircraft. I haven't been flying much lately, but this campaign made me come back and fly for hours and hours. Fantastic work on all aspects

    "Forest" is top man!

Thanks so much for feedback, glad you enjoyed the campaign!

So mission 3 log:  Score 98, I think because I called arrival just below 6500 msl or it's because I called approach at FL021 and descending, not bad, I'm happy with my score overall.  I used a JDAM on an SA8, and A Mav on the SA6 radar,  At that point all I could do was spend my other 2 weapons on 2 of the TEL vehicles.  Altogether it was way awesome how Sword 1-1 and I, 2-1, took running in on the SA6 to keep it busy, until one was lined up for the kill.  Took on 500 lbs of fuel with Shell 1-1 on the RTB, just in time to continue on egress as they turned back to their orbit.  There's something satisfying about hearing the Bingo call twice during one hop.

So we are fighting the Syrian Islamic Army, and supporting the YDF, and the SIA and the Syrian Democratic forces are fighting the Syrian Military / Government (who the Russians are Supporting) do I have that right?  In any case, I wasn't sure when those Flankers pulled up close  by if they were pissed that we'd been bombing the SIA or if they couldn't care less.  Sigh of relief though after they flowed west soon after contact.

It's a confusing mess in Syria alright.  We're the JSTF, fighting the SIA and the SAA, and supporting the SDF and YPG.  We're not fighting the Russians but we're not friends either.

The SDF are fighting the SAA and SIA.  They are aligned although not fully allied with the YPG.

The Russians are helping the SAA fight the SDF as well as the SIA.

Everyone's fighting the SIA, no one likes them.

    Easy as that lol.

Well,  that was an amazing campaign.   I hope part 2 will start with a takeoff from H4 for a hop to the new base for the 79th!

    Thanks glad you enjoyed!

    Finally scored 100!

Was a bit tricky, as an average of 4 out of 6 weapons dropped hit their targets and wingie was of little help (of all the time ask to hit something left, happend only a couple of time and once was downed).

So I'd to strafe the the Clam Shell and a group of TELs in the decisive try, but the satisfacton is so high!!!

Thanks for the Campaign, is so gooooodddd!

Thanks!  Glad you're having fun, mission 15 is certainly a tough one to score 100 on.

Honestly, I can't remember. The RWR was pretty much cluttered at that point. If it was up, it wasn't locking me, though.

IIRC, I did see a "6" on the HAD, because I was contemplating strafing it, in case Bug's HARM would miss (of course I forgot to set a mark point previously; I became rather rusty in the Viper 🤦‍♂️). I also forgot to check in the debriefing afterwards whether my CBU's  killed the SA-6 radar or not. I never thought about it, since I heard the "kill message", and I saw from rising smoke that I definitely did kill multiple "somethings" on that SA-6 site. 🤷‍♂️

Ok thanks, I'll make some checks.

    Hi Chris,

I just got back into FIWOS to finally finish the campaign (took a break after mission 9).

I'll put the question in spoiler tags, as it's related to the plot:

      Hide contents

After I killed the SA-3 with a pair of CBU's, I get tasked to take out the SA-6. As it keeps shutting down on Bug, I also drop the last pair of CBU's, and I hear "that SA-6 is dead" (or something similar) over the radio. Shortly before Pesky starts the run-in, the 6 pops up again. So I didn't kill it completely, despite what Bug said? Bug takes it out with his last remaining HARM, so mission progresses, and Pesky can do their thing and egress unharmed.

I just wonder if the mission would play out slightly differently if I manage to completely annihilate the SA-6 site (kill all TEL's)?

Hey man welcome back, I'll double check the triggers to make sure I haven't left any errors in there but shouldn't be possible to happen, thought I'd safeguarded against that but like I said I'll make sure.

Only need to kill the radar, you can leave the TELs, from what you've described sounds more like an error my end.  When the SA6 came back up did you see any RWR indications from the site?

@ChillNG I have a question before I start mission 6.  Page 7 in the briefing document starts with saying that Popeye is giving details, but then it reads like Forrest is writing a note saying he (PLAYER) will target the Tin Shield. Do I have that right?

Yes that's right, your target is the Tin Shield radar.

about two years later, the same bug on Mission 2 hits me. I have checked what happened to Tommyh herein below, but I have none of the mods that he listed.

Has anyone come across a definitive solution to the bug?

I don't think there will be a solution to this other than remove all mods and try it then.  As DCS changes then the mods will break/break DCS in new ways so you can't rely on the same combo of mods being ok or not 2 years on.

Hey Guys!!! I completed Mission one, but my game froze as I quit the mission in Parking Space 8. I give myself an 80, because of mistakes in the Weasel part. How do I stay below 1,500' AGL and out of AAA range? Check out my radical landing and the tightest turn into a shelter I've ever made:

To stay out of AAA range make sure you are on the briefed attack heading from the IP, that should be keep you safe.

To get the score for keeping below 1500 then you need to keep below this altitude during your attack run, only going above when you pop up to attack.

I can now confirm my issue is the same as others are reporting in this thread. VRP and PUP enabled causes an instant crash when switching to A/G and CCRP. Hopefully this will be fixed internally. No issue with the campaign though!

Edit: Marking this as solved because it is not a campaign bug.

    Appreciate the update, thanks!
